I chose to reach out to Mad Hatter tattoo based on the artwork I saw posted on social media…read morechannels, a lot of which showcased fine line work, which is exactly what I've been looking for (and is hard to find, quite frankly, because it requires true talent). This isn't my first tattoo but I knew that with this specific piece I was going to be picky about the layout and style. I had a tattoo design in mind for a while, and Ethan did nothing short of deliver exactly what I had hoped for. Ethan is an old school artist - a laid back, patient, non-corporate dude with artistic integrity (with a love for death metal and cars, ha). He's perhaps a bit persnickety about his process, which only told me that he takes his work seriously and truly cares about his clients and his product. I was able to communicate with him via IG message, send him photos of what I was looking to create, and he worked with me the whole way through, and even sent me a rough draft of the design, which many artists don't do (much appreciated). He is flexible with his time and willing to work with you - he overall has a good energy and vibe. I ended up in the hot seat for 4 hours and felt comfortable with him the whole time. I look forward to coming back to finish up the shading, even though I've already received multiple compliments on my new ink :) If you're looking for someone who loves what he does, cares about his work and wants to collaborate with you to create a quality tattoo, I highly recommend checking out Mad Hatter and speaking with Ethan. I've never gone back to any of the other tattoo studios I've been to but I'm confident I'll be returning to Ethan if and when inspiration strikes again in the future!

To see his progression as an artist was not only inspiring, but I just could feel prouder. I brought in a design that I created and he did an incredible job bringing my vision to life. His attention to detail, precision and artistic talent truly exceeded my expectations. He took the time to make sure everything was just right and transformed the design I brought in into an absolutely beautiful tattoo. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Geo is not only extremely talented, but also professional, patient and clearly takes great pride in his work. If you're looking for a tattoo artist who will listen to what you want and execute it beautifully, I highly recommend him.

I was a returning client and had planned on getting more work done at Rebel & Rose. After my recent…read moreexperience communicating with the shop, I decided to go elsewhere. I reached out because I was trying to book another tattoo. During that process, I was told that "all bookings come exclusively through me," instructed not to "contact our artists directly," and eventually asked to "please refrain from contacting the shop" because the "surplus of calls and emails have been making our staff uncomfortable." I understand that I reached out multiple times, and I completely understand a business setting boundaries about how and when clients should contact them. If they had simply said, "Please keep future communication to email and wait for us to respond," I would have respected that. What I didn't appreciate was the way it was communicated. As a returning customer actively trying to book and spend hundreds of dollars on another tattoo, being told that my communication was making the staff "uncomfortable" made me feel extremely unwelcome. What made the situation stranger was that the conversation eventually went right back to normal booking information -- availability, estimated cost, appointment length and deposit. That was the information I had been trying to get in the first place. I had considered getting significantly more work done here in the future. This experience changed my mind. Artists and employees absolutely deserve boundaries and respectful communication. Customers deserve the same. A shop can be busy and have strict booking procedures without making a returning client feel embarrassed for trying to schedule an appointment. I'm not going to attack anyone personally or make assumptions about why this happened. I'm sharing the actual language that was used with me and how it affected my decision as a customer. I liked the work I previously received here. Unfortunately, good tattoo work isn't enough for me to overlook an interaction that left me feeling this unwelcome. I'll be taking my future business elsewhere.
