The entire place is very well maintained and somehow manages to provide modern amenities while maintaining it's history and authenticity. Like I said earlier, they somehow manage to balance new and old. The rooms are gorgeous and elegant, but are also set up with overhead projects and televisions. Perfect! Our lunch and coffee breaks were served in an adjoining room which was also lovely, on both occassions. Last but certainly not least, the price is right. I'm actually suprised at how affordable the Canonbury is for events. They also offer a charity rate which chops off a significant percentage. Be sure to mention if you're a charity though, they don't always ask!

It is a beautiful hotel, much smaller than Miami but that's to be expected in a large city. When we arrived to check in, we were greeted at the front desk and taken to see our room. I was immediately disappointed for a couple reasons. 1. No one wished my spouse a Happy Birthday, though we notated we were celebrating that and our wedding anniversary. 2. We were put on the first floor near the gym and the hotel was not at all full. Note that I am a Seeds member. 3. No extra blankets in the room, though that was requested. We left for a bit to eat and when I returned I expressed these concerns to Ilya. She immediately took action to upgrade our room and send a nice birthday treat and extra blankets. A special shout out to Slava as well for always being so pleasant to interact right. All in all, I think they are still working out some kinks being new, but still a beautiful place in the heart of London.

Hazlitt's is a townhouse hotel located right off Soho Square in Soho. The building is Georgian and dates back to 1718. The hotel has 30 rooms, all decorated beautifully with furniture and decor that matches the age and history of the hotel. There are several community spaces with couches and bookcases (one of the bookcases only has books by authors who have stayed in the hotel). There are also two honesty bars, well stocked with nice whiskeys, wine, and more. The hotel is named after essayist William Hazlitt who lived in and died in the house in 1830. One room - the one we stayed in - is also named after him. Other rooms are named after other people with connections to the building or to Hazlitt. With a building that dates back to 1718 there are going to be plenty of quirks! No lift/elevator (duh, but I thought this was worth pointing out as the hotel is four stories and that could be an issue for guests with mobility issues). The staircases are uneven. A marble dropped at one corner of our room would power down the sloped room! But the hotel is still very comfortable. Our room was tight with large bags but was otherwise very comfortable: large bathroom with a walk-in shower, a very comfortable bed, great A/C for a hot summer week, a minibar, and more. They offer room service and breakfast served downstairs in the community rooms or in your guestroom. What made our stay so special was the service. Every single staff member we interacted with during our stay was lovely - friendly and helpful. They wished us a good day as we dropped our key off with them in the mornings, and they welcomed us in when we came back to get our key when we came back each night. They gave us a tour of the hotel when we checked in. They brought us a great breakfast two mornings during our stay. They think of everything - there was even a small bottle of milk in the minifridge for us to use in our tea. I would probably have preferred to stay in a quieter part of London, but the the location of the hotel was incredibly convenient. The Tottenham Court Road station is just a few minutes away; and you can get the Elizabeth Line, Central Line, and Northern Line there. But we didn't even really use the Underground that often, because the hotel is so conveniently located that we were able to walk to lots of places on our itinerary (shows in the West End, Westminster, and restaurants in Soho and Covent Garden). Hazlitt's was a special hotel. There's so much London history in the walls, decor, and art of this hotel. It was exactly the kind of place I wanted to stay at during our first trip to London in almost 20 years. Staying at Hazlitt's was a highlight of our time in London!

The staff were......well......there, they gave the impression they had far better things to do than talk to you and although pleasant enough when asked something, didn't offer much of a warm welcome. Would definitely use it again when visiting the Albert Hall/Hyde Park areas.
