Can highly, highly recommend staying here whenever in Baton Rouge. A big thank you to Janice for a truly wonderful experience.

If you want a classy wedding without all the hassles, I highly recommend The Gatehouse. The staff were very accommodating, and made what could have been a very stressful time, extremely easy. You can personalize as much as you like, or if you prefer to just let them do all the work, that's an option too. It included the venue, food, DJ, cake, even your guestbook. Basically, all you have to do is get your dress, minister, photographers, and flowers separately, and they even have recommendations for that! I HIGHLY recommend them!!

We entertain frequently, and have used many local caterers, and count City Pork among the very BEST! City Pork was responsive, efficient, professional, but most of all delivered an over-the-top delicious menu, only surpassed by their conscientious, professional, experienced staff, which accompanied our buffet. We highly recommend without hesitation, and cannot wait for our next party.

All guests say the food was great and we had lots of guests to feed... food was ready on time, stayed stocked, and no one had a complaint! This was a feat for a kitchen keeping up with 400+ guests. Lisa Anne kept us on track through the night and made sure we followed our schedule best we could. We were able to use the venue for our engagement shoot and are SO HAPPY with the photos. If we had to do it all over again, we'd absolutely choose Mount Hope again. While the venue itself is pretty big, the parking is small in contrast. We had 400+ attendees and had to figure out our own shuttle and separate parking situation which was tough and posed various challenges, but turned out okay. They tell you that they are not responsible for your parking situation. This is on you which is fair!! Just a heads up that the parking is not really big so you need to think through that if you're having a big wedding. A few items of mine never turned up after... just a pointer to have everything on your list to be picked up by family after, even think of things you might be wearing in case you change, etc because there's a chance they won't be returned to you. That is on you. They did hold some things our groomsmen brought that were not on the list so it's possible, just do not expect it. Just keep this in mind because things slip your mind in the hectic day!

When you read the reviews below, most people know what this restaurant is and how it works. My…read moreresponse is less harsh about the service or it's overpriced charcuterie board concept. I have lived in BR for 6 years now. Many departments at LSU take guests there and in that time, Building 5 has done nothing to improve its parking lot. The restaurant sits underneath an overpass and the parking is pothole marked unpaved gravel. This means that there is no room for wheelchairs or accommodations for anyone who is differently-abled to get into the restaurant. The whole restaurant makes no room for handicapped persons. On the occasion I did get food, the food is slightly overpriced. All meats were cooked adequately but the food was lukewarm probably owing to sitting in the kitchen under the heat lamp than being delivered promptly. When I have gone, I regularly have to ask for refills on soda as I am the designated driver often for department functions. Servers pay you no heed if you do not buy alcohol. Because I go here because of academic reasons, I would barely go here myself. I've been here many times and found it wanting. It's an ableist place in its infrastructure. It's fine I'm atmosphere as a cocktail bar but would little recommend it to people I call friend.

I would still give them another try and order the Birrias again.
