The Lemon Lounge is a very small scale club room, situated on Berry Street, above the Metropolitan. It is a relatively intimate venue with a capacity of around 200, making it pretty intimate.
At weekend's you can party till 3am at the Lemon Lounge; though it can go beyond this on some event nights. I can't really say much about the decor, with minimal expenditure you would suggest a bit of modernisation should be on the cards, though you could argue that it is more for dancing then sitting down having a pint.
Though as a club setting you would expect funky lightening; well you'd be disappointed, it isn't really my scene but generally people seem to just be happy standing around the DJ and getting the occasional drink. Not the best for the smokers; if you go to the outside area there's a smoker friendly area and there are a number of broken, rotting pub benches in an un-kept small yard; not the best seating unless you're not fussed about ruining your outfit!
I would say the Lemon Lounge is pretty much for student crowd. The Lemon Lounge attracts mainly students; it holds different music nights each week from house to drum and bass.
The drinks are very reasonably priced, which supports the students' wallets, however there isn't a lot of choice with it being a small bar. I prefer a pub atmosphere but The Lemon Lounge isn't that bad, especially if you want to dance all night, drink cheap drinks and mix with lively students. read more
