I enjoy visiting this store. I took delivery of a 1000 lb rated Milwaukee P-Handle hand truck with 15 in pneumatic tires which I purchased online. The store is large and well-organized They have great inventory for most of my DIYs read more

The Home Depot - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Middletown, Connecticut

Bought a 16 ft Werner aluminum ladder online and picked it up at Middletown CT store. Brought it home in our car and when we went to use it 3 days later we realized we were given a defective, bent and very dusty ladder. The bad part of the ladder was hidden quite well. Hard to believe that no one at Home Depot noticed the many defects in this ladder. Returned it to back to store for refund. Very frustrated with this experience. There is absolutely no way they should have given us a defective ladder! Grrrr! Several days later and still no ladder. We were offered a 24 ft ladder for the same cost but that is much too big for what we need and no way for us to get it home unless we rented a truck. We could have taken a road trip and possibly have gotten one at the Glastonbury store or Southington or Berlin BUT who would want to do that? We may just end up getting one at Lowe's in Cromwell at some point. Given the circumstances it would have been helpful on their part if they had offered to deliver a replacement ladder AND pick up the defective one. That was never an option, we were told we had to get the ladder back to the store ourselves. ***I am reposting this review because somehow the original review seemed to have disappeared?***4/23/2021 read more

Friendly and helpful staff at this location. I can always find what I'm looking for...if I can't, someone in an orange apron can. I prefer to shop independent stores, but in a pinch I'll run here. The garden center is great. Even though I pretty much have a brown thumb, I love to look and dream. This time of year is my favorite. This is when they start rolling out the BBQ's! We've got a decent grill, but I dream of one day owning one of those huge outdoor kitchens. Today, my son and I stopped in to grab a new faucet aerator. We used the self checkout, so we were in and out in five minutes. read more

Trying to be objective in this review. I'm a frequent customer who has always liked this store. I bought 2 refrigerators, a washer and dryer, and a lot of wood and construction supplies in renovating my home this summer. A good 50/50 mix of Home Depot and one of their competitors with the dishwasher, stove, microwave and a lot of the flooring and finishes coming from the other store. Sold my car a few months back so I had a bunch of cash on hand so figured paying with cash for things made sense to use it up instead of charging or going through the hassle of driving to the bank to deposit it. All worked well until I lost the receipt for a snow blower I bought 2 days ago. $1913 with tax and whatnot got the Ariens EFI 30" one. Was super excited to try it out if we get enough snow next week. However I got it home and realized the key wouldn't come out due to being rusted in, I wD40'd it and finally got it out. Then I started looking at the snow blower more in depth and realized much of the metal was rusted. I thought no big deal I'll load it in my truck and exchange it. Got back to Home Depot and a lady greeted me right away and got some guys to help me unload it and they even pushed it up to customer service for me. Then I talked with 2 young ladies who immediately said you can't return that without a receipt. I calmly explained to them the issues and they agreed since it was never run and all the plastic wrap and stickers were on it I could exchange it. I asked if they could deliver the exchange as I'd have issues getting it out of my truck by myself, it's almost 300 lbs. She called her department manager and that was a no because they had no way to do that in the system. I asked if I could talk to him and he came up. After talking it was still a no so I said fine. Then they went to get the other snow blower and it was a 28" one being sold for $600 less than the one I purchased. I informed him of the issue and he was nice enough about it. He then got the assistant store manager (Sal) who came up with (Alex) from lawn and garden. The lawn and garden employee who spoke condescendingly as did Sal about me "losing my receipt". I get being suspicious, but having an attitude with the customer isn't really professional in my opinion. Sal informed me my options were to leave with the rusty snowblower because how do I know it's defective. Buy a new one and he would waive the delivery fee on that one and my rusty one I guess. Or pay $85 to have my rusty one delivered as they had none they could exchange. At this point I raised my voice and quickly realized that's not how to win an argument and tried to tone myself back in. Sal also called in his loss prevention officer Chris at this point. Chris was a nice enough guy he got my an alcohol wipe and bandaid for my hand I cut unloading the snowblower with the guys. Sal then had me call a call center to explain the situation and they said I could exchange it for an identical item but when it came to light they had none she transferred me to her manager but then hung up after about 5 minutes of hold. At this point I was beaten down, I lost. I said to Sal she said I could return for an identical item. Is there any way I can do it for future stock or at another store. He said Berlin and Orange are the only stores that have any. Ok Sal can you please have some of your guys help me load it back into my truck. 2 hours and I was beaten down to the point where I will never pay cash for anything again. Or as Alex and Sal would say, just don't "loose" your receipt. My girlfriend doesn't think I can avoid HD for long but we will see. PS Berlin had none but the guy Hector was super nice and I was kind of expecting that outcome so I didn't even unload it and just put my tail between my legs and walked back out. I didn't try Orange as I'm happy with my rusty machine at this point. Ok I think if I use some rust remover I can pretty much say I have a new snowblower. Let's just hope it starts Monday Sorry for the book, just first time I've had such an experience with a hardware store (heaven). read more

