My children have had a really positive experience at Children's Lighthouse, and as a parent, that…read morematters so much to me. One thing I appreciate most is how welcoming and friendly the staff is overall. I've had a lot of interaction with Miss Michelle, the director, and she's always warm and present. She greets families in the morning, says goodbye at the end of the day, and genuinely interacts with the children. The kids love her, especially when she brings out fun little toys or prizes at pickup time. It creates such a positive environment. Miss R is also incredibly kind and bubbly. She's one of the first people you see in the morning and one of the last people you speak to before leaving, and it's always nice having someone so pleasant to chat with. I don't get a ton of face-to-face time with my children's teachers during drop-off & pick up because they're usually already inside the classrooms, but my kids absolutely adore them. They constantly come home talking about their teachers in such a positive way. I'll hear things like, "Miss Sandra helped me with this," or "Miss Sandra helped me solve a problem today." Hearing those stories makes me feel very comfortable and safe leaving my children there because I know they're being cared for with patience and kindness. I also appreciate how clean the school is. One thing I personally love is that they don't use sand in the play areas. As a parent of young children with textured hair, not having to wash sand out every single day is honestly a huge plus. The school uses a digital app to keep parents updated throughout the day. While I do wish the app was a little more detailed, it still gives me a good idea of my children's daily routine, like meal times, naps, and activities. Another thing I really appreciate is that all of my children's schoolwork comes home weekly. It allows me to actually see their progress; whether it's coloring, writing letters, or other developmental skills and helps me understand where I can continue helping them at home. Each classroom also has a monthly itinerary explaining what the children will be learning and focusing on. Whether it's science, math, or another subject, it's always very clear. I love that because it helps me stay involved and continue reinforcing those lessons at home. I also think it's really sweet how the school celebrates holidays and includes parents in activities. Things like making Mother's Day or Father's Day crafts, writing letters to Santa, or doing art projects together create really special memories for families. Overall, Children's Lighthouse has felt clean, safe, friendly, and structured. Most importantly, my kids are happy there and are genuinely learning, and that gives me a lot of peace as a parent.

The front desk is rude and obviously annoyed at anyone coming in for information. I would never put my youngest child here based off the initial demeanor of the front desk staff. Sorry for making you hit your button to simply unlock the door for information. I visited other schools and found some other really nice options what won't harm my child's wellbeing. If your kid is currently enrolled here, get them out before it's too late! The animosity here isn't normal for preschools.

Your care, patience, and genuine love for the kids do not go unnoticed. You each created such a meaningful bond with my children, and that connection is something every parent hopes for but doesn't always find. We transferred our son from another school, and the difference has been like night and day. He became more confident, happy, and excited to learn. Seeing that transformation reassured us we made the right decision. Now both of our sons attend this school, and it has been such a blessing. Our oldest is graduating TK this year, which is such a special milestone for our family. We've been part of this school since September 2024, and we truly appreciate the positive environment and support we've experienced throughout. Thank you for pouring into our children and making this season so meaningful for them - and for us as parents.

A very special shout-out to my son's infant teachers, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Yanin, and my daughter's preschool teacher, Ms. Daisy. They are incredibly patient, compassionate, and kind. You can truly see how much they love the kids, and it shows in the way they interact with them every day. I also want to recognize the director, Mrs. Greta, for her leadership and for retaining such wonderful staff during a difficult transition. One of the things we appreciate most about this school is that there is very little staff turnover, which says so much about the environment and leadership. The consistency means everything to families and to the kids. Thank you as well to Ms. Brittany and Ms. Kendra! Every teacher who has been part of my children's care has been phenomenal. Another thing we love is that the program is STEM-based and the kids use very little technology, which is so refreshing. Each month they highlight an artist, an author, and a science theme, and the kids participate in science experiments, creative projects, and tons of fun hands-on activities. Communication is excellent, the pricing is very reasonable, and the recent changes have been wonderful. We especially love the new app and being able to check in and see our kiddos during the day--it brings so much peace of mind. As someone who works in a public school, I can honestly say my daughter is THRIVING here. She is learning so much and is incredibly advanced for her age. We're so happy that we're planning to keep her here for TK and possibly kindergarten because the foundation she is getting is amazing. I always tell people that if the new company ever changed the way Ms. Greta runs this school, we'd be out of there--but thankfully the quality of education and staff retention have remained strong and consistent. It takes a special kind of person to care for and teach young children, and this team does it with so much love. My kids are always in good hands here, and we are beyond grateful.

If you're looking for a safe, clean environment, competent administration, structured learning, and…read morestability with trusted adults, then do NOT send your child to Discovery Isle in Murrieta. To be fair, there are some truly exceptional teachers here--Ms. Blake, Ms. Cathy, and Ms. Tina genuinely care about the children and made a positive impact on our family. Unfortunately, the overall quality of the school declined significantly during the 2.5 years my children were enrolled. While there were numerous concerns, the two biggest issues were safety and administration. Safety Concerns * The cameras mounted in each classroom appear operational but are actually nonfunctional. I understood from the beginning they were not intended as a live feed for parents, but I was under the impression that they recorded incidents for later review if concerns arose. I was disappointed to learn that was not the case. * The playground is not privately enclosed, making it visible from the parking lot. Any weirdo or creep on the street can observe the children at play. * Classroom windows have no curtains or coverings, leaving little opportunity to reduce visibility from outside during an emergency. * During a recent (~April 2026) threat that was reportedly made against Discovery Isle locations, administration chose to notify parents by email rather than through an immediate mass text alert. In a situation involving a potential safety threat, I expected a faster and more direct method of communication. Administrative Concerns * School communications--including emails, text messages, and newsletters--frequently contained spelling and grammatical errors. While this may seem minor, it reflected a lack of attention to detail from the leadership team. * If your childcare expenses are supplemented through a third-party program (ours was through the military), carefully review your invoices. On multiple occasions we had to follow up because credits were not applied correctly. This resulted in thousands LOST due to the credits not being applied and too much time lapsed for us to receive those funds. * Communication with administration was consistently frustrating. Phone calls and emails often went unanswered, leaving in-person conversations as the only reliable option. But in person conversations are not a viable option, given that administration will fabricate communications or imply that they never happened. (Pro tip: get EVERYTHING in writing with them. Even the things that don't seem important) * In our experience, administration appeared to form lasting opinions about children based on isolated incidents. Once a child was labeled as having "behavioral issues," it often felt as though every interaction was viewed through that lens. We received frequent calls describing incidents that seemed exaggerated compared to what classroom teachers reported. * When we attempted to discuss concerns directly, we often felt dismissed rather than heard. Conversations felt one-sided, with little willingness to consider parent feedback or collaborate on solutions. Ultimately, these ongoing issues led us to enroll our children elsewhere. The difference has been remarkable. Since changing schools, we've seen significant improvements in our children's happiness, confidence, learning, and overall development. The supposed "behavioral problems" have all ceased to exist, demonstrating the importance of who you entrust your children with. Every family's experience may be different, but based on ours, I cannot recommend Discovery Isle in Murrieta. I encourage parents to thoroughly research their options, ask detailed questions about safety procedures and administrative practices, and trust their instincts when choosing a school for their children.

If circumstances were different--or if I could just take the Murrieta Kiddie Academy crew with us--there would be zero hesitation in staying. We love you all so much! - Marissa
