Always a hit for friends at parties, or just for a snack after the gym. I'm a fan of their hummus. Why by the grainy store bought bland hummus when you can have this? It has just the right amount of creaminess and flavor and their garlic pita chips are really good. I've tried their original, garlic, avocado and cilantro, and honestly it's hard to choose because they're all delicious! It's a win-win combination! read more

Although he is located in Petaluma, he makes the rounds to all the major farmer's markets (even in Napa). He is a smooth operator (enter Sade song here). His products are simply made but super delicious!!! Our group got a bag at the Napa Farmer's Market as a contribution to our Yelper picnic. His lemon pita chips were a perfect accompaniment to the artichoke dip someone brought for a picnic a few weeks back. It is a good thing I live in Santa Cruz or else I would be shamelessly eating these on a regular basis. SUPER NOMS! read more

I met the Hummus Guys in Central California. He speaks very passionately about his product, which highlights the great belief in his craft. I was born and raised in Algeria, and when I tried the Harissa sample, the flavor transported me back home. The taste is unique, which shows a lots of research work. I highly recommend giving it a try because this hummus is distinct and way refined than what is largely available. read more

I was at SUPER KING and Found this hummus and decided to try it. It is SPECTACULAR!!! I just realized as I went to write this review and looked at the container, that it says Zesty Lemon hummus. Whatever, it is, I cannot stop eating it. It is beyond beyond DELICIOUS!!!! I eat a lot of hummus and this is way way steps above what I can find or make. I am sold. And now since it is so easy to get at the Super King market, I will just have to make sure I eat it sensibly and in moderation. Honestly, I could have eaten the entire container in one meal. read more

Real talk. So real, it lives in all dimensions, and is viewed as a spiritual guru. This hummus tastes like the most regrettable things I've done in life, have come to live in my mouth. It tastes like it's angry enough to start a third world war in your digestive tract. It taste like petrol and betrayal. If you're satisfied with this package of caca, you cannot be trusted. read more

Want a filling picnic meal with friends? Just head on down to the Civic Center's Farmers Market on Wednesday and pick up some pita chips, some halva (though sadly he's often out of this), and some Black Bean with Chipotle Harissa hummus. All three of these items are made with much care and each has strong flavor. And while most farmer's market stand carry these items now, The Hummus Guy is one of the originals. Trust. read more

I first came across The Hummus Guy at the Sunnyvale Farmer's Market and I was instantly hooked! Since then, I've been making weekly visits to get my grubby wittle hands on their awesome variations of deliciously flavored hummus. Their Black Bean and Chipotle Harissa is to die for! I love the smoky, sweet taste of the chipotle. Pair that w/ a little bit of spiciness from the Harissa chili really makes this flavor stand out from the rest. Their artichoke hummus is great too, just not as smooth (there are chunks of artichokes in it) as the other flavors; still tastes just as creamy and fabulous. The pita chips are worth getting too, as they are as equally addicting as the hummus. I particularly love their garlic pita chips more so than their lemon. *$5 for each tub of hummus/ pita chips *They throw in for free hummus/chips if you buy 4 items or more :) read more

Updated review Having tasted more hummus- I can say with confidence that this guy's hummus is the best. I have very addicted. Original review below. lemon pita chips and cilantro and jalapeño hummus are VERY GOOD and the baklava is the best I have had in a really long time. I just think it is pretty pricey so I am not sure I would get it often. That is the only reason I knocked a star- it's pricey considering what you are getting. read more

I used to hate hummus. I like falafel, so it's not like I just disliked chickpeas. Something about falafel just tasted terrible to me. The Hummus Guy single-handedly made me into a believer. This review was typed while indulging in the black bean & chipotle harissa. Majorly regretting not getting more or trying more flavors. read more

I discovered The Hummus Guy at the Coastside Farmers' Market in Pacifica. They had around 5 hummus selections including avocado and cilantro, artichoke, and the black bean chipotle. I really wanted to love The Hummus Guy, but to be honest I didn't like their product. SERVICE: The man running the booth was in his early to mid 30s and doubtfully "THE" hummus guy. He was a decent salesperson, but seemed really frustrated when those accompanying the purchaser were uninterested in tasting the hummus. I observed this with the party in front of us (a lady and her friend) and with myself and my boyfriend. When my boyfriend is uninterested he tends to let his mind wander off, so he stepped to the side while I selected a hummus for myself to purchase. The salesperson kept trying to engage with my boyfriend who was clearly uninterested rather than focus his attention on me who had money out and ready to buy some hummus. PRODUCT: I ended up purchasing the artichoke because I LOVE artichoke. I thought the sample had a bit of an interesting flavor but couldn't put my finger on it. After I got home and started digging in, I realized that while the consistency was smooth I tasted neither the garbanzo beans nor artichoke. Rather the entire hummus has an overwhelming tasted of cumin. It was really disappointing. It was $6 for 8 oz which I now realize isn't even organic! For that price and flavor, I'll stick to my Trader Joe's eggplant hummus. read more

