Like so many malls around the country, this one is on life support. Depressing. Dick's Sporting Goods seems to be doing okay. But overall, all the stores are overpriced. In the Food Court, there is a Mexican place that serves up burritoes. I didn't try one, because they seemed overpriced. Next door was an Asian restaurant. Your security is rude & uneducated, time for a class on service animals! Kicking someone out due to their service animal is grounds for contacting the DOJ, along with never returning. Sad to see a dying mall turning away paying customers because they aren't educated on what a service animal is and what they are & aren't allowed to ask, how to identify them, and what is and isn't required for them to be indoors! 10/9/25 security guard needs to undergo some retraining! read more

Half the mall is closed. I couldn't believe how many vacant store spots there is. Near the kids area 2 of the 3 food places were closed. At 1pm. The mens bathroom was dirty and I would never sit on the toilet seat. NEVER. Only 1 sink works and the hand soap was empty. The drinking fountain outside the bathroom was broken too. The mall made me feel sad for it and Muskegon. They deserve better. read more

Nice mall. Good amount of stores. The security guard was very nice. The mall was clean. I thought it was a nice mall.

I mean... it's a mall in 2023. So basically a zombie ghost town. It was dirty (probably can't afford to pay in house staff adequately anymore) Not a great selection of stores unless you're into shoes or Auntie Anne's pretzels. My son did like the little kids play area which was probably where 60% of the non employees were but even the giant carousel in the food court wasn't operating. Deserted mall! I visited for the first time on a weekday morning close to lunchtime and was literally the only person there outside of employees. I parked in the very front row of the lot and walked up and down the indoor area without encountering other people. The stores were so quiet that it was pretty creepy. Employees were just sitting on their phones or hiding out in the backrooms because even the open businesses didn't seem to have people running them. Literally every other store is permanently closed, so you have to walk past multiple boarded up spaces. The majority of the anchors stores have closed as well, so you can't even enter through the Sears or Younkers entrance. This place creeped me out and seemed so out of date or as if the apocalypse had come. So sad! read more

This place is slowly going down hill. When it first opened about a decade and a half ago it was great, full of businesses and very well kept. Now there are either empty spaces or they are filled with horrible businesses that will make it a year if they are lucky. It is most likely that the big timers like Penny's, Younker and Sears keep this place a float. The only thing the The Lake has going for it now is the recent addition of Grand Havens famous Righteous Cuisine in the food court! read more

This mall is different. It needs a lot work. It's a great place to walk and stay away from the cold. Not much shopping can be done here unless you really like need something that no one has. Plenty of parking outside. Plenty of walking space inside. read more

I can remember when the Lakes Mall first came to Muskegon. Everyone was really excited that Muskegon would be getting a brand new mall. Until that time my parents had to take us to Grand Rapids for any type of mall experience so this was a great thing for the city. The mall was really nice! It had every store I liked and was even was a good hangout spot on the weekends. However, it seems the years have not been kind to the Lakes Mall. A lot of great stores that were once there are gone and and have either been replaced with something else or are vacant; it kind of gives the place a depressing vibe. I can't say anything good about the upkeep or cleanliness of the mall either. The parking lot is filthy and the inside isn't much better. I don't live in Muskegon anymore but would love to see them renovate or at least clean up the place; the city deserves it. read more

My lasted visit to the lakes mall was very disappointing. The stores are leaving, the restrooms are filthy, the landscaping is unkempt. The parking lot is in need of re coat and striped. The glass needs cleaning. The dining area needs new tables and reupholstered seats. What a disappointment! Clean it up if you want to keep business. read more

This review is for the mall itself and not the assortment of stores or the stores themselves. You can tell that current management does not concern themselves with mall maintenance and cleanliness. The bathrooms are disgusting. The carpeting is filthy. I can see why there are so many empty storefronts! Why would a retailer pay high rent for a mall that management doesn't care about. Soon this mall will go the way of the Muskegon Mall that was downtown. read more

Has plenty of store's, food court, kids area, many activities like .V.R. testing, and great hotels and reasrurants nearby. I like this mall because for my birthday and other special events I get money and just get to roam freely throughout the mall and buy what ever my heart desires with my friends or family. If you live nearby its a great place to go to buy things for yourself, treat yourself with a diverse amount of things to buy around this mall from fairly expensive items to fairly cheap items, from store to store there is a new sale of fair sizes, I love this mall and I hope you do too. read more

I started coming to this mall back in 2003 when I was attending Baker College. This mall is not bad.

When I was in Muskegon in August for the Crocs AVP Volleyball tour the first two days were really rainy and windy weather so we were delayed setup. I went here to decide to walk around and check things out. Younkers was a surprise to me since I'm from the Detroit area where macy's and Nordstrom is more common. Compared to malls around my area the mall was really small and I was disappointed by the food court. But I did like the updated selection of stores and the layout of the mall was not bad at all. Since there is not a lot to do I would recommend stopping by the mall a must. read more

A bunch of stores are closing but there's still some major stores like Victoria's Secret left. A quick walk through though. BUT THERE IS NO PLACES TO EAT, only 2 restaurants and both aren't major places like Taco Bell. You can go here for some small shopping or a quick walk around. The "lakes mall" is a joke! The store fronts are way to expensive so the GOOD stores are all leaving. I have not shopped at the mall for anything except my jewelry and even then the only store I shopped at with good prices and quality was booted out (Fred Meyer) because the lease was to expensive. I am with Matt, shop around the mall not at it. There is no food court what so ever and it's full of teeny bopper, low class, cheap, clothes. I have lived and Muskegon my entire life and still remember the fountain in the old mall with the cool area to sit and watch people. The "lakes mall" has nothing to offer and no memories can be made. They should have saved their money and put up a pole barn! SHOP ON HARVEY STREET OR SHERMAN, don't go to the mall. Humid as hell, all of the stores are suffocating to be in. And the employees in the stores are super unhelpful, hands-off, and uninterested. I know you work at a mall, but being rude just hurts the income. Lange's comic shop had the audacity to accuse me of stealing, for putting my own jacket in my bag because their store was super hot! Wow! First off the parking lot was riddled with trash! It was everywhere. Then in the mall, it just looked filthy! As we were headed to Dick's, we looked out the windows by the managers office and that parking lot and walkway were just as filthy. Trash was all the way butted up against the windows. Come on Muskegon, you can do better!! read more

This mall is dying and it shows. Half the storefronts are vacant and the bathrooms are a mess. There is also garbage all over the parking lot. The decoration is also dated and fading. They need to either put some money into this place or let it die already. read more

I think Muskegon should build a new mall with more stores like what they have in Grandville As much as I love it in Muskegon I think the mall is losing their customers. I find the workers a little annoying at times but then I tolerate them. read more
