The Last Shot is a statue in St Ann's Square, showing two soldiers in the throws of battle. It's a different style statue to many of those you will find in Manchester, which remember certain famous or important people of note.
The two soldiers in The Last Shot are injured but continuing to fight until the very last - this statue portrays the bravery of soldiers in war, and was ne of the last of this kind of statue, after the horrors of the two World Wars destroyed the previous perception of the glories of the military life.
This statue is also bronze and stands upon a granite plinth, and was erected in 1908. I quite like this statue because of the interesting scene it portrays, and I'd be lying if I didn't say that I've sat here and eaten my sandwiches a couple of times at lunchtime. It's a good spot for people watching in the centre of St Ann's Square. read more