If you want strong flavor buy another brand. I bought the garlic and chive flavor and couldn't taste either. We had it side by side with another brand that was garlic and chive and it was so much more flavorful. My advice to the company would be: don't be afraid of flavor! When someone buys a flavor induced hummus, its usually because they want to taste that flavor otherwise they'd buy classic or original. Add more garlic and chives to the garlic and chive flavor and then you'll have great product. I won't buy it again when there are so many other choices. read more

Oh, for the love of god! Please bring the Garlic pita chips and the Hummus to the East coast!!! I travel 3,000 miles for the Hummus guy! The best, ever... if you can find them. The hummus here is really good. Even better than the ones made by Sunrise Mediterranean Deli on Irving St. They have about a dozen flavors. I tried the regular and the artichoke/cilantro. If you make a purchase of any one item, they'll give you a dollar discount on the second item. A small tub of hummus and pita chips came to $8. The pita chips come in 2 flavors, lemon and garlic. You can't really taste the lemon but the garlic flavored chips are great. They're fried in oil and very crunchy and delish when dipped into the avocado/cilantro hummus. But, you can only eat so much because the oil makes you feel heavy and a bagful will eventually make you look heavy. The saleslady told me they make the hummus in large containers and very large blenders. Good for 1 month unopened and 2 wks. after the container is opened. Eat up! read more

I have to take time off from the pita chips because they are so addictive! I like to look through the (huge!) bag and choose the ones with lots of tasty herbs. Usually, Mohammed is there to help me figure out what flavor of hummus I'm feeling up to that day, but today Sergio and Jake were there today. I was telling them about my addiction to the chips, and fortunately for them, it was my week ON. It's all about the lemon pita chips, and today I got the roasted garlic and chive hummus. I've tried a new flavor each time - there is such a selection you can go about 3 months without buying the same one! The co-owners are longtime friends, working hard to bring their great products to local farmer markets. And they're super nice and fun to chat with. Thanks hummus guys! read more

Those garlic pita chips are to die for.. probably because they are deep fried, and we all know that deep fried makes everything better. They're a bit oily and heavy, so try not to eat the whole bag in one sitting.. wish me luck... :/ read more

the hummus guy isn't your average farmers market barker. he brings humor, wit, chutzpah, and great tasting food products to the market. "4,000 dollars" when you asked him how much the fried pita chips are. "save the oceans" is his favorite chant, implying you won't get a plastic bag with your purchases. you will get a pretty thick one. locale: alemany (s.f.) farmers market (and probably many others in marin and sonoma counties) sampling: -lemon pita chips (4) lemon tinged, very salty, greasy. very addictive. garlic is the favorite but i like the lemon. -black bean with chipotle harissa hummus(cayenne pepper) (5) nice spiciness with smooth texture. food notes: -hummus made from family recipe, no cholesteral, no saturated fats. just fibre and protein. -hummus contains chick peas, sesame tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt -hummus/pita chip samples freely dispersed. -can't eat just one pita chip, too addicting. -pita chips with hummus pretty good snack food while surfing the net. read more

WooOooOahh, best hummus I've ever had!! I came across THG at Newark Farmer's Market where they have a mini stand propped up each Sunday. I've tried samples from there multiple times before my first purchase and every time I was served with smiles and patience. Staff is VERY friendly. They're knowledgeable about the products and lets you try samples of whatever you like! I decided to get their lemon pita chips and pita bread with original and artichoke hummus. It's sooooo good. The hummus is flavorful with a rich consistency and smooth texture. Everything is freshly made (especially the farmer's market batches: in small quantities to ensure quality)! At first I thought they only accepted cash, but credit card works too AND there's no minimum purchase! :D I believe if you purchase 4 items ($20) you get ONE free! I was a bit disappointed because I realized after I had left that I paid $25 for 5 items instead of receiving 1 free. However, because of the otherwise positive experience I had, I decided to just let it go and enjoy my delicious hummus! read more

Everyone who knows me knows that I am in love with the Hummus Guy and his products. I'm pretty sure he loves me, too. I visit him almost every Saturday. My favorite thing he makes is the Baked Tofu Salad. It tastes like feta but better. I think even the staunchest tofu-hater would love it, but I never share it so I wouldn't know. He always saves me a container of it. My second favorite thing is is harissa sauce. My favorite hummus is the cilantro jalapeno. The first time I met HG, he asked me if I liked mild or wild. I said "wild," and he said "I can tell." All of his hummus flavors are great, and his chips are off the hook. He's one of the few farmers market vendors who accepts credit cards! And if you buy a certain amount, he'll throw in free product! read more