I came in today (Tuesday) at about 9:30am. I was greeted the moment I entered the door by Ashley, she had a big inviting smile. The store was neat, well-stocked, and clean today. The woman working in the paint department was very nice. She chatted with me about our kids while my paint sample was mixing and she had it ready for me in no time at all. I also shopped in the lumber section and was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I found the wooden dowels I needed. My daughter and I also enjoyed a little browsing during our trip. While we were looking in the lamp/light fixture section an associate checked on us and assured us he'd be there if we needed anything. Today's visit was a no stress, positive experience. read more

What can I say about this big box store that hasn't been said already. Its not bad when you need something in a pinch like a particular tool, some screws/nails, paint or drywall but that is about it. Don't bother to ask most of the staff a question about a project in order to get the best supplies or some helpful tips; its clearly a hire any applicant type place so most of them will give you the deer in headlights look before just regurgitating the information from whatever MDS they reviewed that day. Simply put, many of the employees lack the expertise you would want from a serious building material place and can only point you to the area related to what you need to work on. They have everything you would expect in terms of lighting, appliances and bathroom fixtures but I find the quality of products at Lowes to be better (better yet, MIddletown Electric). Also, I find the prices to be high for the area and, unless you absolutly need an item that day, you are better off just ordering from one of the many online suppliers who may offer something unique at a comparable price. All-in-all its not the worst place to get home supplies but its certainly not the best. They do have a large selection of specialty tools (augers, cement mixers etc) that can be rented and are required for some serious DIY projects. But, again, don't bother to ask them anything indepth because they won't be able to help you. read more

Recently bought stackable washer/dryer, contractor installed and I guess pressed stacked strip which was not allowing me to open washer dispenser. After couple of visits and failed talks to associates, David Brand sales specialist helped to connect with right people. Today they fixed it. So thank you David for being so patient and prompt help. Good thing is he understood the issue and immediately took action appropriately. read more

I've always found this Home Depot to be clean, well stocked, and usually I'm easily able to find the item, or employees can help me. Easy to get project advice, and we've been going here for years. The bathroom is pretty much always clean (way better than most places) customer service has been quite easy. Not super happy about the returns without receipt policy, but I understand why, as so many people shoplift. Just remember to send receipt to email, or use card every time so returns can be found by card#. read more

Website promises online orders ready in two hours. Made my selections and paid for them online. Placed my order before the store was open. I went to pick the order at 5PM and not only wasn't the order ready, the customer service person said it wouldn't be ready for 2 days! I'm disabled. You would think someone would bestir themselves to get two items and bring them to the customer service desk. Yeah. Not shopping there again. read more

I'll stop in if I know what I need...but if you need assistance, you're probably not going to get it. Even when you can finally find an employee to ask for help, they stare at you like a deer in headlights when you ask a question. Some do seem to genuinely want to help, others, not so much. When I need assistance or to make a big purchase, I head to Lowe's. The only reason I go to Home Depot at all is that it is closer to home. read more

