The Knolls Learning Studio has been one of the greatest gifts to our family. Both of my boys attend, and it has truly become a second home to us. Miss Jen, Lisa, Tressa, and Ms. Chandlar have each played such an important role in helping my children feel safe, loved, encouraged, and excited to learn every single day. I know the Reggio Emilia approach isn't for everyone, and yes, the kids get messy--but to us, that's exactly the point. It means they're outside exploring, creating, digging in the garden, making art, using their imaginations, and experiencing the magic of childhood the way it should be. My boys adore checking the chicken coop for eggs, visiting the tortoise, and all of the hands-on learning opportunities that make every day an adventure. I especially want to recognize Tressa. Anyone who knows The Knolls knows how much heart she pours into this school. The countless family events, weekend gardening days, community-building activities, and little touches that make this place so special don't happen by accident. She has created an environment where children are known and celebrated for exactly who they are, and where parents feel welcomed and supported. Because of her dedication, we've not only found an incredible school, but also lifelong friends and a true community. As our oldest prepares to transition to TK this fall, one of the things we'll miss most is the comfort and confidence that comes from dropping our children off somewhere we completely trust. I wanted to update my review because I've continued to see so much growth and positive change since my last post. This school has truly been such a gift to our family. My son has made wonderful friendships with children who have grown right alongside him, and it has been amazing to watch. The teachers put so much heart, dedication, and genuine care into what they do every day, and it shows. A special thank you to Miss Jonnay! She has been an incredible teacher to my son, and I am so grateful for the care and attention she gives him. She keeps me updated, celebrates his successes, and truly understands him. Over the last couple of months, I've seen such a big change in him, he's grown in confidence, understanding, and independence. It means so much to have someone who spends her days with him, notices these milestones, and genuinely cares about his development. The support she provides feels like having a second mother in his corner. Miss Tressa has created such a special place for children to learn, explore, and experience their first years of education. This school is truly a hidden gem, and I feel incredibly lucky to have found it and to be part of this community. If you're considering this school, I encourage you to visit and meet the staff. Editing to recognize certain teachers: I have gone back and forth for over a year about writing this review. Parents deserve to know what we experienced before trusting this school with their children. Our experience started off well. Like every daycare, there were minor issues here and there, and we gave the school grace because no childcare center is perfect. The problem wasn't that mistakes happened. The problem was that the mistakes kept getting more serious, and every concern was met with excuses, denial, or an attempt to make us feel like we were overreacting. Looking back, I wish I had trusted my instincts and left much sooner. One of our first major concerns happened in the infant room. My daughter came home with bleach stains all over her pants. The teacher admitted they had sprayed bleach on her high chair, forgot to wipe it down, and then placed my infant in it. That should never happen. Then came something even more alarming. I picked up my infant one afternoon, and she screamed hysterically from hunger the entire drive home. I checked Brightwheel because I assumed someone had simply forgotten to log her bottles. Instead, I discovered there were no bottle entries because they had not fed her formula all day. Not a missed log..a missed feeding. As a parent, that is terrifying. Then there were the coyote issues. Coyotes were coming right up to the school fence and parents even photographed a coyote standing right outside the children's fence (see attached). Tressa's response? Cayenne pepper around the perimeter. It took months of parents pushing before only one small section of fencing was raised. To this day, much of the fence remains low. Another issue involved mold. The children's play couch had mold covering the bottom. Rather than simply acknowledging the problem and informing parents of mold exposure, the initial response was that it "might be black paint." Parents know what mold looks like. Cleanliness was another ongoing concern. My children routinely came home with dried food on their faces, dirty hands, and crusted noses. This wasn't dirt from outdoor play. They simply weren't being cleaned throughout the day. My children were constantly sick while attending this school. The final straw was something I still cannot believe happened. My daughter came home wearing the exact same diaper I put on her that morning. It was soaked, sagging, cold, and hanging to her knees. I immediately contacted Tressa. Rather than investigating what happened, her first response was that another child also wore Coterie diapers and the teachers must have accidentally used someone else's diaper. That explanation fell apart almost immediately. Coterie prints a unique quality-control code on every diaper in a package. The diaper my daughter came home wearing had the exact same code as the open package sitting in my house. It was the diaper I put on her that morning. Only after I sent photographs proving it did the apologies begin. That was the day I reported the school to Community Care Licensing. Despite all of this, I want to recognize the people who made our experience better. Ms. Chandler, Ms. Jonnay, Ms. Jenn, and Ms. Debbie are wonderful educators who genuinely love children, and my daughters adored them. I also want to acknowledge that my daughters loved Ms. Tressa as well. My criticism is not about whether Tressa cares about children. I believe she does. My criticism is about leadership. Running a preschool requires more than caring about kids. It requires accountability, transparency, and the ability to admit when something went wrong and fix it. Instead, I consistently felt dismissed. Concerns were minimized. Excuses came before accountability. I was repeatedly made to feel like I was simply a difficult parent for raising legitimate health and safety concerns. An experienced director once worked at the school and made noticeable improvements because she accepted responsibility and addressed problems head-on. I truly believe the school would benefit tremendously from hiring an experienced director and allowing that person to manage the day-to-day operations. Tressa, if you're reading this, this review isn't being written because mistakes happened. Every school makes mistakes. This review exists because of how those mistakes were handled. Your response to concerns was almost always to deny, minimize, or explain them away instead of simply acknowledging them and making meaningful changes. My daughters are thriving at their new school. Every teacher they've had at ANY school has described them as kind, respectful, and a joy to have in class. They weren't the problem. I wasn't the problem. Parents raising concerns about children's health and safety are not the problem. I sincerely hope this school improves because the children deserve it. But until accountability becomes a priority, I cannot recommend that families entrust their children to this daycare. read more

