This hotel is conveniently located right at the heart of SoHo, as soon as you step out of the door you soon realize why you booked here in the first place. The neighborhood is bustling! Although the room is smaller than American standard and there is a lack of space to stow away your large suitcases etc, we found the bed to be comfortable, the bathroom is unexpectedly spacious with bathtub. 4 star for the complimentary breakfast in bed, location and the super friendly staff. But I will probably not come back here to stay or in SoHo area, I'll probably choose a quieter neighborhood!!

A beautiful building Hazlitt died in agony from stomach cancer in 1830 in a upstairs room. Many luminaries from the literary world paid him a visit while he was dying not knowing how hard he had found it to pay his rent

For our first visit to London we wanted to stay in a hotel with character. We found Hazlitt's listed in one of the Top 10 Guides. It delivered! Each room is unique and with its own character and, it's in the heart of Soho. It was a block away from the Tottenham Underground Station and around the corner from the theater district. The staff was very friendly and helpful and always willing to give suggestions on where to dine. Given the historic nature of the place, built in 1718, part of the charm is its crooked steps and sloping floors. The hotel is actually three homes combined together. Felt for the valets hauling our 50 pound suitcases up the stairs. Most of the rooms do not have showers, which provoked a little anxiety for my mother getting in and out of a tub. If this is important to you, you should ask about it when booking. Nicely appointed common rooms with good internet signal in-room. Remember that you are in Soho and it will get loud at night, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. If you want a quieter room, ask for a room away from the front of the hotel.

I knew I would love this hotel. The moment I booked it I had such high hopes for it. It's style is exactly my cup of tea. In any other country this hotel would not work, but in London is it perfect. For one thing it reminds me of Downton Abbey it felt like we were on the set. There was a romantic and intimate feel about the place. This hotel speaks to you, you'll know what I mean when you stay hear but it's endearing. When you enter, you buzz the doorbell, wait a couple seconds for the reception to buzz you in. Reception desk is manned 24/7 apparently. We were shown the library which doubled as the their "Honesty Bar", which works like this, you pour your own drinks from the bar and pay at your own discretion. Very much like you're at home. So this really works well if you're honest. We were also shown the drawing room which had a fireplace we cozied up to afew times during our stay. During some of our time in this drawing/reading room "the wardrobe" the staff served us complimentary crackers and cheese. There's a cute majestic cat that roams around enigmatically amongst these rooms depending on how cold it is I reckon. We booked the standard club room which were perfect for us. The rooms all had names, ours was called Sir William Ross. It was only up one flight of stairs which was only too bad for the staff member whom had to lug our luggage up but no doubt they are used to this. The room was decent sized and clean for all it's traditional charm. The bathroom was well kept as well. It has a bath plus extendable shower head. The only funny thing about the bathroom was the shutters didn't close 100% so our neighbours got to enjoy free shows, which is more of a bonus for them really. They serve breakfast but you eat it in your room, which is a nice change. I prefer this intimacy sometimes. You can fill out the breakfast order cards and hang them on your door outside before nighttime and you'll be served breakfast accordingly next morning. I forgot to do this one morning but you can still order over the phone but there's a 30 min wait time, which is no big deal. The breakfast I ordered that one time was delicious, that porridge was so amazing I was so full I couldn't eat again until late afternoon. The service is very helpful, they were very accommodating and polite. They were able to provide an ironing board and iron upon request. The only trouble we had was on the first morning, when the people staying in the rooms above us had a shower the water started to leak onto the bath in our bathroom. I reported this to the reception and they had this attended to asap. After that problem fixed, no problems. This hotel is located so conveniently in the heart of Soho, it really is unmissable if you're going to staying in this area. Bars, restaurants, cafes and entertainment are only footsteps away. During our check out they were able to book us a cab back to airport for a fixed rate with a trustworthy company which was cheaper than hailing a cab off the street. I would 100% stay here again, I would upgrade myself to better rooms now that we've tested this place out. My favourite hotel so far!

She made sure our luggage was delivered and answered our questions. She made me feel valued as a customer and at ease on a stressful travel day. The hotel is located within walking distance of the tube, Oxford street with Selfridges as well as many restaurants. There is a taxi rank located right outside which was very convenient. The rooms were very comfortable with plentiful amenities like complimentary bottled water, mini fridge, robes and slippers, etc. The bed was so soft and there were a good variety of channels on the television. All staff we interacted with at the hotel were helpful and kind. There was a fire evacuation on one of the days we were there and an announcement came on the loud speaker informing us to leave and staff members guided us to the exit quickly. The buffet breakfast was nice with omelets by request, a variety of hot and cold items (bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, baked beans, pancakes/waffles, fresh fruit and vegetables, juices, cereal, yogurt, pastries). There were servers to clear your plates and provide drinks. We had drinks one evening at the bar and Marco was such an entertaining and efficient bartender. He made our evening memorable and put so much attention into making our cocktails and providing us with information about the signature drinks available. Overall I would stay here again! The location was wonderful and we had a very comfortable stay.

And I LOVE how they would make the effort to remember our faces and names. The accommodations were pretty wonderful too! We ADORED the hotel's breakfast. The buffet alone was enough for a meal and it had so many options including fresh fruit, pastries, juice, smoothies, meats and cheese, etc. BREAKFAST WAS HEAVEN. I also really enjoyed the gym! Plenty of equipment. Upon arrival, they brought up chocolates and fruits. The chocolates were AMAZING. They also refilled our fruits and water in the room when the room would get cleaned. It was all the little things that made this place very special. We even stopped by the hotel pub (The Wigmore) which was great too and spotted a celebrity (Gerard Butler!) We had afternoon tea here as well and it was such a memorable experience. Truly a wonderful hotel and I'd highly recommend to anyone! One year later we were back for a mother daughter trip with another mother/daughter. I originally booked the St Ermins again, but then thought it may be fun to switch it up and stay in a new area of London. A friend/travel agent recommended The Marylebone Hotel, which met all of our requirements: - easy to get around in London - fairly priced by London standards - good shopping/restaurant area We arrived a little cranky from our flight in Edinburgh after a 2 hour Uber from the airport. They greeted us warmly and even told me they had an upgrade for me, although ran out of upgraded for my friend which didn't make her happy. To be fair our rooms were right next to each other and I didn't see a difference so don't think mine was really "upgraded" The rooms like most in London were small. We had 2 twin beds pushed together. It was basically like sleeping in one big bed, but we had our own set of covers which made my 13 year old happy. Everything was very clean and nice, but small. The attached gym was great. It seemed to be a popular local gym so was quite crowded, but if there was room in classes hotel guests could join. I did a leg class one day, which I enjoyed...although got a great leg workout just walking miles and miles around London everyday. The surrounding area was so cute - filled with boutiques (some unique to London and other popular back in the states). There were lots of little cafes to grab a treat as well. We spent a lot of time in covenant garden to see shows on this trip, which was quite the walk but great way to get exercise. And when we returned from the craziness of covenant garden it was nice to be in a quiet area. Breakfast was included in our daily rate. The buffet was adequate and I enjoyed eggs and coffee from the menu. We also received a $50 room credit, which we used to raid the mini bar the last day for some airplane snacks. I thought St Ermins was the perfect pick for my family's first trip to London since it was right next to the tube and near so many sites, but this hotel worked out perfectly for a mother daughter eating, shopping and shows adventure.
