We were looking for homemade ice cream and came across Island Creamery on Yelp. We hopped in the…read morecar and dashed over; my plan was butter pecan but I tried the cherry jubilee and was sold. They were super friendly and offered to do a single scoop half/half...I've never encountered a place willing to do that. I got two scoops instead. I was taken aback when they served it in a hot dog tray, but I went with it. When I returned a couple of days later for another cherry jubilee, I asked that it not be put in the tray. They obliged...BUT...the ice cream is kind of soft so it was melting quickly...hence the tray.

The ice cream itself was great, and the portions were generous. The customer service from the staff…read morewas friendly as well. I also appreciate businesses that hire younger employees and give people what looks like their first opportunity in the workforce. The reason I'm only giving three stars is because there appeared to be an owner or manager who was constantly micromanaging the young employees. While I was checking out, a blonde woman with a baseball hat making cones aggressively corrected and criticized the staff in front of customers. It wasn't just giving direction, it came across as embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch; even comparable to downright bullying. Constructive feedback is important, but it should be done respectfully and when possible in private, but instead she openly berated them in front of customers as well as each other. The employees were doing their best, and the atmosphere would have been much more welcoming without that dynamic. I'd happily come back for the ice cream, but I hope the management style improves for the sake of both the staff and the customer experience. Hopefully this brings attention to the right people so it can be addressed on behalf of the staff.

But it's closed now! We went by today and it's been replaced by the most depressing business ever -- build your own cookie. Who wants a cookie on your way to the beach?? Snowballs. People want snowballs. You don't want to be covered in melting chocolate when the Assateague ponies make a run for it. Hoping that Cool Runnings reopens somewhere else -- it was a gem.

Owned and run by Ms. Kim and her sweet goddaughter, the hubs and I were super excited to run into this place while we were in OC. It was super hot, so we wanted to cool down with a Snoball - we chose half lemon-lime, and half blue raspberry - this was absolutely refreshing and delicious! Not too sweet, and the syrup tasted like it was homemade and it was just the right amount to flavor the ice! If those flavors aren't your thing - no worries! They have a chalkboard that lists an overwhelming number of flavor choices! We also noticed some ice cream made from a local farm, so we purchased 3 tubs to-go (which ended up being super delicious!). There is even a little 'beach' area where you can sit down and enjoy your cold treats. Great cute place to check out when you're in town - I highly recommend them! :D +Snoballs :D +Lemon-Lime & Blue Raspberry combo Snoball :D +local produce and ice cream available +ask for Ms. Kim :D +private lot for parking

We arrived around 7:30pm and the lines were fairly long. I figured I could browse the menu while in line and would be ready to order when the time came. Well, I was wrong. The line moved incredibly quickly. I went with a basic chocolate and vanilla swirl with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry. I felt like before I could even finish ordering I was being handed my sundae! Portions were large and the ice cream was very good. After we finished, my mom got back in line to order my dad's sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, and his favorite topping, wet walnuts. Once again the line only took a few minutes. We got his sundae home only to find out they forgot his wet walnuts. Even without the wet walnuts the sundaes were a hit! Large portions, great ice cream, and a classic shore-town ice cream stand vibe. We'll definitely be back during our next stay in Berlin.
