I called on Friday to see what was going on with the prior authorization, I was told that the med techs take care of it now. So they would be working on it, I said that if I didn't have my medication I would be going through withdrawal over the weekend so what should I do about that. Tina said I'll talk to the med techs and make sure they're on it. I never received a call back. It was a very tough weekend. I called back on Monday, spoke to Tina again. I told her I wanted to speak with Janelle, she asked me what was going on. I explained it to her. She told me that she would get to the bottom of it, I never received a call back. I called again on Tuesday, spoke to Tina again. She told me that all prior authorizations had been sent in and that mine was sent in. I asked her what day it was sent in and she couldn't give me the answer. She said that she would check with the pharmacy to see what was going on. When she told me she would call me back I let her know that she told me that on Friday and on Monday and didn't call me back. Her tone changed and she told me that they were not responsible for how long it took my insurance company to approve a prior authorization. But she told me to be patient. After the phone call I called my insurance company they let me know that they never received any prior authorization from the office, so I asked if they could send one in urgent, and they did just that for me. I called the office back and let Tina know that I called in for an urgent prior authorization. Tina called me back a half an hour later to let me know that she spoke with the pharmacist and that the medication would be filled today and that it did not need a prior authorization! I checked with the insurance company and they approved the prior authorization 13 minutes after I had asked for it, that's why the pharmacy was filling it. I asked Tina to have Janelle call me, that still hasn't happened. The office closes in 20 minutes. I appreciate the treatment from the doctors I absolutely do not appreciate being treated the way I was by Tina in regards to the prior authorization. There's no reason it should take three phone calls and an extra 4 days without medication to get a prior approval. I was able to get it in 13 minutes. All that needed to be done was a phone call from the office, but I kept getting the runaround. Tina told me they were not in the business of giving people to run around and that I should be patient.

After another doctor recommended I see a spine intervention specialist, I found this practice online and gave them a call. I reached an answering machine and left a message asking how long it usually takes to schedule. I never heard back. More than a week later, I finally did get a call, but not because of my message. No, the only reason they called was because my other doctor had forwarded a referral. The one positive? Unlike most Richmond-area doctors, the wait time between scheduling and the actual appointment isn't three months long. That's something. I'll update this review after my visit. But for now, if you value a smooth front-end experience, this probably isn't the place.

Being the only pain management I can see in the area, and breaching contract to refuse Medicaid patients is horribly disappointing and unacceptable. I am severely disabled and in cronic pain due to lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and more... and for YEARS they have been yanking me around until they finally just flat out illegally refused me service. This means there is no pain managment care in the area I can go to, when am literally crippled BY extreme pain. This is not only unethical, but inhumane and cruel.

The receptionist at this practice is atrocious, I don't know what is going on in her personal life…read morethat causes her to act this way to people just trying to get some help or if she was just born with hate in her heart but she is terrible, it's almost like she's trying to deter patients from coming to the practice to lessen her workload. I called to find out with what was going on with getting my husband in for an appointment for epilepsy evaluation, mind you these are patients with neurological disorders and that is already a scary thing!!!!! I don't know anything about health insurance or neurology practices or the medical field and am just looking for some help to make sure my husband is okay and healthy. She answered the phone with a sigh like she didn't want to do it, I was very polite because I was raised to be that way I don't know how she was raised maybe by wolves , I said yes mam I saw an appointment was made for my husband by his scheduling team and just wanted to see if it was made or what was going on , she instantly got nasty just asking for his name and said " yes it was made but I don't know how they were even able to make this appointment" like it was a problem, I ignored it and remained polite, she then told me it was cancelled because they don't accept his insurance. I asked politely "you don't accept anthem?" She got even nastier and started going on a disrespectful rant about yes they accept anthem but not under an umbrella and you need to call the insurance. I tried to ask what that means because I'm not a professional and am just trying to understand, and she just kept raising her voice higher and speaking over me. When she was finally quiet I said "mam im sorry if I'm bothering you I'm not trying to I just don't understand what this means and am just trying to get a better understanding." She then lost it , "YOU ARENT BOTHERING ME RAR RAR RAR" I said you sound a little bit frustrated and I just want to apologize if I'm frustrating you I'm just trying to get some help. Then she got angrier, she said " I WASNT FRUSTRATED BUT NOW I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE FRUSTRATING ME NOW BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW ME AND I DONT KNOW YOU AND RAR RAR RAR ANGRY" and in my head I was like what the heck is going on with this lady, Why is she working in a neurologist office because this is serious stuff and she doesn't have an ounce of compassion. I politely asked to speak with someone else at the practice and she told me I would have to hang up and call back. I was shocked that she would be able to continue working in the office after the way she spoke to me. God forbid she continues to speak that way to other people throughout the work day. This was a horrible experience and I am immediately looking for another option. Like I'm trusting you with my husband's brain and this is the welcome I get that is beyond frightening. The thing is even with insurance not covering it I still would have been willing to pay out of pocket to make sure my husband is healthy and okay because this is where his doctor referred him to and we are just trying to trust the medical system. We are not medically educated and greatly appreciate any explanations or help. I cannot believe this lady is employed in this field of work and really hope they consider this interaction and give her some sensitivity training or if she is beyond help just let her go. Completely turned me off to any bon secours location. Because their employment standards are very low and that is concerning especially in the medical field
