This mural is the work of Stefan Ways, who painted the piece in 2020 using funds he generated through a go fund me. Campaign. Ways hopes that the mural will inspire children and adults alike to consider their larger self, take responsibility for the bigger picture of our planet and to understand that for every action is a reaction, and that all life on earth is interconnected.
The mural depicts a young man looking up with a sense of pride, with a white outline of another face offset from his. The model Ways used is named Noah, a local whom he got connected with through a brief call for a model on Instagram. The background of the mural is colorful and bright with a dark blue base. You will see 3 geese, some green foliage, and a humpback whale in the background, along with neon purple and blue items or creatures. I like the way that Ways incorporated the walls garage door, grates, windows and wrapped the mural around the building seamlessly. Ways even used the dumpster in the parking lot and blended it in with the mural. If you look at the lower left portion of the mural, you will see the names of people that contributed $50 or more through the Gofund me campaign.
This is a nice mural, spawned out of a notion by an artist wanting to simply do something positive during the peak of COVID. The artwork is on point and Ways is very talented.
There is some space to pull in and park in front of the mural, or you can find one of the metered street parking spots, park there and walk over to get a closer look. As with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. With that being said, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. read more
