Finallly the guys show up today, April 5, and these morons refuse to install it because standing there in their diapers, they complained about having to shave a 1/2" of a fomica wood countertop to fit the new cooktop. Cardinal Appliaces sent these babies. I asked them if they had reciprocating saw and their reply was said in unison like androids; "we are plumbers". So I asked them does that mean thet can't operate a saw? The replied, "We are plumbers". What do they do when they have to drill a hole through a floor joist to run a pipe? Call a carpenter? I have never met such iresponsible idiot contractors before in my life and I have acted as a General Contractor when I built my home. These guys were late for arrival, rude, condescending, ignorant and childish. Anyone who contracts an installation through Sears in Windham CO CT would be wise to inquire if the Cardinal Appliance Co will be doing the installation and ask for another installer. It is no wonder people hate unions because if these guys are any representation of their trade, they should be ashamed to call themselves men and go back and put their diapers on. When they are ready to work, someone please buy them some overalls and teach them what the word "work" means because as it stands now all, they know is how to wear diapers and tutus in order to dance around and find 10 ways how not to do something rather than 10 ways to do something..

I was looking for a Bosch 500, but they are in short supply, and no one has one including Smarter. Lead times were unacceptable given that the old dishwasher wash in rigor. The salesman suggested a KitchenAid, and knew exactly how much vertical clearance I needed without having to look it up. I asked when they could install it. There was a blizzard coming, so I had to wait until the storm passed, but they put me first on the schedule for that Monday. Not only was the salesman very helpful, but he extended me a price match to the big box stores price without my asking. The installer called 2 days before installation to confirm the installation, then called the day of delivery to confirm the install time. Installation was quick and professional, and although they didn't bring 6 pall bearers for the old dishwasher, they gave it a dignified exit and trip to the ever after. Why would you buy from a big box, when you can work with these guys for the same price? The new dishwasher works great!

Today we were told we needed a new electrical outlet to run the freezer and not use an extension cord. You would think this would be pointed out when they installed the freezer. Have been going to Schiller's for some years.   I have an old Italian Necchi and a newer, cheap HD…read moreSinger.   I use them for projects, sewing leather and other heavy materials, etc.   I'm no real sewer, so though I try to keep the Necchi oiled and the singer needles fresh, my machines suffer.   Well, I've turned over a new leaf and bought a vintage Viking 6460.   These sewing machines sold for over $1,000 back in 1977 when new--the equivalent today of over $4,400!   The machine I bought second-hand looks near perfect but was frozen up from the characteristic auto-oiling problem, I followed the careful on-line instructions and freed up and oiled the machine and replaced the cracked cam stack.  It ran and stitched perfectly after that but clacked; ahhh, a cracked take up slide.   I've looked at that mechanism and it scares me--all the timing things on the machine are around that; so, cheap as I am, I've decided to take it to Schiller's.   They have never let me down.   I do hope that they can repair it, as parts are a problem and there are few people left in the world who can actually work on these intricate, 43-year-old machines.  How much confidence do I have in Schiller's?   I'm writing this review after phoning them to ask if they'll take a look at the Viking.   If I'm wrong about them--doubtful--I'll come back and talk about it. Update: They did their best, but for once, couldn't quite get it running fully. I then decided to bite the bullet and shipped it to PA for a Viking expert to completely rebuild--knowing that the man will soon retire (last of his kind?) and I wouldn't ever get all the cams working and some tough timing issues completely solved. In truth, they say that only a Viking-trained service person can really fix one of these unusual, complex machines. Some of the more esoteric parts are now being reproduced by 3-D printers! Schiller's did get it running for the most part, but now it's like new. Five stars all around for everybody's work. Happy camper
