January 8/2023: What can you say about The Keg. Always great service from our server "Batman aka Jay". The place was not quiet in customers & loud in music. A little too loud for my taste. Had dinner tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We both had the 10 oz. Prime Rib and Baked Potato. All done to perfection. The service couldn't have been better. Every year on my dads birthday we go to the keg for a classic steak dinner, and every year it's a great time. The menu is very consistent with pretty much every dish guaranteed to be good, but some of my highlights include the steak frites with garlic chive butter, the garlic mashed potatoes, and of course the famous billy miner pie - which is free on birthdays! We brought my nephew here for his bday dinner. The restaurant was clean and nice and they seemed to have plenty of staff. The staff were nice but made several errors in our meals. Hubby asked for his steak rare but it was medium rare...they offered to replace it but he didn't bother. My cauliflower steak was supposed to come with asparagus but they left the asparagus off. My son ordered a Pepsi that never arrived. In spite of these mistakes, everyone enjoyed their meals and they compensated us with a dessert and tea. read more

The keg is one of my favourite restaurants for a reason. It's always consistently good. I go so much I pretty much order the same things every time. Tuna tartare, mushrooms Neptune and filet oscar. The tuna is always super fresh and the sauce pairs perfectly. I love that it's served with deep fried wontons! The mushrooms Neptune are so rich and flavourful the addition of lemon on top is amazing. The best thing is the filet oscar with scallops on top and lots of Bernaise. I always get a twice baked potato it had so much flavour packed into it I love it. read more

What a disappointment with takeout. We usually enjoy going pre-plague. But the takeout needs some work. Twice now, they've missed item(s) from our order. I didn't even bother to call them re: the missing item this time because it's such a hassle. I expect that I receive all the items I rightfully paid for. It's quite a disappointment. My family had dry steaks and were let down immensely. We also had to wait an extra 20 minutes past our designated time. We will no longer be doing takeout here, unfortunately. It's not cheap either. I understand only takeout is available because of this damn pandemic, but the price of the steaks and the gristle in the meat did not reflect the 35$ price tag per entree and to charge another 10 $ for bernaise sauce with tiny shrimp and scallops is gouge, there were approximately 15-20 Stale fries because they packed them in a sealed container. If I was reviewing the restaurant on the quality of the steak I had, or the wine or even value for money I would award five stars, but... We, a group of twelve, were sat at a table more suited to eight people, making service and dining less pleasant. The staff were helpful and tolerant, but not very observant when things were not satisfactory, although problems were addressed correctly once they were aware. My French onion soup was mediocre at best and did not augur well for the entree. However the baseball steak was a treat, succulent and cooked as I requested. The sides were not important but were satisfactory. My wife had a steak salad which was poorly presented but again the steak was excellent. I believe this restaurant could easily achieve a five star rating by focusing on the details and giving more space to the diners. All in all a pleasant visit. read more

