We love browsing and shopping here. It's fun to treasure hunt while supporting a good cause. We usually find cool items in the housewares, electronics, hardware and clothing areas. The prices are amazing. The volunteers are so nice and helpful. You can see them taking good care of the displays while talking to the customers, assuring they get whatever help they need. This thrift shop benefits a nearby local animal shelter. Prices were great for the most part. Most clothing was under like $8, except for the designer items on the rack by the front window and anything behind the counter. They even had a couple racks with $1 shirts on them. The employee who rung us out was nice and it turned out that she had pets too! This place has good prices and benefits animals, what more could you ask for? read more

If you like thrifting or finding a great buy- this little place - hidden on a side street in HHI is great. All proceeds go to the Hilton Head animal shelter! There is everything from clothing,to housewares, to furniture, electronics and even a "Home Depot" section. There is no smell to this thrift shop as some often have and the staff are VERY helpful and accommodating. They even wrapped some glassware because they knew we were traveling. Prices are fair / competitive with other thrift shops. If compared to others on the island this one is by far my favorite. read more

They were so nice. I was looking for a gift for my mom. It was an antique tin rooster or chicken. But I needed to know how it sounded. And since they mentioned the name of their place in the review, I called them and they were kind enough to take a video for me and send it to my phone. How cool is that! I came all the way over just to check out the shop, I wanted to purchase something out of your jewelry case. It's Monday and there was only one person at the register. I patiently waited through at least 3 people who came up after me, but the woman wasn't going to help me until after everyone else was helped. At that rate I'd of been waiting all day. What if it was one of those expensive high end items, you lost a sale. Guess it didn't matter. It would not have hurt to step away for a minute so I could look at the piece I was interested in. Not cool!! I finally left, and won't be back any time soon. read more

Every now & then I like checking out the local thrift stores for hidden treasures. I stopped in today and picked up a bread machine and an oyster shell Christmas tree decoration that was brand new. I paid $2 for the same item that sells for $20 or more in one of the upscale local gift shops. Score! read more

Very good thrift store many nice finds. I only wish I wasn't on vacation I would of purchased a chair for my son. I did however find a couple smaller items to bring back home. I would recommend this shop to others looking for something to do while in Hilton Head to take a break from the beach during the thunder like myself for a good cause. read more

Love this place. The staff is just lovely. Always joking and throwing in something extra. They have many unique finds. Everything from electronics, books, and jewelry. I love that there is always some "deal" of something you can take for free. Last time it was TV's. I also like that all the money they get goes to Humane Association. read more

If I lived on HHI I would frequent this place because overturn is high. The place is excellent for used furniture, electronics, books, lamps and other odds and ends. Not so great on the clothes. Prices are fare and it all goes to help the animal shelter. read more

As a thrift shopper, I have visited most local stores with much disappointment. The Litter Box is exactly what a thrift store should be! Their prices are reasonable and they seem to be keeping the cause in mind. As long as they continue operating the way they are now, they will gain customer loyalty and become the "go-to" place for others who have items to donate. Too many thrift stores in this area are full of "junk" and it's because nobody wants to buy used items for the same prices that they could find the products for brand new in a store. My sister and I come to Hilton Head every year and we go to all the thrift stores. This used to be one of our favorites. There was a lady checking out and was taking stuff out of a buggy onto the counter so I asked if I could have it because I had all ready filled a basket.....she said of course I could. A man behind the counter named Ben started screaming at me telling me the "baskets" weren't for customers. Because he said "baskets" I thought he was joking but he continued to scream at me and came around the corner, took the buggy and set it to the side. Everyone was staring and looking at me. He didn't scream at the woman that had the buggy in the beginning and she was pushing it around the store. I had some stuff I wanted and we continued looking but my sister put her stuff back and said she would not buy anything there again. I went ahead and bought what I had since the proceeds go to the animals but we will not go back to The Litter Box ever again. Oh and that buggy stayed untouched in the same place for over 20 minutes. read more

So I go here about twice per month to check out furniture since I have a resale shop in GA and I usually find something priced just right for me to restore and resell. Peeps are usually friendly in the front. Clothes aren't their strong suit, but they have their books alphabetized and a good selection of medical stuff donated from the older crowd on the island. I picked up some uniquely carved canes last year. They just spruced it up a bit as has every thrift shop in the island in the last year. Parking can be tricky but worth it. Toy selection is probably the best on the island. Their prices are right in line with all the other thrift shops, but selection in all the shops is hit and miss so don't give up after one trip. Lighting is pretty good, but not as good as St. F. Better than HT, CM or BB though. Don't think it is just the front room of the of the store. You have to go down a hallway at the back of the store to find the other two big rooms with the furniture and other goodies. Definitely worth a stop for a shop here. read more
