I highly recommend these guys. Not only are they very thorough and I feel confident with their work, they bent over backwards going above and beyond to get my inspection scheduled quickly so my family wouldn't be stuck in a hotel longer than we had to be. We are talking within the day of us signing the contract to buy our house. We had such a better experience on this end than with our house SELLING inspector who used phrases like "might be" and "could possibly" which led us to believe that she had no clue what she was actually talking about. They were fast, professional, and knowledgeable and I 100% would trust them again. read more

Overall, the inspection went well. The gentleman was very professional. The only thing I wished would have happened was that he would have let us know that he could not inspect things. Because of what the owners had things in the house during the inspection, we could have had them moved. Because of that, the entire inspection could not be done. And so we had things that we didn't know if some items were working. Now were being told it will be more money for him to come back. Lesson learned: make sure there isn't anything obstructing the inspector performing a full inspection and you or owner's agent can, immediately, move the obstacle. Overall, I would recommend this company. They inspected a previous property and I was pleased...happy house hunting! read more

It was reassuring to have someone reliable as we live out of state. Purchasing a home from out of state can be stressful.

Chris was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. We appreciate the get job he did. We would definitely use them again.

From the first phone call to the office who took down pertinent information, quoted us the cost and followed up with an email, I was comfortable. Rick from the Home Exam was punctual, professional, sweated in the heat and completed our home exam in a most professional manner. He was receptive to our questions and answered them respectfully. We are grateful for the recommendation to this business. I WOULD NOT HESITATE to use them again. read more

Absolutely amazing. He arrived a little early, and even brought water and some soda pop cans to stay cool for me (it was over 90 degrees). He was very thorough and would talk to me while he was working, he gave me a rundown when he was done and then sent the typed up and official report within 24-hours! If I ever purchase a home again, I will use this team read more

Mike came out and did a great job with my new build inspection. Very thorough and very flexible with our schedule changing a couple times.

Mike Chevalier was very professional and thorough. Purchasing from out of state and was The Home Exam was very helpful in answering our questions. Very pleased and will use them again on our next purchase. read more

Chris, the person who inspected our new home-to-be, was thorough, professional, and very encouraging about our selection of this home. In addition to looking for potential issues, he pointed out the positive attributes of the home. Because of his genuinely pleasant disposition, I invited him to "stop by for a lemonade" when he has another inspection in the neighborhood. Nice Team. Nice work, The Home Exam. read more

Run, don't walk away from the company. This is one of those companies where you want to give them zero stars. I was not present during the evaluation, as I lived out of town. I trusted they would stand by their word/work. BIG MISTASK. They are nice and friendly, however, if you the home you are looking at has any real problems they would not be able to tell you, even if it was staring in the face. Home inspection companies can only assess from what they see, they are not allowed to open a closet door or move a dining room chair. The Home Exam sent out Paul. Yeah, he told me the door knob on one of the bathrooms was on backwards. And there was a little bit of wood rot on the siding. But the things that really mattered, he was clueless. He mentioned the sliding glass door did not open/ close well. Well, the door had a gap on the bottom left side and top right, why, because the floor there was a crack in the foundation causing the door frame to bend and be much lower on one side. But Paul never looked past, the door didn't close well. Not sure what he did to check the water pressure. Because if he turned all the faucets on at the same time, he would have seen a significant drop in pressure. Lucky for me, the city came out and it was on their side, problem solved, no thanks to The Home Exam. He noticed one of the outlets was not legal, but did not check if they all did, which they did not. During renovations, found old termite damage, which was mentioned in passing on his report. To cut him some slack, it would not be apparent during his exam, however, the mold was a different issue. Found extensive mold in the kitchen. Something that a skilled home inspector should have picked up on given the stench. Please see picture. There were so many other things missed, however, the long and the short of this again is STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. To find all the undiscovered issued was horrible. Dealing with Mike Chevalier, the president, was much worse. First, called the company and told them the situation. Christina said, not to worry, they have a warranty company to provide financial assist for these situations. After two attempted via email to get the paperwork, I went looking for the office. Had difficulty because their name isn't even on the door. Christina came out from her desk is short, shorts and barefoot. Yeah they have a warranty company, pays out $2000 for the mold and $2000 for the structural damage. Christina and Paul said, Mike would fight to get me the money. To say I was upset, would be understatement. Mike called me and I told him I had nothing to say to him. Fast forward. I emailed Mike several times, telling him he caught me at a bad time when he called, no response. The warranty company denied both claims and I quote, Mike said, "I will not help you." Does anyone really want to hire a company that will not fight for their clients. Again, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I asked for my money back from Mike for the inspection, he said "No". So much for standing by your product. But, he does support his employees, too bad they are not worth the money I paid. read more

