They were extremely accommodating of my varying schedule, leaving coffee out beyond the typical clean-up time. I'll stay here again when I'm overnighting in Iowa City. The B&B is on the edge of the Cornell College campus and about a 5+ min walk from downtown Mr. Vernon (with a charming main street). Located right outside of Grand Rapids, the property sits on what seems to be a brand new restaurant and shopping district. I had a one-bedroom suite and it was honestly perfect. Just the way I like it. Modern decor, good lighting, a fridge, and a Nespresso machine. The tv surpassed my expectations, fully smart tv compatible with Netflix and HBO Max available to stream. The bathroom was spacious with warm bright lighting, plenty of towels, and the shower had the perfect water pressure. The room was overall very cozy. The gym facility was very well maintained with plenty of cardio equipment like treadmills and Peloton bikes. There is also an indoor pool and hot tub next to the facility. I was insanely surprised. - Staff wasn't plentiful or super knowledgable but was kind. As an event planner professionally, a few things really stuck out to me. The program started and there was music playing from the sound system. The speaker on stage asked very kindly if they could turn that off but it took far too many requests for it to happen. I think they were fifteen minutes into the program! Additionally, you could tell the venue's event planner didn't test microphones or really look at what the lighting was like on stage. The microphones were too quiet and the lights on stage were right in people's eyes. These things were very noticable as a guest at the event. I felt so terribly that the folks putting on this super well planned program were set up for failure by this missteps by the venue. Overall, I love the vibe of The Highlander Hotel. I am so glad they renovated it! And again, I can't say enough good things about the food!

Water pressure was good, temperature nice and hot, towels fluffy and large enough to encircle a normal sized human. AC worked really well in the room and it was hot out so that was nice to come back to. I ordered coffee and breakfast my first morning which took longer than expected, but the food was tasty. Coffee left a lot to be desired.