A frequent Keg visitor. This experience was not Keg standards. Made a reservation for 2, table/half booth in the dining room. My friend & I arrived not busy 9:15pm, seated at the back of the bar. At a table/half booth, next to a group of about 10-15 very loud men, and loud music to boot. Our server came to the table (forgot her name- dark blonde hair, glasses, i believea rosary tattoo on her leg). Took our drinks, we stated we'd like separate bills so she knew right away. We both ordered a drink & I asked for a glass of water with my drink. She said she'd send us some bread. No plates, utensils in the napkin or steak knives on the table, she had to bring to bring it to us. We waiting a bit & she brought our drinks but forgot my water, I reminded her. She took our orders; Myself, Keg Classic Dinner NY peppercorned & peppercorn sauce, med-well with mashed potatoes start with a ceaser salad My friend, Prime Rib med-rare with a side of scallops & lobster Oscar with mashed potatoes. She brought the table of men a tray of water... still waiting for mine. Finally got it. My ceaser salad arrived, no pepper on the table, server was no where to be found, I waited, I went on the search for pepper on my own, no pepper mills on the tables around me, I found them in the servers area, I HELPED MYSELF. Waited a very long time for our meals to arrive over 1hr. Not used to that at the Keg. They were 2 other parties where we were sitting that our server had, neither parties ordered food, only drinks. So I don't know what took so long to get our food. When she dropped off the meals, she didn't remove the empty bread plate or my ceaser salad plate both put to the side of the table for her to take away easily, but nope. My mashed potatoes were cold, I waited for the server, took her a bit, I asked politely to warm up my potatoes, she kinda gave me a "look" & forced apology. I waited for my meal to be heated, my friend had no issues with his meal. My meal arrived, she set it down & walked away. My potatoes were hot, but the peppercorn sauce was missing for my steak . Waited again, she was attending to the group of men, didn't even glance towards us, I had to holler for her to come over. I told her the peppercorn sauce was missing, another "look" & forced apology from her. Continued chatting with my friend, eating my mashed potatoes & veggies, she brought the sauce, I poured it over my peppercorned NY steak, cut into it & it was bloody, definitely NOT cooked med-well. At this point I'm frustrated, didn't want anymore "looks" or forced apologies from her so I didn't want to let her know I wanted my steak cooked more. I waited, my friend stopped eating bc I was waiting, I told him too keep eating, no point having his meal get cold bc I'm having issues. A young man came & told us it was last call, I asked him if he could get me a manager. He said he would. We waited & a lovely lady named Lauren or Laura came, I addressed all issues to her in a polite way, explained that i didnt want to deal with our server & thats why i asked for a manager, she said she'd have my steak cooked more & that she will take care of my meal for me. I thanked her very much. She even asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, something the server did not. We declined. My meal was brought to me by the manager & she apologized again, she asked me to check the steak (still red/bloody), I choose not to say anything more, I said it was fine & thanked her again. Needless to say I did not eat my meal. I left an almost entire NY steak, mashed potatoes & veggies on my table. I was completely turned off by the red/bloody steak, that I couldn't eat. Sure I didn't have to pay for my meal, but I wanted to have dinner at The Keg, enjoy a nice steak & time with a friend. My experience was ruined by the service & my issues above. Our server came to our table with our bills (closing time). My friend said, "you didn't separate the bills as we had requested when you took our drink order", got that "look" again with yet another forced apology & said she would be back. We paid our bills chatted a bit more & left. He had a great experience & I did not. I'd would've rather had my meal proper & pay for it, then wait 3x for it to "be right " and get it for free, when in the end it wasn't right, I just gave up complaining. read more

Came here today on a Sunday evening to enjoy a nice dinner which I haven't had in awhile.. Had a gift card to use and as I ain't much of a steak kind of person was a bit hesitant.. But I ordered the chicken dish.. Had the bacon wrapped supreme with asiago rice and ground asperagus.. And a glass of Jacobs Creek shiraz.. All I can say is that it was awesome.. Chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside with lots a flavour..was a beautiful warm evening as well and ate outside which made it even better. Had the mini deserts creme Brule and mini brownie.. Loved it also.. Prices are a bit steep.. But the food is great.. read more

Not all kegs are created but this one should be close to the top. I came on a weekend at 3 and was surprised by the steady traffic coming in. Was it the early bird special?? Service was mediocre, the food portion was small, meal prices are expensive but the food was pretty good. I loved their Asiago rice more than the steak and calamari. Well... A Christmas Eve dinner... New York Strip .. Ceasar salad... and some cauliflower crispy things and escargot as an appetizer... I think other than a bit of good char broil on the steak everything else was bland... Cauliflower not crispy escargot almost tasteless... How do you ruin garlic and butter?? The Ceasar salad too was bland... Tasteless... Steak was fine but again nothing seemed to pop... Cept the credit card!! Kinda expensive for a very mediocre experience... I won't be back. read more