Chris has inspected two home for my father. He was on time, professional and courteous. He was quick to show us any issues that he saw that may be issues later on or that needed prompt attention. Dad dodged a bill bullet one. If I'm every in the market for a home myself on the East Coast of Florida I will use this comp again. On home #1 he did as thorough of an inspection as he could. That home was filled with moving boxes, which made inspection a little difficult. House #2 went much more smoothly and didn't take that long as he brought another guy with him to help with the inspection. Again Chris addressed the issues, showed us what he was finding. This is a top notch company who seem to really care about the consumer (a rarity these days) that wants home buyers to be well aware of what is or isn't going to be a problem with the home. Thanks again Chris and team! read more

Paul was right on time & very thorough. After the inspection he walked myself and the realtor through each room pointing out any issues and concerns. He was super friendly and even brought snacks !! Would definitely recommend him ! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Run from these guys. I purchased their top of the line inspection $600for a house purchase Their report was well written but 60 days later I'm putting in a new heat pump motor. The fan never turned off. How can they miss that $535. Pool salt cylinder defective $755. How did they miss this. And there is a myriad of other items that they missed. And their report said everything was in excellent condition. I would NOT recommend them. Run and get another company. read more

We are very disappointed. We have had very, very bad experiences with Paul and Home exam. We bought a home in January 2022 and Paul was our home inspector. He was very friendly back then and we liked him... He said the plumbing and water pressure is good, but that wasn't the truth. So we've already paid $465 for the damage Paul didn't see in the upstairs bathroom. The water connection below could not be fully repaired because the wall had to be opened for it. The entire pipe may even need to be replaced. Paul's insurance doesn't pay for the mistake (the damage Paul didn't see), even though Home Exam advertises it widely on the internet. Paul's insurance company says it will only pay out once the cause of the damage is identified... But that's not true, because the cause of the damage is identified in the upper bathroom and they still don't pay. Paul doesn't get in touch with us either. He doesn't answer emails or calls. Not even that of our broker. We absolutely do NOT recommend this company and Paul. Waste of your money... waste of your time. Save yourself the hassle and look for another competent company. P.S.: I completely forgot: the roof was also damaged, and rainwater ran right into the garage. At the time, Paul said it was old damage that had been repaired. That was not true and the roof had to be repaired as soon as possible. Fortunately, this damage was paid for and repaired by the HOA.

Rick did a great job examining the home I am buying. He was able to answer all the questions we had. Overall it was a great experience

Used them for home inspection before purchasing home. Relied on referral and good reviews. Have not closed yet so will have to wait and see what happens then nor have I applied for home insurance. Exam looked thorough and well written. Liked the fact they did more than just an inspection but also wind mitigation, recalls, etc. I believe that the price was fair considering the services they provided and the warranty they gave. read more

This company is horrible! Hired this company for a 4 point inspection, they are quick to come to the property so they can collect your payment but then leave you hanging a while to give a report. The timeframe to get a final not as promised by the company. Must have placed 5 calls trying to get a final report without an answer.....still trying. Would not recommend and would look elsewhere to get a home inspection. read more

i Used Home Exam for inspection prior to purchasing our home. We had excellent service! I just had a new roof put on and called them back to do wind mitigation and a four-point inspection for insurance purposes. I highly recommend them! Mike Chevalier was very thorough and knowledgable. We're moving to FL from NY and he even took the time to teach us about Florida construction, codes, and how to best maintain the home. The report was prompt and detailed. Would recommend The Home Exam to anyone. read more