I am sooooo glad I went with my mom to the Alemany Farmers Market with her last Saturday. I wouldn't have discovered "The Hummus Guy" if I stayed home! It's true...the garlic pita chips are addicting!!! He lets you try whatever kind of hummus you want with the pita chips so you can taste all the flavors and are satisfied with your purchase. We bought the Black Bean w/Chipotle Harissa and the Artichoke hummus along with a bag of garlic pita chips and a bag of white and wheat pita bread. I'm munchin on it as we speak. Soooooo delicious. Each container of hummus costs $4, and he will give u a $1 discount if u buy 2 containers. (cash only of course) I will definitely be back next Saturday to try his other hummus flavors! I must tell you I once love your product but today I bought it at Rainbow and it is so nasty and tasteless . I Purchase the Organic Original wow what the hell did you do to kill such a great product I will never know. First you killed the chips that was so dumb and now the Hummus. I don't live in the City so when I drive down I hit Stones town and rainbow so today I got my Hummus at rainbow the taste is awful the Hummus the only thing I can taste is pure lime. I'm piss off because I out my money because I have to drive back home to exchange it. Which is 27 miles and two bridge toll and I'm not happy. That's it for me no more and like I said I once loved your product but you have killed. You can keep your Organic because I know when to stop eating. Bad move. You just killed it! read more

Just wanted to share some love for one of my favorite vendor at the Campbell Farmer's Market. This guy is super nice, funny, and he has very fair prices for what he is offering. Hands down, the best hummus, olives, pita bread I've tasted in a long time. The spicy green olives are totally addicting. Just the right amount of heat and spice. My husband and I aren't even that fond of green olives, but there is something special about these. We used the remainder of the 'dressing' on the olives mixed with either mayo or sour cream and put it on salmon. DEE-LISH. Our favorite is the basil/sun-dried tomato hummus. Their pita bread is fluffy and best served heated. We tried the whole wheat pita, and I was expecting something close to cardboard, but it was very good as well. But I did heat it in a pan on the stove. No microwave for me for pita bread! A quick spray of some olive oil on each side is a nice touch. Their baklava is really very sweet. That's the only product I would not purchase again. But the phyllo is crunchy and there are plenty of nuts, just too sweet for me. Big time recommendation for his products. read more

Best garlic hummus ever. The chips are also really good. Have you ever gotten hummus that was thick and pasty? This one is soft and creamy.

Holy smokes!!!! A real food product with all real stuff that tasted like heaven. This is the best hummus i have ever had. I bought this at a discount market and sadly they only carried it one time but im hoping i can find it somewhere else. i brought the garlc and parsley one and would buy this by the case if i could. they started at a farmers market so it shows that the little companies do have great products. I live in Oregon so hopefully it will find a new customer base up here. Thanks for bringing back real food. read more

This hummus really is pretty good considering I make a very well loved & often requested hummus. Picked some up from the Campbell Famer's market when I lived close to there. The hummus guy doesn't mess around. He convinced me to buy 4 tubs of hummus with his magical marketing skillz (or perhaps the pita chips I was sampling them on, mmm), and I have no regrets. They're about $4 a piece and while a bit pricier than what you might find at TJ's (and for the record, I do love TJ's roasted garlic hummus), they're sooo fresh. Like, he probably just made them that morning fresh. The artichoke was surprisingly good (surprising since I don't love artichokes), and you can't go wrong with the original. Black bean with chipotle harissa was expectedly delicious. The only one I wouldn't get again was the avocado & cilantro -- a little too sweet. Can't wait for my next hummus adventure! Getting the pita chips this time. read more

If hummus was never one of your favorites food, The Hummus Guy will change your mind. HG is funny and knows how to pull you in. He's not yelling things like "free samples." He waits for you to walk up close to the table, talks to you and hands you samples while describing each one. You can tell he is very enthusiastic about his food and stands behind it. I got two packs of hummus: roasted garlic & chives and roasted red pepper. Each pack is 8oz. This is my first time buying hummus and although it's a bit more expensive than in-stores one, it is definitely worth every penny for fresh, delicious hummus. My big mistake: forgoing his pita chips for Whole Foods pita bread. Next time I'm at Farmer's Market, I'm definitely getting more hummus (hopefully he does not run out of the spicy one) and pita chips. read more

This is my go-to place to get my hummus and I always like to have a jar of hummus on hand. :) They come by the Campbell farmers market every Sunday morning and I like to grab some hummus and whole wheat pita bread if I'm running low on them. The hummus usually lasts about a month, which is pretty good. I've had places that tell me it lasts a month and I find mold growing on it way before expiration.. But I have never had something like that happen to me here. The pita bread isn't 100% whole wheat, but it's the nice soft chewy kind so it's yummy. Everything here (hummus, pita chips, pita bread) is $5 each. Pretty simple. My favorite is the black bean chipotle hummus. I also like the original and garlic chive one though! I had their baba ghanoush as well and I didn't think it was exactly something to write home about. read more
