The name "bar" belies the epic Michelin-level cuisine you'll discover at this ultra posh, lakeside lounge in Queenstown's hyper-touristic foodscape otherwise oriented for more mainstream palates, to put it politely. If you're a Kiwi foodie, their divine little dishes are on par with The French Cafe in Auckland and Whitebait in Wellington, only all a la carte. Instead of sit-up-straight, starched-shirt-style, foofy fine dining (not that we all don't love culinary theater from time to time), you'll instead lean back and lavish in luxuriously upholstered love seats while being casually attended to with impeccable, seamless service. Like 99% of everything in Qtown, the staff is international, only here you can count on them to know their menu and wine list well enough to totally trust their recommendations. Even though one astonishing little dish invariable leads to another, the pricing is reasonable, and the value is exceptional. They do take reservations although I was able to walk-in and find a cush spot to crash and dine for an hour or two no problem. Getting this impeccable quality of cutting-edge global cuisine in such a sweet, posh, chill spot is a rare find anywhere in the world, especially Qtown. read more