Working with the staff of The Home Exam was a very pleasant experience. Paul(the inspector) was very thorough and inclusive. He arrived ahead of the scheduled appointment time. He was quick to respond to any of my concerns and provided detailed explanations. The staff was very sociable and polite in scheduling my appointment and when providing reminders of the scheduled date. By far the best service/inspection I have received in my house buying experience. Would definitely recommend company to anyone needing a home inspection. read more

The poor job done by this company cost me $750. They failed to identify a side door in the garage that was rotted because the previous owners had allowed standing water to pool at the base for what must have been months if not years. It was evident the wood frame had been repaired at least once before. The metal threshold plate was missing and the base was plainly rusted. read more

Inspected our house and found basically nothing wrong. After we moved in we kept discovering issues inside the house; faulty kitchen outlets and switches, ice maker on the refrigerator never has worked and leaks, ceiling lights in laundry area and living room work sporadically and the irrigation sprayers are broken outside the lanai. Quite obviously they did not perform a thorough inspection of this property. Their fees were a little higher but they were available to come out quickly and we were in a time crunch. Should have known better! Now I wonder what else they didn't take the time to inspect properly. read more

Paul and Mike did a great job on the home inspection. Very professional and courteous. Before, during, and after the inspection they were willing to answer any questions I had. Give these guys a call...oh and they also bring drinks and candy for you while they do there inspection. read more

If I could this company a negative number, I would. Their home inspector, Michael Chavelier, did not do a thorough inspection as promised and advertised. I closed on 1-31-2020 and moved in on February 1, 2020. I have experienced problems with the septic, plumbing, electrical, and foundation systems since the 1st. If I would have known all these problems, I would have never bought this home. Yesterday, my home flooded due to a broken pipe that was missed in the inspection. My new floors are ruined. Today, a foundation company found major issues with the foundation. The cost to fix all these problems is well over $80,000. Every licensed professional including plumbers, electricians, septic repair person, foundation repair company, ect have all stated this house should have never passed inspection or code. It is obvious this home inspector company is not looking out for the buyer who hires him. Buyer Beware read more

Mike conducted an inspection of an existing home (not new construction) that we are purchasing. Their fee was higher than another company I considered but, I was so impressed with the office manager, Christine's professionalism, friendliness, and patience with my many questions, I deemed them worth the extra money. Mike was equally professional and patient with my many questions. We spoke via video chat because I'm out of state. He couldn't have been any nicer!! And I couldn't be any more satisfied!! read more

At first, I was very satisfied with this company. We were purchasing a house and our realtor recommended them. They came and did their inspection and everything seemed fine. We later found out that there was an electrical issue that was overlooked. Not a big deal. What is a big deal is the ignored phone calls and emails that I made to this company multiple times. My realtor said she tried reaching out to Mike multiple times as well. Communication is everything. If they would have just responded to me and said anything, that would have been fine. Completely ignoring is unacceptable. read more

Excellent company. Speedy appointment and punctual. Had report in 24 hours. Thank you for your help

Professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Answered all questions. Highly recommend!

Excellent home inspection!! Very thorough and informative. Good communication with Mike and office. Thank you!

Very thorough inspection and well detailed and prompt written report. I would use them again.

The worst home inspector is Mike Chevalier of the Home exam. I hired him and paid $250 extra to inspect the pool. He said it was working. The day I moved in, it did not work. The pool company said that it had not been working for over 9 months!!! Cost me over $1000 to fix. I called, emailed Mike Chevalier to discuss and had the realtor do the same. He never returned my phone calls or the realtors. He is a fraud. read more
