Reasonably priced beer, wine, and spirits. The layout of this venue is a mess-so many sets of doors, it's like a maze. The merchandise for sale was almost impossible to locate after the gig, as all of the exits put people out onto the street again. This was disappointing, as I hoped to buy merchandise. The staff was incredibly rude and ignorant, speaking badly about the artist performing that night, and making fun of the people who had queued overnight to be front row. It was highly evident that the venue staff did not take their jobs seriously at all. Fortunately, the gig was fantastic.

They are so bad that a few years ago, motorhead could not play there as deep purple were there when motorhead would have been there. motorhead then played exeter university that night and have never been back to plymouth. The other problem is the scheduling, where there is no one there all year and then everyone comes in November. I suppose this is common, though. All in all, not as good as the old St austell collisseum - ah, those were the days!!!! Oh, and there is a skaiting rink and other things to do, although I have never sampled these.

The volume of the music is very over the top, so proper musicians earplugs are a must. The toilets are possibly the most horrible in Exeter, although the dank feel of the place is quite fun for the audience. However, any band members over 6 foot tall need to be wary! The venue has attracted an impressive level of famous bands over the years, although The Hub is now a major venue for similar not quite famous touring bands. The doors always open late, which is real pain in the winter.

Extremely busy place in the summer so it is better to make reservations for dinner to avoid disappointed, only fresh food is being served so if you arrive too late they might sold out of your favourite meal by 8:30pm. Big shout to the staff - you are superstars!

Part of Exeter University, great place to see live bands, open to everyone, not just students…read more One of the few places in Exeter where you can see international bands usually only featured in the larger stadiums etc. Very reasonable prices for tickets, often international bands at local prices. Not brilliant for disabled facilities, nearest car park is accessed via many steep steps. Main entrance is also up a flight of steps. No seating facilities in the hall for disabled, although you can sit in the bar and watch bands over the heads of other people, but not really helpful. Accoustics very good, access to band merchandise usually very good for the bigger bands. It is quite usual to be able to meet various members of bands that are playing as well as buying their merchandise. Only drawback is finding the place if it is your first time, once you have been, you will have no trouble going back for more live music!

Although pushchairs aren't welcome in the cafe there is a large lounge/bar area inside which is great (and gives them somewhere to crawl around) and an outside space (although the canal is very close so supervision is needed). Cafe fare isn't top quality but it's OK - there are better places in Tavistock if you want good coffee but this is near the park and swimming pool and so can be a handy stop-off. Often art/photography exhibitions in the lounge area.

First off, the coffee is one of the worst I've ever drank. A cappuccino does not usually consist of filter coffee and steamed milk. There is a reason why this is not common practice, because it is not nice. £1.40 for a coffee is comparably cheap in Tavistock, and they could easily charge £1.80 and use the profits to train their staff to be proper baristas and use better coffee. The gallery, from previous experience, is very poor. The methods of hanging on the walls include blu-tacking the poles attached to the pictures which often get knocked and then appear wonky. The walls are painted less than frequently, and there is a huge piano sat in the way of access to the pictures. The wharf is often closed for functions and so paying exhibitees do not receive true value for money. The cinema is mainly disused. The films are often months out of date and the screen and audio is atrocious. The poor audio makes the theatre, as a live venue, equally poor.
