We usually do the deli plate with a selection of different and interesting veggie pates, a really interesting salad (and I mean REALLY interesting) and warm fresh bread. The cakes are fantastic too, I had a lime and courgette cake there once and it was bliss! Good value for money and we don't need any dinner when we have lunch here as the portions are very generous. The only thing that would make me loathe to leave a positive review is the danger of alerting so many people to this wonderful little tucked away gem that I might have to queue for my favourite outdoor table on the shady patio by the honeysuckle and bees!

There is a dining room that overlooks the town, a small family room with childrens play area and a compact courtyard that really traps the sun in summer. All the food is home made and vegetarian, with vegan options too and is changed regularly. There is also a good range of hot drinks available - I'd particularly recommend the hot chocolate!

I could not wish to find a more customer friendly cafe or restaurant and am looking forward to trying some of their wheat free bread. Katharine has also said that I could request The Loaf at Crich to do a packed lunch for my husband and I for our yoga workshop to be held in Crich on Saturday 21st July 2012. Anyway, as a recent resident of Sale I decided to have a look inside Serendipitea - the name alone had me sold. Stepping in from the hustle of Washway Road it's an oasis of calm in there, sleek, clean yet homely. The owner was incredibly welcoming and we got to chatting, they've been open 10 months and business has been good. Whilst I was in there a steady stream of customers came in, some ordered and stayed, some ordered and took out. At first I was only feeling like a hot brew, so opted for an Earl Grey which was from Stash Tea Company - it tasted delicious, not had a tea hit me in such a satisfying way in a long time. Anyway, after that I decided to grab a light bite as well so went for their scrambled eggs on brown toast. It was absolutely delicious. They have an all day breakfast menu which I'd definitely be trying again more thoroughly. They also have freshly prepared baguettes, paninis, jacket potatoes - and cake. I've found my Central Perk.

Whether I'm missing a few side streets I'm not too sure but most of the town centre seems to be filled with identikit chains and all the usual brands you'd get on any high street. Venturing a little further off the main drag, I spotted Rise with their board saying "best coffee in Wilmslow" so thought why not pop in and see if they're on the money with this! A nice little coffee shop with 2 friendly guys working, they seem to do a number of food options with me seeing everything from soups, sandwiches and beans on toast on other patrons plates around me. I ordered my customary Flat White and having picked up on the 'Aussie' voice of the barista I thought I was on to a winner. What arrived for £2.50 was a bowl of coffee - pretty much a latte which although wasn't too bad was about 4 times too big to be a flat white. They may serve the best coffee in Wilmslow...but all I could taste was the milk. When leaving urban centres there always does seem to be a drop in levels of knowledge or a bastardisation of a recipe to suit local needs and unfortunately the flat white seems to suffer from this... I should have gone for an espresso or macchiato instead... A nice little place, pop in if you're after a chilled out place for lunch.

They're easy going and there's good wifi, so it's a great place to perch up for the afternoon and check your emails. At the weekends he has local live musicians playing which is a little bit different to the other things on offer in Wilmslow at the weekend. They also have monthly art exhibitions at the back of the venue! And it's a great pit-stop at the busy artisan markets every month. Again, dog friendly. So it's a winner in my book! James loves dogs too, always gives them a fuss and he has treats on the counter ready in exchange of a belly rub (of the dog of course...)

I had walked past a few other coffee places that seemed full and were noisy, even from the outside. I wanted a bit of peace. As I looked in the window here it was busy but there was room for one more. It was also peacefully quiet inside which was a bonus - placido domingo - quiet Sunday. It's a small cafe and sitting there almost felt like being in someone's living room. It has functional seating so it's not high up on the comfort and relaxation scale. I stood a short while at the serving counter while soon to depart customers paid up. I opted just for a flat white and paid up front so that I could depart as quietly as I arrived. The friendly server invited me to take a seat out of the one remaining table and he delivered my delicious flat white to me in a glass pretty quickly. I found the food menu inviting but as I was planning a good lunch I decided not to eat. I could see the home cooked food before other diners and it looked and smelled very good. As I sat I noticed one family near me had their pet dog under their table. Pooch was so well-behaved and I smiled that dogs are allowed. I suspect I'll be back here again, inshallah.

Popping inside to see what they had to offer, I was greeted by the friendly staff and perused their specials boards, opting for an Earl Grey and a sizeable brownie made with Galaxy chocolate - total = £3.10. Sat myself in the sun-trap in the front bay window and happily slurped and munched my way through my order (table service was in effect). All in all a thoroughly lovely and local place to stop for a cuppa and cake. Tip: They have free wifi, just ask the staff for the password.
