Worked out great since many mutual friends were already in Reno and conveniently there is a chapel just down the escalators from the main floor. Beautiful venue. Simplistic and very high-end all at once. Rows of chairs on either side of the aisle with an altar, some steps, and a piano at the front. All of the small details were handled perfectly - a sign announcing the bride and groom, wedding cake, and celebratory drinks on top of the piano. Behind the scenes (literally behind a very decorative curtain) is a back area with rooms for privacy to change and prepare for the big day. The pastor was great. A friend played the piano as a wedding march and then sang a beautiful song for the couple. Huge congrats to our friends AnnMarie and Michael. So glad we were able to be there for them at their nuptials - especially in such a wonderful setting. If you're looking for a place to get married in Reno you can't go wrong with this hidden gem of a chapel within the Grand Sierra Resort.

I dont remember very much of that day, just nerves, Crown Royal stashed in a 16oz water bottle (brides cousin, thanks Jim!), and of course my best mans comforting words..."Dude, im driving you over to the chapel now. We can totally leave town, RIGHT NOW! Im serious. Im just offering." I would not wish marriage on anyone, but if you are hellbent on doing it, might as well do it here. I recommend that you elope, get married by the city and save the $1200 price tag that getting married here cost me, and have a really cool honeymoon. But, what do i know.

Cherie and her husband, Reverend McIntyre were the most lovely, gracious, and kind people who made our last minute wedding so special to us. I was made to feel like a beautiful bride, and our union so sacred and momentous. The ceremony itself, was held with in a small chapel with in a motel, with bare minimum furnishings, nothing fancy. We filled the space with our loved ones and our joy, and listened with great intent to every word the Reverend spoke. It could not have been more perfect if we had planned for 12 months and spent thousands of dollars, unneeded. We got the basic wedding package, which included the licensing, space, and ceremony, and found this was sufficient for our needs. Virginia city is one of those unique places that you can't really comprehend until you visit- it's so charming and old world and makes me feel nostalgic for a time I never lived in. The silver queen has been quiet and empty every time I've been there (always early afternoon on visits from nearby Genoa. The bartenders are always friendly and lovely. I love the smell of history in this town and the silver queen is so full of that. There are antique oddities and treasures everywhere you turn. The silver queen herself stands watch over the bar/lounge area. Drinks are stiff but pricy which is to be expected in a destination town like this. I love stopping in here for a cocktail and bathroom break while I'm exploring Virginia City because I always find new things to look at every time I come. Bathrooms are micro mini but they're clean. Supposedly, it's haunted too!

Staying in Coleville, we found this Catholic Chapel, which holds Eucharistic Service on Sundays at 10:00 A.M. This service fulfills the Sunday obligations. Not sure if the nearest Church with a serving priest is at St. Joseph Church in Mammoth Lakes. We are so grateful for the parishioners at Our Lady of the Valley Chapel! The homily and music was very nice to hear. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We will pray for them and for a priest to serve it's community. God Bless you all!
