We were lucky enough to find Vogue Salon and specifically Rachel and Katie. They were so sweet and most importantly provided great service. We were looking fabulous when we walked out the door and the best news is, they continue, 10 days later, to be perfect. We sure wish we lived anywhere in the state of Michigan because we would drive to get our haircuts with them. The appointment started an hour and a half late which I actually didn't mind at the time because she called to warn me she was running late. Things happen I understand. I told sarah when I arrived that I thought my hair was dry so I needed the deep conditioning treatment and that my goal was to let my natural dark blonde hair grow out. I had already let my dark roots grow out and I wanted her to DARKEN the rest. I didn't want to look like a 'fake' blonde. I reiterated that at least five times. However we needed this to happen- I wanted to go dark blonde. She told me that I actually had really pretty hair and completely understood what I was going for... 3 hours later my hair was SO light you could see literally see my scalp. My head looked like it was glowing. I cannot even put into words how ridiculous and fake blonde my hair looked. When I expressed to her how disappointed I was and asked her to please fix it- I literally said this is exactly what I told you I didn't want- things happen just CORRECT it!! she told me that she wished she had met me before 'I destroyed my hair,' that I should 'chop it all off and get a pixie cut after my wedding' and that 'it isn't her fault my hair won't take color' so I had HER 'stuck between a rock and a hard place' by not liking her work (really she had two people sitting in the waiting room and was over and hour behind after already pushing back the guys start time by an hour. End of story). I was SO mad and on the verge of hitting meltdown mode that I did exactly what I shouldn't have- I paid her anyway and walked out. I was so upset and embarrassed (my fiancé was speechless) I literally wore a hoodie to my 'emergency appointment' that I had to schedule all the way in north austin that night because it was the only place that had availability on such short notice. Thankfully Pinup Salon completely fixed her mess. Yes my hair takes color- I walked out of there so dark I'd almost consider myself a brunette and no- they couldn't believe how she let me walk out of her salon with that hair and they don't think I need a pixie cut. On a final note.. I called sarah repeatedly and left voicemails to talk to her about the appointment and ask for a refund after I had collected myself and calmed down. By the time she finally called me back days later and said she hadn't received any of my voicemails except the very last one I had had it. She can keep her money and I'll make sure to take my repeat business elsewhere.

Lakeside Spa...ugh. Where do I start?…read more My friend and I scheduled two massages there while on vacation on Mackinac Island. We both had Jacob the masseuse - a young fellow who we both question if he was even a licensed massage therapist. The massage was such a light touch - it didn't help relieve any muscle tension for either of us and he skipped "massaging" my friend's arms all together! You have a significant upcharge for any "service" other than the basic light to medium massage (it was never even near medium) that included deep tissue, reflexology, anything. We both said to the front desk girl it was the worst massage we ever had! Girl shows mild interest and says "Oh? Sorry." My friend asked "Isn't there anything you can do for us?" Girl: "Umm...I could give you 10% off or you could come back tomorrow." Us: "No thanks. We'll take the 10% off." So, the $186 (!!) massage - $155 for 60 minutes plus a 20% mandatory gratuity add-on was minorly discounted. Gee....thanks. How about you get a qualified massage therapist instead? They count on one and done customers as they know they're not returning to this vacation island. Lakeside Spa has no right calling themselves a spa - absolutely terrible. They literally ripped us off as we didn't get what we paid for. Stay away from this place!