If your having Home Depot's contractor (Hales flooring) install your floor, be aware: The came to install LifeProof plank flooring at my house. They checked the level of my subfloor and said some self leveling product would need to be applied. Ok, I know the condition of the floor is critical for certain products. An hour later the installer tells me it will cost $3000 to level the floor! He said it would be a 3 hour job. Self leveling compound is not very expensive. $20 a 20lb bag and it goes a long way. So materials, $400 at most. This is pure extortion. If they are going to charge thousands more on the day of install, they should inspect beforehand and quote the job accurately. I complained to Home Depot but nothing will come of it. read more

Went to home depot about a week after my order was placed. Never received a message saying my order was ready but called ahead to confirm I could still pick it up. I was told that if I don't mind waiting that I could come pick up. So I did that, went to the store, called right before I arrived and they told me to call back even though I was 2 minutes away. Arrive at home depot, called in.. Took them about 5 minutes to answer the phone, then when the call was picked up. I was greeted by a snarky woman named Molly with a HUGE attitude. She was instantly rude and told me I had to wait for my order to be picked. So I waited, for about an hour in the parking lot and watched SEVERAL customers showing up for their pickup orders and leaving. I ask one of the gentlemen bringing out pickup orders what was going on with my order and I had been waiting for an hour. He went inside and came back out saying I had to come back tomorrow. AFTER WAITING FOR MY ORDER TO BE PULLED FOR AN HOUR, THEY ONLY HAD 4 DOORS TO GRAB. I go home and call the next day, low and behold. Customer service said they had to cancel my order after me waiting a week for my order to be filled, then waiting outside for AN HOUR for pickup as they claimed they were picking it. (MIND YOU EVERYTHING CLAIMED TO BE IN STOCK WHEN ORDERED AND I CONFIRMED EVERYTHING WAS AT THE MIDDLETOWN STORE). I also confirmed with online AND with another phone call to the store to see if they could make sure the doors were in stock and they were! UNEXCEPTABLE HOME DEPOT, THIS ORDER WAS OVER $1000 AND WAS JUST THE START OF WHAT I NEED FOR MY HOME. After this experience I will no longer be using Home Depot as they do not appreciate or take care of their customers. I will be doing all of my home improvement business through Lowes going forward. read more

My friend and I visited this home depot to purchase lights and a step ladder for a sculpture project she was doing. She needed to exchange previously purchased bulbs for ones that would cast the best shadow through venetian blinds, in the style of film noir. One of the employees, who had conveniently studied film at U Mass, was able to give her great advice about which bulbs to choose, and was so happy to help and even discuss his favorite film noir films. Overall, all the employees were very attentive, helpful, and nice. The day we visited they were having a promotion in the gardening department that included snacks, free pots and seeds, and information about herb gardening. Another employee informed us of their monthly days for children on the first Saturday of every month. We love it here! read more

How the heck is it that most times that I go into this location it is difficult to find assistance....specifically customer service. On a holiday weekend you have one person trying to do everything. Who has time for all this bull&sh/5. With so many people who still need employment what the hell. This is why I go to mom &pop hardware store when I can. read more

This is the worst store I have ever shopped in. I have been waiting on a particular item for over 2 weeks. I was emailed that the item was in stock to come pick it up. I have been into the store the last 3 days and guess what item is still OUT OF STOCK. then why send email saying it is there. Then I am told it is due on the shelves today, the truck has 3 that arrived in yesterday! I am on hold for them to physically check and came back again to tell me still only the display is showing in stock. This is unacceptable and this is why when you got to Middletown, CT. store the parking lot is always empty. Lowes you still have my vote as # 1 store for needed supplies! read more

