We have given the Light Horse a good run since it opened but now found it's time to be put out to pasture.
After living in East Auckland for a few years now I have found that a half decent place to eat out has been been hard graft and we hoped that the Light Horse going to be our Lone Ranger and ride in and rescue us from the train of starvation that was quickly approaching but alas our hero never came.
We have ventured into the wilds of Highbrook a number of time to hitch up for sitting around the campfire and with a few drinks but have found that the service to be mediocre and the place to have a flat vibe, which we found disappointing as the owners are defiantly gone fore a cool hip look (that they have done well) and that it also has very little competition around it's in a prime on your way home location with miles of parking to swing in to have a drink and something to eat.
But it does have a few very good things going for it, the food is very well prepared and the chiefs do try and move from the norm with a few signature dishes and the range of beers on tap can quench these old cowpokes dry throats and the price is not a fist full of dollars and few dollars more so you won't go feeling like you have just been in a hold up when you have paid the bill.
It's just been a long hard ride for us to go hay lets mosey off to the Light Horse as there just not enough to grab us and say let's stick it out at the Alamo.
So sorry Light Horse these cowboys have to ride off into the sun set to fined a new place they can rest their weary heads and call home read more
