Our one-year-old daughter just started this month, and the staff have been incredibly sweet and attentive with her. From day one, I received plenty of photos and updates showing exactly what she was doing throughout the day. That level of communication made me feel so much more at ease, especially as a parent leaving a little one in someone else's care for the first time. In just a short time, she's already learning to spoon-feed herself and is showing so much more independence while exploring and walking around with confidence. Our four-year-old son has been attending for a couple of months now. He had been struggling with some behavioral challenges at his previous daycare, but since switching to Guidepost, we haven't had a single issue. The difference is night and day. The teachers here are clearly well-trained and experienced. They have a calm, confident presence and complete control of the classroom (which is no easy feat with a group of four-year-olds!). They keep the children engaged while also teaching valuable social skills, like how to play cooperatively, share, and respect personal space. In addition, our son has multiple food allergies and sensitivities, and the team at Guidepost has been exceptionally supportive and accommodating. They've gone out of their way to not only make sure his dietary needs are met, but to support me as a parent during what has been a tough transition to a new diet. More than anything, what sets this school apart is how much they genuinely care (not just about the kids, but about the entire family). I wholeheartedly recommend Guidepost Montessori!

I looked in to TWELVE daycares/schools in the surrounding areas of Somerset, Piscataway, Edison and Metuchen to find the best fit for me and my family. Guidepost Montessori by far stood out amongst the rest. There is no other school that teaches the practical life skills curriculum and montessori method like Guidepost. During my initial tour, you could sense the professonalism of the facility amongst the rest. I love that they allow the children to choose what they want to do/learn day by day. It is not your average school that has the same curriculum for every student. Each child is taught to their standards and their likings and that's is so necessary in little children. Whenever I walk into Guidepost, the guides and staff are always so professional. You always see each guide being so attentive and nurturing to their students. There is never a moment you walk in and they are not doing their job. I have went on several tours and was instantly turned off due to their staff not being attentive and/or using the cell phones. Guidepost is NOT like this at all. I was instantly attracted to their Nido room when I saw Ms. Gioia sitting and clapping with the babies. You can see the love and care she has for each and everyone of them. I knew I would be in good hands leaving my baby here. The facility. is also VERY clean! I love that they do inside shoes and outside shoes and for the NIDO class room they wear shoe covers to keep the floors clean for crawling children. If you're looking into Guidepost, you won't be disappoint. This is definitely a great place to have your children. My oldest son is in the mixed age Childrens House class and when I come to pick him up he gets upset and says "He doesn't want to leave." At Guidepost, you will be well taken care of. You will be well at ease knowing that your children are in good hands at Guidepost.

Our family was defrauded by Cedar Hill Prep…read more We were promised small class sizes and first-class facilities. When our child started school, it was apparent that they had repurposed an old storage room, and that the student:teacher ratio was far worse than advertised. When we complained about the state of the classroom, rather than do the right thing and hire additional staff, the school administration expelled our child from the school on zero days' notice, despite having no documented behavioral or academic issues of any kind. During the expulsion meeting, the administration admitted to being unable to hire additional staff and _intentionally_ overbooking the class sizes during registration. The founder of this school is obsessed with metrics. If your child represents a threat to one of those metrics (be it student-teacher ratio, standardized test scores, etc.) then they will absolutely throw your child under the bus to make the school look better. Be warned.

My daughter thrived here at first and I loved it. But at the end when she came home every day…read moresaying the teachers were being mean, yelling at, and picking on her, my gut told me she needs to be somewhere else. It started when she came home with diaper rashes so bad I could not touch her to clean her or put her in her bath water on separate occasions. They were told several times she was super sensitive down there and it only takes a second to look. Then it was the call to the Division of Child and Family Services because she had a stain on her shirt and a leaf or two in her hair. Because I missed the memo that playing outside with your child in the morning instead of shoving a screen in their face was wrong. Then it was the push to get her evaluated for every little problem. She is an only child, so she was a little late to talking but once she started, she has not stopped LOL. But there was no need for a speech evaluation and I told them that but I did it anyway because I want to do whatever will help my child grow and thrive. They nearly laughed at the end of the evaluation because it was pretty much a waste of their time, but whatever. Then it was them saying they will help with potty training and telling me every day she wasn't asking or going potty at all. And that her behavior was "out of control" and not listening to them even though on two separate occasions she came home with bite marks from another student. My daughter can be a handful, there is no denying that. Then it was them "removing" her after giving me three weeks to change a 3 year old behavior. She is not somewhere else and OH MY GOD she is miraculously using the potty, listening to the teachers, playing with the other children. It was not my child that needs to be evaluated in this situation, maybe it's their teachers or methods.

The owner is passionate about child development and the curriculum fosters a happy day of learning while maintaining a habitual routine that helps all students. The facility is state of the art and very clean, I don't want to jinx myself but my son has never been sick in the twelve months he has attended. The teachers and administrative staff are on the ball with keeping the center safe and clean. Most importantly, my son is smiling and playing everytime I pick him up, which is a testament to the environment of the center. Thank you TLE!

I lost track of how many directors there were in the years my daughter was there. My daughter was recently diagnosed with ADHD and PTSD from an incident at the school. She started acting out in class and we were trying to get help with a doctor, however, our doctor wanted detailed written reports of each incident so she could pinpoint what was triggering the behavior. The owner kept promising reports, which are pretty standard and were always provided by the previous owners, but we never saw a single written report. With little to no warning, our daughter was suddenly expelled at the end of the school year. Since it was so late in the year, we were unable to find accommodations for her for the summer and my husband lost business due to having to care for her. The owner did not follow any of the protocol written in the expulsion guidelines. She even wrote that we were given written reports by our daughter's teachers in the expulsion letter, which was a lie. I understand our daughter was acting out in class, but we should have been given formal warnings and written reports of the incidents. The owner had no sympathy. I also voiced my concern as my daughter was being hit, which I believe was the trigger for her behavior. I was met with aggravation and defensiveness, and nothing was done about it. We went to a birthday party about a week or two after the expulsion, which included mostly kids from this school, and our daughter was clearly the one being bullied by a certain child during the party. We believe there is more to the story that was not revealed to us. In conclusion, if your child needs any extra attention or has any type of special needs, this is not the place for your child.