Good thing there is another one in Brampton now. This place was busy to the point of ridiculous most nights. The food is good. It's the same as every other Keg, so if you like a pretty generic but decent steak, there you go. They have messed up my food quite a few times in the past, and then they usually just bring your food back to the kitchen and get it re-done. Meanwhile, whoever you are with is almost done by the time your food comes back. They should offer to keep your date/companions food warm for you while they re-do it. Went to The Keg last night for dinner. We decided to sit in the bar area to eat as there was a 40 - 60 minute wait for the dining room. We found a table but was really dirty. I assumed maybe a family with a child were seated there before...? The server came to clear the table and then clean it. She sprayed the table then wiped the crumbs and remnants on the surrounding chairs that we were waiting to sit at! The server was just about to leave when I pointed out that the chairs had some crumbs. She cleaned them but we noticed the table wasn't really clean. We sat at a smaller table just beside the unclean table. The server also only brought two coasters for four people, then said she was going to get some more. They never came. I ordered the Thai Chicken and it was delicious but because of the lack of cleanliness, I'm seriously questioning if I will return to this specific location. read more

Went to celebrate my birthday. Recently it seems like the prices have gone up. My favorite item that used be the top sirloin and king crab has been taken out. Normally it used to be about 38 dollars or so. Now the steak alone was 33 and for king crab had to add $19. On to the food. My steak was cooked well and tasted like something I would make at home. However my wife's filet was completely overdone. Took 35 mins to get new one which now was undercooked. The 3rd time around my wife was too full from grazing in our plates to enjoy her meal. My daughter's fries were probably made about an hour before we ordered them and they just threw them in. Had to return them as well to have it made fresh. Overall didn't have a good experience at all and probably will not go to this location again. The kitchen has no idea what they're doing especially working with overpriced meat. read more

So I went back in for a friends birthday. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take photos of my sirloin steak I had done rare, with an extra side of veggies... But boy oh boy do their steaks go down very easily. In most places I have visited, I haven't been able to cut the steak thoroughly or priperly without some membrane coming off, or the meat being cooked medium well as opposed to rare or medium rare. Let's put it this way, it cuts like butter and the taste is incomparable. I often find myself going to The Keg when I want a steak because the atmosphere is absolutely welcoming. Our server was absolutely amazing. I may not be an anime fan, but most if not all of my friends I was with are, and it was amazing how our server connected with everyone and checked up on us every 15 minutes or so. If there's one thing I really enjoy about this place, it's the key attention to customer service, and them making sure the meal gets to the right person, made the exact way we like it. I also want to add brownie points for the free bread to satiate my hunger before our meal. It is always a lovely thought and the fact that it is free is an even better gesture on their end. All in all, despite the fact that The Keg is indeed a chain restaurant, the staff here do most certainly care about the clientele they cater to, and definitely deserve the five star rating! read more

I have been a Keg customer for years now. Over time like any place you develop expectations around what should be be delivered on your visit. To start the food, atmosphere, and friendlies of the staff was completely adequate. Had a filet mignon that was fantastic and completely made my night. That being said and the main reason for only rating this location a 3 star rating was as a result of the speed of our service. Every interaction with staff was left with a long wait before results. Our until drink order came out in 2 parts and took over 10 min. Any additional order throughout the evening wad met with long delays and often required a follow up request. At the price point you pay for the Keg I expect the service quality to match the product. It unfortunately it wad quite subpar. Frustrations were witnessed on the faces of every member of my party. Music was very loud & boppy'. Not really classy. I guess they are trying to attract younger folk. Even though it was filled with late middle age. Service was great. Steaks were awesome. Sad they no longer have peppercorn sauce. Now it's just pepper"corns". Dinner was amazing. Cooked perfectly. Prices were as expected. Only thing we would change is the music. Frequent this location quite a bit. Birthdays,anniversaries The Keg is my "go to" Food is always great but I ate at the bar section and was very disappointed with the service level. Not to mention my order was wrong. (Didn't complain as I was too hungry and wouldn't have been able to wait again for my food regardless if it was going to be comp'd) In comparison to the dining room wait staff the bar staff needs to step up to maintain that high service level and to justify the money I spend to eat there. Clearly one of the better big meatetarian chain restaurants. And they are solid and consistent in the delivery. We have been to this one in Brampton many times. We love coming here for the service and food. I recommend the Prime Rib rare to med-rare. My lovely wife likes the filet mignon, with the Oscar sauce as an add-on. Ask them they will do it. I don't like bacon on my filet, but she swears by it. Personal choice I guess. Also if they have the braised short ribs on special, JUMP on them, they are Fantastic! The escargot as an appi are super good. 5 out of 5 for service. 4 out of 5 for food. read more

