Big Tub Harbour Resort - Inside the cabin

Big Tub Harbour Resort

The Bootlegger is the restaurant connected to the resort. I've been coming to Tobermory several…read moreyears running now, and we always make sure one of our dinners is here. If you're not part of a large party, and you are willing to wait a bit if you have to, it's a must to have your meal on the outdoor deck patio, which overlooks the Big Tub Harbour with all the shipwrecks. The patio has two levels so there are several small tables for 2 closer to the edge of the deck. It's basically a pub, and has live music later on some nights. I hear that you get your meal for free if you play the drums for the band during your stay (but I haven't been there or played during the live music times, so I can't verify that). There are some big screen TVs indoors for watching sports as well. Our last visit was pretty much perfect. When we came in, we were the first to begin the wait list for an outdoor table for dinner. The staff were very courteous and friendly and it didn't take long at all. I was afraid lest we'd have to wait longer to get a table only for 2, but they seated us outside on one of the tables that accommodates 4, so that was great. We always get an order of Starvin' Sailor nachos ($14), and they always do them right. Usually they ask to make sure whether we want the jalapenos, and they didn't this time, but no big deal as they're on top of the cheese and pretty easy to put aside. The staff were happy to provide a second container of sour cream on request, and we always need it, because it is a generous serving of nachos. The new item for me this time around was a pulled pork sandwich ($13). Lovely! The pork was not at all dry, had a good amount of decent BBQ sauce, and the bun was nice and soft on the inside, good crunchy bite to the outside. Comes with cole slaw (not your gooey neon green KFC stuff, but pretty typically on the sweet side as for most commercial grade slaw) and choice of fries or salad. I always get the fries since I'm on vacation when I'm here, and they are always good - nice and crispy, never had them greasy or soggy, and they don't oversalt them up front. They serve the food in camp style dishware, and the booze beverages in glasses with cute character decals and slogans. Even my root beer was a locally available (unique for me) brand, Boyland Bottling Co., which came in a cute glass beer bottle. (Many items available in Tobermory that I don't see here in the GTA are from the U.S. due to the proximity.) Put together the food done well, the best view in Tobermory (apart from a dinner cruise) on a beautiful deck patio, and the awesome service, and I make sure we always come back. Did not disappoint this time around, these guys are a guaranteed repeat on our list.

Most wonderful place to stay! So close to the lighthouse and a great walk into town. The service…read morehere was amazing! Thanks to Jenn who helped us get a great place to stay and also gave us so many wonderful ideas to spend our time there. She got us to the right place for the boat trip to the Flowerpot Island. Her suggestions helped make our time there a real experience! Viviana and Marisa made our check in and out easy. They spent time talking and laughing with us. We know why people come back here time after time! Great personnel in housekeeping too! Don't miss this place! It's a real winner! Can't wait to feel the homey feeling and enjoy the quiet again. I don't think we ever stopped smiling! We celebrated our 40th anniversary there and will never forget it! Patty C.

We stayed in Owen Sound for a weekend in Tobermory since there was actually availability here. The…read moreBest Western was by far the least sketchy place to stay here, as a lot of the other lodging we looked at were older motels. At least Best Western does have the name behind it. They have one EV plug in here that is free to use but slower for charging. The guy that checked us into the hotel didn't really seem all there. This hotel is dog friendly and we had 2 pooches with us. It seems like they put most of the dogs on the first floor. The lobby had a microwave out there for common use and free coffee was laid out here in the morning. They have a restaurant here called Bishop's Landing that does all meals. As for the room, it was comfortable. It definitely could have been cleaner. There were rogue hairs everywhere in the bathroom, particularly the shower. For example, there were ones under the bathmat that waved hello as the water ran under it. The hotel is located right next to the marina and there are paths that you can take for a scenic stroll at sunset. Not the best stay but for one night, this would probably still be my go to place to stay in Owen Sound.

Instead of coming to me and asking me about the situation or trying to resolve any issue they terminated me at once without any cause. I found this extremely frustrating and unprofessional as well as them knowing I had already left my previous employment.

Excellent. More like a hotel than a motel. I took a point off for shoddy WiFi. But perhaps it was good to disconnect from the world. This was perhaps half a kilometer away from the tip of Bruce peninsula and an Easy walking distance to Bruce trail (10min walk to the start of the trail), or if you want to go see shipwrecks also 10mins from glass bottom ship dock sites. Food was easily accessible from this location as well. Basically everything was walking distance. Facilities were brand new and clean. The bathroom was spacious. There is a Fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave!!! Bed was the perfect firmness. The pillows were incredible. The comforter was perfectly insulated. It was 40s outside and we never needed to turn on the heater. The entire place was well insulated. The TV had google, Netflix, and Hulu. But we couldn't enjoy bc of the shoddy WiFi. ....I think that's all of Canada tho this wasn't the first place where we had a hard time with WiFi. Also a nice balcony when weather permitted. Had two chairs to sit and watch the Bruce peninsula in the distance. Ample parking. I did not want to leave this place. So comforting coming back from a long hike to a place like this.
