Worked out great since many mutual friends were already in Reno and conveniently there is a chapel just down the escalators from the main floor. Beautiful venue. Simplistic and very high-end all at once. Rows of chairs on either side of the aisle with an altar, some steps, and a piano at the front. All of the small details were handled perfectly - a sign announcing the bride and groom, wedding cake, and celebratory drinks on top of the piano. Behind the scenes (literally behind a very decorative curtain) is a back area with rooms for privacy to change and prepare for the big day. The pastor was great. A friend played the piano as a wedding march and then sang a beautiful song for the couple. Huge congrats to our friends AnnMarie and Michael. So glad we were able to be there for them at their nuptials - especially in such a wonderful setting. If you're looking for a place to get married in Reno you can't go wrong with this hidden gem of a chapel within the Grand Sierra Resort.

Well, it would have been 15 years ago this January 1st, when i was married in this very Chapel. My…read morefirst, and only marriage. I remember that it was decently clean, and decently organized, hence the decent rating. I dont remember very much of that day, just nerves, Crown Royal stashed in a 16oz water bottle (brides cousin, thanks Jim!), and of course my best mans comforting words..."Dude, im driving you over to the chapel now. We can totally leave town, RIGHT NOW! Im serious. Im just offering." I would not wish marriage on anyone, but if you are hellbent on doing it, might as well do it here. I recommend that you elope, get married by the city and save the $1200 price tag that getting married here cost me, and have a really cool honeymoon. But, what do i know.

If you're looking for a polished, modern, five-star hotel experience... stop reading now, turn…read morearound, and book yourself a Ritz-Carlton somewhere else. If you want authentic Wild West history, charm, character, and an unforgettable stay, then the Silver Queen Hotel is absolutely the place. This historic hotel dates back to the 1800s and is famously known for being haunted--and full of stories. The owner is a lovely woman who you'll often find tending bar downstairs herself. She's incredibly knowledgeable about Virginia City's history, current happenings, and yes... a little local gossip too . She also owns the Cobb Mansion B&B and truly embodies the spirit of this town. We adore her. We stay have started staying here every New Year's Eve--this was our second year, and we've already booked all of our rooms for next year. That alone should say a lot. The Silver Queen is rustic, antique, and unapologetically historic. There are no modern amenities like A/C, TV, or Wi-Fi--and that's exactly the point. This hotel was adapted from historic living quarters and offers a genuine glimpse into what Virginia City was like during the Gold and Silver Rush of the 1850s. The walls are thin (of course they are--it's old!), the rooms are quirky, and the entire experience feels like stepping back in time. The rooms are clean and have everything you need for a short stay. Would I stay here for a full week? Probably not. But for a night or two during special events--absolutely perfect. Virginia City hosts several saloon crawls throughout the year and they are an absolute blast. We try to make it to all of them, though sometimes we can only coordinate one or two. We'll be staying here again for the next crawl, 'The Devil Made Me Do It' Valentine's-themed saloon crawl. We always dress up for these events and staying the night at the Silver Queen is part of the fun. The Silver Queen always participates and always shows up in style. The bar downstairs is fantastic. Cocktails are very reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly, accommodating, and fun. It's exactly what you want from a historic saloon. One honest note: during our most recent stay, Room 11 had a noticeable moldy smell, and the carpet near the clawfoot tub was damp. While not surprising given a bathtub on carpet in an old building, it could definitely use attention--either deep cleaning or replacing the carpet with tile or another moisture-friendly option. Aside from that, the rooms are historic, funky, and immersive. As a former Nevada history teacher--I can confidently say this place is worth visiting. Virginia City itself is a historic marvel, literally built into a mountainside, and the Silver Queen is right in the thick of it all. The Comstock Lode silver mined here was so rich it helped end the Civil War and earned Nevada its statehood on October 31, 1864. Inside the Silver Queen, you'll find the iconic display of the "Silver Queen" made of over 3,000 silver coins, all minted from silver mined beneath the city itself. It's incredible. Add in the charming wedding chapel, and it's easy to see why so many people choose this place for unforgettable, historic weddings. Bottom line: This hotel isn't meant to be fancy. It's meant to be historic, and it delivers 110%. We love the Silver Queen Hotel & Bar, will always be regulars, and look forward to returning year after year--especially for New Year's Eve and local events. To be honest, we come to Virginia City quite a lot! It is a really fun place to visit and always has the most entertaining events that one would never see elsewhere! We live in Reno, so we are only 20 minutes away. We drive through here on our vintage car rallies and stop for drinks and lunch. We visit for special events. We will come up just for fun! Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates history, character, and the real Wild West.

A "haunting" experience indeed! My boyfriend and I stayed one night at this infamous hotel. The…read morerooms are true to their age, so expected it to be dated. The walls in the room are thin with gaps in the door with the floors so there is light that comes in from the hallways. Again, I need to be explicitly clear that it is a historic establishment, and they honored the space. None of these things bothered me, but are worth mentioning! My downside was that the electric plugs didn't really work and it made it difficult for us to charge our phones. And the next morning I did find a stain on my bedsheets. For that reason I took off a star. This was truly a one of a kind experience and worth a visit.