When I was in town I used to love to come here and order the Bleu Cheese Filet. Always done right and tasted great. The filet is always wrapped in bacon and comes with big garlic cloves. Very tasty! The restaurant had sort of an "uppity" wannabe feel to it...but all the service was still polite. Prices were a little high, but that kept with the uppity vibe I guess. Oh yeah, I had some type of 3 part desert. That was awesome as well. Only four stars for the uppity vibe and high prices. Everything else was great. read more

I had to breastfeed my 4week old daughter and the server and hostess were kind enough to set me up with a chair in the women's bathroom. This gesture was definitely much appreciated. Just came back from this restaurant and I really enjoyed it. The food was absolutely delicious and the waitress was very kind and attentive. Only minor downside was the food portion. My dad got the sirloin (8 oz) with a side of mashed potatoes, and he didn't feel quite full. I got the same thing, and felt satisfied...not completely full. My mom got the pistachio salmon and she also didn't feel completely full either. You'd definitely need to order an appetizer if you're going in famished. My sisters and I went to the Keg Brampton (@ Bovaird and Hurontario) to celebrate a special birthday. It was a Wednesday night, so the restaurant was quite empty when we arrived for our reservation around 7pm. The waitress was really friendly, however the service was quite slow. It took a long while before our drink orders arrived which was a shock because it seemed we were rushed to put them in right away when we first sat down! The food came out promptly; however was not enjoyable at all. The 8oz top sirloin my sister ordered was cold and rubbery with very thick gristle. I had ordered the supreme chicken which was fairly bland and the brussel sprouts were hard, yet charred. Needless to say, we could have cooked a better quality meal at home instead. The evening started with giggling hostesses racking their brain to find an open table on their sheet as she couldn't tell if someone had crossed off a table - when entering the dining room, we noticed there was plenty. The waitress wasn't too bad, although she did come off as a little feisty when someone returned a diet coke because their beverage mixture was off. 3/4 steaks weren't cooked as requested. Ex: The rare steak was medium rare (but closer to medium). The creme brûlée was delicious. I complained to head office and they promptly mailed gift certificates that not only covered our bill but also covered our next visit too. Long time fan of the keg, just not this location. It also isn't owned by corporate, it is a franchised restaurant. Not to knock franchises though, others have flawless execution. read more

Had a disappointing experience at the Keg last week. Our meal was great and table service was fine. The manager/management was the problem. We purchased a car about 4 months ago and they gave us a $100 Keg gift card. We gave it to the server when paying and she needed the manager to approve it. Weird, but whatever. Well turns out the Keg switched gift card providers so refused to honor our gift card. They said a replacement could be issued but they want me (the customer) to call them (the Keg) to get their new service provider to issue a replacement card. Seriously? Telling customers to deal with internal business issues is such a weird way to do business. Keg should have honored the gift card and figured out how to correct it themselves behind the scenes. How embarrassing for the Keg to lose at least 4 customers over a silly $100 gift card - especially when this was a known problem (we were told this happens a lot). I would have expected this kind of treatment from a lesser chain but was dismayed that the Keg has sunk so low. read more

Stay away! I have been a loyal customer for years and have had good experiences until this evening... Whereas the order did not come out correctly and then the steak had to be returned to be cooked...what bothers me the most??? The same steak that was partially eaten was returned cooked. Just wondering how clean that makes the cooking conditions in back? So was my steak handled with tongs used to cook someone else's under-cooked steak?
