I love birds and there are plenty around, and pretty feeders to entice. My friends ordered burgers and fries. The fries portion sizes are huge here. Its likely best to share if you go with someone or order an extra small fry. Their burgers looked amazing! I dont eat beef, yet they were deluxe patties with cheese, bacon tomato and lettuce, plus mayo and ketchup. I ordered the avocado wrap and their house salad. It was so large and so tasty. The pickles which, came with, were quality pickles and to die for. I absolutely loved how quaint it was inside. It used to be the actual flour mill of Williamsford. Fully operational. As this was back in September I dont recall all the dates the man shared. However, when him and his partner took it over they did some renos in order to bring it up to code. When our order was ready, they brought it down to us on the patio. HEAVY plates and it was quite a distance to walk to deliver the food to us. I met them up the hill to help out. Upon ordering my coffee I was interested in their milk alternatives and the lovely man took his time displaying options for me and offering up samples of the "milks" so that I was pleased with my decision. In spite of customers waiting behind me. I was a little uneasy to have so many ppl behind me so I allowed them to be taken care of before I completed my coffee order. Really, really top notch, friendly, informative and pleasant owners. We had our lunch late and they were closing soon, yet they even stayed open to allow further time for us to all explore the varied books they have. While they cleaned and did the dishes. I had to make a trip to Owen Sound, Ontario for business. I am one of those people that, a…read moremotel/hotel room is just a place to rest my head, so I don't go for the most expensive/lavish hotels and usually don't stay at chains. So when this chance to travel came up, I jumped at it and immediately headed to Expedia to find a motel. I chanced upon Travellers as it was offering a deal in its' "New Wing" and I took it. I arrived on Monday, May 30, 2016, earlier than the expected 3pm check in that Expedia kept alerting me to. I had to wait 15 minutes for the desk to finish cleaning a room but that is fine with me, rather a clean room than a dirty one.. especially if it might be my rental next. :) Anyways, she had been having trouble with the credit card machine (it looks like the New Wing isn't the only new thing, as the office and the entire building appeared new) so she asked someone to come out to the lobby and help her. Once we got the credit card straightened out, I was given and RIFD/NFC room card (not a key, but a key card) to my room and given instructions on where to park and where to enter the building at (interior hallways on this wing). The new paint on this wing is grey and the walls an off blue it looks like, with white doors and black numbers, but it still looks respectable. They paint and work is still going on, so there was the smell of fresh paint in the office and the hall. When I got to the room, it was very nicely done for what I would call a budget motel (they advertise the lowest rates in town), with a brand new bathroom, bed, decor and flat screen TV. The ONLY drawback to the room for me, is that I have a CPAP machine (for obstructive sleep apnea) and there was no power supply in the wall near the bed (on either side) and in fact, I had to unplug the table lamp to get an available power supply at all. If you are in Owen Sound and want a nice room at a reasonable rate, I would suggest Travellers Motel. I will add pictures in the next day or so, once I take them.

We purchased beautiful unfinished maple mission style dining chairs and paid a very reasonable price to have them stained. If you are inclined to take on a stain or paint project, they have endless amounts of wood furniture and accessories. We purchased a solid oak bench that we will stain and finish ourselves. The staff are helpful and friendly. You get a real mix of quality of products throughout the store but there is something for everyone's budget. Definitely worth the drive from Meaford!

Our hosts Miriam and John were lovely and gracious, and the space was perfect for our needs. I had a hard time looking up places to stay in the area as I was in Michigan and it just seemed there was very little useful or well-organized information about housing or rentals online. I'm so glad I found this place! They were always prompt with answering emails and accommodating concerns and turned out to be an ideal place to stay. The home is very nice and well maintained. Very large! There must be 7 rooms I think, although not all for guests. It apparently used to be a county doctor's home in the past. There is a large common area on the main floor with a fireplace, but we didn't use it as our rooms had a great living area enclosed. The Crow's Nest room area at the top of the BnB is great for families or small groups as it has two adjoining rooms and a large living area and a tv and small balcony and well-equipped kitchen, and is great to just "hang out" and play games, catch up etc. The grounds here are beautiful! We played frisbee in the yard, lay in the hammock, chatted on the lovely deck. The lawn is very well maintained! There is a firepit, veggie patch. I haven't even had the breakfast yet (that's tomorrow morning) but the hosts were very accommodating with our requests for a diabetic meal for my mom. There is a restaurant down the street (Sulky Sam's) which came recommended from the hosts, which we enjoyed as well :) Nearby there are all the great things the Bruce trail and recreation area have to offer. Port Elgin is great for relaxed cookouts with the family, Sauble beach is right there, and then a scenic drive from Wiarton to Tobermory is not to be missed (Flower Pot Island, Chantry Island, etc). STAY HERE! We've stayed at BnB's in Mackinaw, Michigan and in Stratford, Ontario among other places - this is our favorite so far!

Miriam put me in contact with Sandra Howe from sole and spirit. Miriam was prompt in answering emails and worked with Sandra and I to make this an unforgettable experience for me. The home has a Victorian look and is well maintained. My room was on the main floor at the front. Its room was large with a comfortable bed, an ensuite and furnishing to match the time era. The grounds are well kept with gardens,a fire pit and a place to just relax. I enjoyed the hammock, the covered glider and chairs on the spacious deck out back. Miriam's breakfast was excellent what a cook. I'd recommend the restaurant down the street (Sulky Sam's) or the BBQ chicken dinner at the Legion. (a short walk away) A not to be missed spot is nearby Paisley. Sandra who provided my transportation to and from the bus station, shared the history of the area on the drive. I did a bike tour that was personalized to my needs and seen the Mills. The next day Miriam showed me the route to bike to Arron Lake, a scenic ride and relaxing spot. An excellent trip,all very affordable,no car or bicycle needed. Back to city life now.

The…read moreBest Western was by far the least sketchy place to stay here, as a lot of the other lodging we looked at were older motels. At least Best Western does have the name behind it. They have one EV plug in here that is free to use but slower for charging. The guy that checked us into the hotel didn't really seem all there. This hotel is dog friendly and we had 2 pooches with us. It seems like they put most of the dogs on the first floor. The lobby had a microwave out there for common use and free coffee was laid out here in the morning. They have a restaurant here called Bishop's Landing that does all meals. As for the room, it was comfortable. It definitely could have been cleaner. There were rogue hairs everywhere in the bathroom, particularly the shower. For example, there were ones under the bathmat that waved hello as the water ran under it. The hotel is located right next to the marina and there are paths that you can take for a scenic stroll at sunset. Not the best stay but for one night, this would probably still be my go to place to stay in Owen Sound.

Instead of coming to me and asking me about the situation or trying to resolve any issue they terminated me at once without any cause. I found this extremely frustrating and unprofessional as well as them knowing I had already left my previous employment.
