Bacon egg and cheese on sourdough bread
    Denae P.

We came on a 4th of July to get our day started before heading to the beach. It was very busy which we expected but once we got to the front after 30 minutes, the food and drinks came out fast. There were some cute items for sale in the store which kept us occupied while we waited our turn to order. The coffee was strong and made exactly how I like it. The bacon egg and cheese was tasty and filling - right amount of egg, bacon and cheese ratio. We were able to sit out on the back deck to eat and they had some fun 4th of July decorations as well. Would recommend for great coffee and a quick breakfast sandwich!

Ordered Iced latte. Coffee quality was fair at best. Barista used different almond milk to make drink than what was requested. Scone purchased was undercooked and doughy. Ambiance is nice. Upstairs and downstairs seating. Country music on the speakers, if that's your gig.

Landscaping for my In-Laws, went to a new Sandwich place called: The Local Grounds ok n Cataumet used to be The Daily Brew, I got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap extra Spicy and it was really good .....right amount of Spice too, definitely going back for Breakfast sometime when I get down there

Ordered a turkey BLT and was given a sad turkey sandwich on mediocre bread with one thick fatty slice of turkey. Chips are not included which is surprising considering the sandwich is around 13$. I did not eat the sandwich because it looked so unappealing. Got a caramel latte and it was fine but I was surprised the almond milk was an additional upcharge. Would not go back again as there are plenty of great places to get lunch in town for that price. The shop itself is fine, could use some love as it seemed really sterile and did not have cozy coffee shop vibes.

Coffee is average. Scone is dry and priced at $5 each. Other pastries in display case didn't appear to be anything special. Z

I cannot get over how good their German breakfast sandwich was! I can honestly I never would have thought of doing breakfast on a pretzel, and I'm sad this was a first because it was THAT good! Also, I must say picking a breakfast item was super hard because the entire menu is just top notch. Their coffees are so delicious too! It was hard to pick hot or iced, so I may have gotten one of each. Oops! I do not regret this choice at all! I also had to take some of their freshly baked items home for the remainder of the week. I cannot wait to get my hands on them! This place was packed, but it ran effective! The young man who greeted me was wonderful, the cashier was sweet, the barista was excellent and the owner was the most friendly, and helpful gentleman! I can see why it was packed---this cafe is an all around win! It's adorable inside the dining room, staff is great, menu is diverse and super unique, and everything was amazing! I will be back soon!

We were pleasantly surprised that there were plenty of open tables inside and outside. What we didn't know is that there is pressure to place your order at the counter because there was about a 40 minute wait for food because the kitchen was switching over and finishing up after breakfast. The staff were friendly but there was a busy vibe and I wouldn't say they were particularly helpful - mostly because of no dedicated spot for lining up to order and the woman behind the counter kept instructing people to move the line back so that the food could get carried through. It felt like the person in charge of directing traffic (and there was a young man in charge of this!) should have been enforcing the spot, the printed menus should be moved to this spot instead of on a post in the middle of the "food carrying zone," and that person should also point patrons in the direction of the many specials boards. As they dubbed themselves, "Sandwich's sandwichery," I ordered the Mother Hen sandwich- I was drawn to the avocado and bacon. It was served on a ciabatta style roll and was very tasty. I ordered my sandwich "light on the herb mayo" as I'm not always a mayo gal. It could have used more. I was also tempted by the GIANT pastries they had on display but didn't want to go overboard on day one of vacation. As we sat waiting for our food, we saw lots of people coming in for take out as well as ordering to eat-in. Families, large groups, couples, and solo diners all seemed accommodated. I noted it would probably be a fun place to grab sandwiches to go and eat at the beach or some other outdoor place. During this time I also noticed several other specials that looked really intriguing but in my panic to get an order in, I missed the signs entirely. If you are in, or passing through Sandwich, MA, definitely check out Cafe Chew!

Not only is the setting home-y, but the staff is all very kind and quick to greet guests. The good old home feel doesn't stop with the setting or service, but it carries through to the food as well. The food comes out looking like a true, delicious, home-cooked meal with the flavor to back it up! For an appetizer I ordered the Charlie's Chowder, which is the best chowder I've ever had, in New England or otherwise. It comes packed with scallops, lobster, and cod, and is absolutely to die for. For my main course, I ordered the Lemon Caper Cod, which was also wonderful. The piece of cod is huge, and is served with a bed of rice, seasonal veggies (mine were carrots) and, of course, capers. The fish was tender and cooked to perfection and, while I'm not typically a huge carrot fan, the steamed carrots they made were sweet and tasty! If I knew how they make them I'd become a much bigger fan of carrots. From start to finish, everything about this place is top notch! A definite must try!

I wasn't starving, so I ordered what SEEMED to be lighter; Sea and Sand, which consists of a stuffed quahog and a cup of Charlie's Chowder. Just a quahog and a cup of chowder! I found the place on Yelp, and it was justva short walk from my hotel. When I walked into the parking lot, I knew it looked like my kind of place. I walked inside and the sign said "Seat Yourself", so I did. Very quickly, a pleasant lady walked over with menus and greeted me. As I looked around, I could tell this was a place the locals ate, so I knew it was going to be good! The nice lady, whose name is Cathy, came back with my drink, and took my order. The guy in the next booth had finished eating, so I spoke to him. He was very friendly, and confirmed my thought that this was a place locals loved. When Cathy came by to refill my drink, we talked for a couple of minutes. I told her that I loved hearing her call the local customers by name. Before she walked away, I told her that I was now a "local for the day". She confirmed and said I was her new BFF! The food came, and as expected, it was fantastic! I told Cathy that the fried potatoes reminded me of the ones my grandmother made for ne, when I was a child... and very good memory! Cathy checked on me often, and shared some history about Leo's. She quietly dropped off the check, and never made me feel rushed. Overall, it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. To make it even better, she walked by my table and dropped off an Oreo scone for me to try! OMG! I'd never had a scone before! This one may have spoiled me! When I was all done, I walked up to the counter to pay, and tell my new BFF thanks and goodbye. She introduced me to the girl that made the homemade scones, so I was able to tell her how awesome they were. We talked for just a few more minutes, and I talked about bringing my wife and son up that way for vacation. Cathy said that she looked forward to meeting them, and then gave me a hug on the way out. So be prepared! You might come to Leo's for a great breakfast, but you're very likely to walk away with a new BFF! Thanks Cathy!
