Its not their fault, as this burden falls on management/owner. I asked for a can of exterior white paint ~$60 later I was home opening the can to discover it was not paint, but some sort of clear varnish. When I returned to the store to exchange it for actual paint, they refused to exchange it. I then went to Home Depot and purchased the correct paint that I needed by a very helpful and knowledgeable staff, and at a much reduced price. For a local hardware store that obviously cannot compete with the prices of the large, "big box" stores, one would think that they would go to great lengths to at least excel in customer service and product knowledge. I dont beleive this store has figured that out. This store seems to be resting on the laurels of being "local", and thats about it.

This was the first year to take our new daughter in law and 10 month old grandson. Our 10 month old grandson had potties on himself and had soiled himself and his clothing. It was quite bad. My daughter in law and I found a lady that worked there and asked if they had somewhere we could get him cleaned up. She said no and we could just put him on the ground. The ground was cold & muddy! I told her no,we was not putting the baby on the ground. She said they had nowhere private ( she was walking out of a red brick building on the site)nor did they have a changing table. Mind you this is a pumpkin patch, Christmas tree farm with lots of children's activities. It is a totally child oriented business. My daughter in law posted on their page, kindly mind you, there response was, the awful lady you're referring to is the owner and sorry that our response offended you. I posted back that they are the ones to use the term awful lady, we did not use that or ANY nasty terms. I told them as a public facility they should provide a private changing area/changing table, especially a business that is focused on little ones. I also stated that her response to put the baby on the ground was unacceptable and asked if that's what they would do to their grandchild & I that had expected more compassion to our situation ( which was very visible to see the mess we had the clean)and most especially if she is the owner. I never received a response and this morning the message was erased from their page. I guess as long as they're making money they don't care about anything else and if you do make a comment that they don't like, they just erase it & go on about their money making. I will never support this business, ever again. There are other pumpkin patches and Christmas tree farms in our area.

The Dollar Tree is great. I've been able to build my book library back up, after losing so many in the flood, last year. The West Monroe's location has been very lacking in books, lately. I hope that doesn't mean that they're no longer going to stop stocking books. That's the main reason I go, other than toothpaste, aluminum foil, and assorted other things that would normally cost me at least twice as much anywhere else. Don't buy thumb tacks from them, though. For some reason, they snap in half if you hang anything from them. Maybe I just bought a bad package. But everything I hung from them, no matter how light, caused them to break within a week. Also, I bought some pillow cases from there once. They fell apart after one wash and the dye in the pillow cases leaked out into the washing machine, turning the clothes I was washing with them a nice red color. They could definitely use some more cashiers, and friendly ones, at that. Every time I go in, there's a line about nine people deep. The woman at the register always looks like she's ready to go postal. And when makes she makes an announcement that she needs another cashier to help check, the disdain in her voice could cut through a diamond. I guess it's a situation of "you get what you pay for". After all, everything IS $1.00 or less. Still, if they wouldn't wait until the line is unreasonably long to call another cashier up front to check, this would have been a five star review.

But since I do, I tried to go in to get one thing from the store 10 minutes before they closed. They had the door locked and the lady who was standing outside smoking was turning everyone away. There was one man begging to go in to get something, and she finally agreed to let him in, but was being rude to him about it. He ended up just leaving. Considering they still have 10 minutes before they closed, I thought her attitude was a little uncalled for.