I have been unsure of wether to leave a review with my experience here, but after a while I believe it's the right thing to do to ensure other kids don't have to go through what my daughter went through and the most recent review from a former staff member just solidified my concerns. I had a very upsetting experience at this daycare and feel it's important to share so other parents can make an informed decision. My 1.5-year-old daughter attended this program for a short time, she was continuously getting hurt and no one seemed to know what happened , with the exception of 3 times when it finally got addressed right after and incident occurred and that week she was kicked in the face by by a kid on a swing, TWICE, two back to back days while outside on the playground. Both times, we had to visit the doctor to make sure she was okay. When I brought my concerns to the owner, instead of showing care or accountability, she blamed me and even my baby, saying it was my daughter's fault for not knowing how to walk properly and that she was a " late walker and that "she would learn." I was shocked -- she's only a year and a half old and still learning to walk steadily. Let alone on the hilly playground area they have . Any parent knows even 3- to 5-year-olds need close supervision around swings, let alone a toddler. The director also chalked up to injury description as a " raspberry" when in fact it was a big skid that covered almost one side of her little face. Both times! I was made to feel completely gaslit and blamed when all I wanted was to make sure my child was safe. Several of my close friends -- including ones who've owned or worked in childcare -- read the text exchanges and reassured me that the way this was handled was not normal or acceptable. Beyond that, I often arrived to pick up my daughter and found her unsupervised or in unsafe situations -- once she was literally eating sand, with sand inside her water cup, and no staff had even noticed me walk in. I also noticed repeated issues with hygiene: dirty diapers not being changed promptly, and even other children's wipes being used on Nora's face after I specifically brought sensitive wipes for her as had sensitive skin and allergies, and she came home every day with rashes all over her face. It was a heartbreaking and stressful experience, but I withdrew her immediately and enrolled her in a new daycare. Her new program has 10-20 years of experience and excellent reviews, and they confirmed that incidents like these should have been properly documented and reported -- and that what happened to us would never be considered acceptable. They also told me I was the 3rd parent/family that week who had transferred from this same daycare for similar or other concerning reasons. To make matters worse, I later heard that coyotes had been spotted just outside the school's fence from another parent, yet no communication or warning was sent to parents about it. I'm a gentle and trusting person, and I truly wanted this to work, but the lack of accountability, safety, and professionalism here left me deeply disappointed and worried for other families. I hope my experience helps protect other children from going through what my daughter did. My son has been attending Knolls Learning Studio for a little over a year and I've seen steady growth in both his social skills and academic understanding. He has built strong relationships with the other children and with every staff member he interacts with. I appreciate that it is a small school. It feels safe and it provides exactly what our family needs. I have never felt concerned about his well being while he is there. My son has been at The Knolls for over 3 years and has thrived here. He loves all his teachers and friends. It's such a great environment where they can be outside, water the plants, hang out with animals and play together. They are always doing art and having fun. In the classroom, he's learned to spell his name, count to 10 and is learning his letters. There is great communication and the teachers always take such good care of our son. My 2 yr old granddaughter absolutely LOVES this Preschool! You will not find a more compassionate, caring group of teachers and staff. The owner, Miss Tressa, is very easy to talk to and the teachers genuinely love each and every child. The facility is safe, secure, clean and the playground is awesome. A perfect blend of nature and a small school feel. The teachers are friendly and well prepared to keep the children engaged. I can not say enough great things about the Knolls Learning Studio. I was super nervous to start my Velcro baby in daycare. After touring the school with the Owner/director Ms Tressa I knew this was the place for my son. We did a few meet and greets during the day with the teachers and kids to for my son to get used to everyone and the transition could not have gone better. My son loves his teachers and the staff at the Knolls and doesn't want to leave when I come to pick him up. I have toured a ton of schools with my older son and now my youngest and the Knolls has been our best experience by far. read more

We had a lovely experience at Knolls Learning Studio for my infant daughter. The director was responsive and I loved how clear the school information and policies were in the handbook. We toured while pregnant and our daughter joined around 7 months. The teachers were so compassionate helping her adjust to the new environment and we saw her make leaps developmentally when exposed to the other kids & program. I loved the flexibility to create a schedule that worked for us and seeing my daughter bond with the teachers. The app and photo updates were great. Sadly we moved away, but we are grateful for the time our daughter spent here! read more

This preschool is great! They have a wonderful staff fully capable of proper care of our little angels! The facilities are wonderful too... from the cordial rooms where the children go to learn and play to the outdoor extravaganza in the outdoors yosemite like grounds. I love that they are in tune with nature and teach gardening and about mother nature to the kids. We came the The Knolls after needing a new preschool for our, at the time, almost 2 year old. The school is wonderful. The play yard is everything a kid loves. They even have animals! Chickens, a bunny, and a pig (coming soon!) kids learn so much from being around animals and I love that they incorporated that. The teachers are all so kind and you can tell they have a deep passion for teaching and caring for children. We came from a different school and didn't have the best experience. As soon as our son started at The Knolls, I could immediately tell he felt safe and secure. The right environment and right teachers are so important for kids to grow and develop confidence. The staff here are amazing! We loved Ms. Tressa, Ms Kamdyn, Ms. Zoe and Ms. Aliah, they all cared so much about both of my sons and I really appreciated the love and empathy they showed them, whether the kids were happy or having a tough day. The staff are good about making sure the kiddos ate (a snack I brought) or tried a new food they supplied. They were always on top of diaper duty and updating us via app about any changes. The pictures I received were great, too! We even had my son's birthday party here and all the kids had fun! I am sorry that our sons' early intervention services got in the way of attending more frequently and we didn't live so far. Our family just wanted to say thank you again. read more
