The Long Walk is the path that Prince Harry and his bride-to-be took en route to their wedding. Days in advance people lined the route, camping beside the path to get a glimpse of the future Duchess and her Prince as they passed by. It all seems like yesterday.

Windsor is dense with swans and the Castle and the various businesses that exist to profit of those enjoying the swans and Castle but sometimes you just want to get away from all of that. The Long Walk is your excuse.
Running 2.65 miles in length (one-way), I embarked on The Long Walk after a visit to Windsor Castle and a drink or two at a nearby pub (The Two Brewers). From there, the path was in sight, and I had my marching orders.
The walk itself takes you through the well-maintained Windsor Great Park and it is impossible to lose your way or even to much dirty your feet. It culminates in your arrival at the The Copper Horse, a statue, at which point you'll likely choose to turn around assuming you haven't done so already.
Walk back the way you came now and watch the Castle come into view. Imagine Harry and Meghan doing the same and the grounds around you littered with adoring humans. This is your moment.
As you walk this direction, the Castle is your guide, coming more clearly into focus the nearer you get. I'm almost always up for a hike and this is more walk than hike but with its historic significance and its opportunity to get out in nature it's an experience worth making the time for. read more