I recently had to rent a wood chipper and this was the nearest location that offered the opportunity. Earlier in the week I called and had some questions about renting tools and the home depot staff person was very helpful and answered all of my questions with ease. I was able to arrive early to rent the equipment. When I arrived, i could clearly see the tool rental area from the main entrance across from the opposite side of the building. Upon entering the tool rental area, I was promptly greeted by two gentleman, who showed professionalism and were easily able to assist me. The entire transaction was quick and they assisted me with loading the equipment into my truck and were very helpful in a brief demonstration of how to use the equipment. While my overall experience with this home depot location was excellent, the equipment itself provided me with a little difficulty due to its age and previous care. I was able to successfully use the wood chipper throughout the day however, I did experience constant issues with the safety mechanisms, the blades were dull resulting in branches going straight thru without being chopped and the wood leaving the wood chipper was shredded and not chipped. I believe this is do to the blades being dull and not properly aligned. In the end I had to run all of the material through the machine twice in order to have the wood reduced to what I expected it to be. My suggestion when renting tools is to make sure they are in the condition that you expect them to work and make sure you are happy with its abilities. When I returned the wood chipper at the end of the day; the home depot staff did help me unload the wood chipper and quickly assisted me with closing my transaction. I also learned that they were expecting a new wood chipper soon as the one I rented was being retired and I agreed with the staff that it was time to retire this wood chipper. read more

Giving them a one star because I won't be able to write this review without putting something. If it were up to me I wouldn't give them any stars or any of you money. We spent $1,500 on fencing (panels, concrete, posts and so on) back on May 2nd. Our order had to be a special order because the fencing we needed wasn't available in the store as well as my husband is in the military and wanted to use his discount. Sal (the manager) was helpful at first to create this order for us. He let us know that the order would be delivered on May 16th but he mentioned it would most likely arrive before that. Once it arrives at the store they would contact us so we can set up an at home delivery. Given COVID going on we gave a grace period to May 26th. After receiving no updates from Home Depot or Sal about our order as well as checking the order number on the website and the status not being update we decided to reach out. My husband called Sal and Sal said he would check in. Sal called back and said the manufacturer just shipped and it should be at there that Friday or Saturday and he would call us then. Friday and Saturday pass with no phone calls. We called the following Tuesday. (Notice we gave them our money and yet we have to be the ones to continuously follow up with what the hell is going on). Each time we talked to a different manager after this. We have had to repeat our story many times to each one even though Home Depot has the capability of putting in there system prior communication notes to help managers follow up with what's going on. This manager said they would call us back on their next shift. They didn't. Then we called spoke to Breanna who said it was in Bloomfield and would find out what was going on and call us. She didn't. We decided to stop in the store to talk face to face with a manager to quit all this run around. It wasn't an inconvenience to us because we live in Middletown and we frequent this location. Manager on duty was Breanna who knew our story. We asked the associate if we could speak with Breanna, when Remi called (poor Remi being stuck in the middle of this) Breanna said she was on the phone with the HR office dealing with getting an employee paid and couldn't come out but to tell us that the fence panels are at the Southington location and the manager there is putting them outside for our contractor to pick up. First off....we don't have a contractor. Secondly, we just paid $1,500 for fencing that includes way more then panels...how is it okay for them to just stick the panels out back at a location that is no where near us of where the original delivery was supposed to take place, third I would think that if a customer spent that kind of money and they want to talk to a manager I would get my ass out of my office deal with HR later and help this customer. We kindly asked Remi to cancel our order so we could go to Lowes and order fencing with them since no one clearly cares about our problem. Oh I haven't updated you all on the date....this is on June 2nd. Remi said she will put in the notes that we want to cancel but she needs the manager to do so. We trust this. That weekend we call corporate because we still advent heard back from any manager confirming our cancelation or any apology and to prevent us from going to Lowes and no longer being a loyal Home Depot customer. Corporate doesn't see any notes in our file of cancellation or the entire story. Corporate then calls the Home Depot location talks to Breanna. They tell us that Breanna said she would call the manufacturer/vendor on Monday June 8th (today) and she will call us. We call today at 7:30pm to talk to Breanna who is there since we haven't received a call yet. We get put on hold and then get sent a voicemail for a man named Scott??? Who is Scott no idea. Not for nothing but even if you don't have an update to give a customer if you say you're going to call and you have their money still you call. This has been the absolute worse experience in customer service we have ever received. We are done with this location. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! Spend your money where the company actually cares about the customer. read more
