It was 10.25 on Wednesday evening, February 25th, but we were turned away by the young barman, as he said he had already called last orders and wasn't letting anybody else in. Now, my husband and I were very disappointed, as everywhere else in the town had been so welcoming and accommodating. We walked across the road and had a few drinks in another bar, as there are plenty of nice places to choose from, BUT, if I was the owner of this establishment, I would not be best pleased at young bar staff turning my customers away. That is a lot of revenue to lose over the year if this is happening every night, especially with the cost of living at its current high and the daily struggle that pubs face to stay profitable!! Maybe a bit of staff re-training wouldn't go amiss and a reminder of who pays the wages!!

The pub is wonderfully located off the beaten track in the Old Town part of Stratford and is a regular haunt for many of the locals. There is a pool table and dart board and on various days of the week hosts a number of local leagues which merely adds to its genuine feel of a good old fashioned English pub. There is a large garden which basks in sunshine throughout most of the day (when the sun shines) and when it rains a large permanent canopy keeps you dry. The kitchen never fails to produce wonderful food and on certain nights of the week offers a special themed menu, sometimes Curry night, sometimes Gourmet Burger night and sometimes fish night. Every other Sunday the pub hosts a quiz night which is good enough to challenge the Little Grey Cells but relaxed enough to be a fun quiz to take part in. And all in aid of the Air Ambulance. The New Bulls Head (formerly the West End) is quite simply the best pub in Stratford.

I was amazed, to be honest i'm used to bouncers being short tempered and sometimes pretty brash with you (thats just part of city life!). After tasting a rancid drink of Tomato juice where I could tell it was definitely off and tasted acidic and was bubbling (working). Manager refused to accept it was off. Oddly enough wouldn't try it though. Refused to refund. I have used this restaurant regularly on Sundays prior but I will think again about the future. He just smirked showing his total disinterest.. I think they thought I was just a passing through customer and would not be seen again - how wrong. Overall the food was good and the waiting staff were brilliant. Shame that the manager was less helpful therefore letting the team down. I have made a complaint and will see if they reply. Update: Visited today 24/8. Spoke to a professional supervisor, she listened, understand my complaint, apologised and rectified the situation. So much better than my first interaction with management. Thank you.
