Food was great and the host was very nice. There is a decent amount of variety between the dishes so I'd recommend ordering family style!

So a friend and I tried to go one evening and we were outside the front door and it appeared as though no one was inside. Called multiples times to a full mailbox and then sent an Instagram message but no one answered so we left. This was on a weekday after 5pm when they said they were open. Next time, I met a friend there. I tried to go in from the front and the door was locked. The guy inside made me go all the way around to the back (there's no sign, just a random door to a store that you go through to get there - so not obvious). Later on, they unlock the door for other guests!! So we ordered chicken 65 and samosas to start. The chicken 65 was amazing!! Not spicy but very flavorful. Then we ordered lamb curry and chicken tikka masala and a side of garlic naan. We were disappointed that there was no biryani on the menu but, after we had ordered, we were told there's a special rice menu. Go figure. Portions were small and the food was not super flavorful. Mango Lassi tasted like I was just drinking yogurt but they offered to make it again, which was nice. Compared to other places, it was decent. But the inside is very clean and nice and the servers were friendly. Would go again to try other things. I would give it 3.5 stars. read more

Wow. This is what I've been searching for in the mitten! I've traveled extensively and tried Indian food along the way and this place ranks right up there with some of the best. I enjoyed an appetizer of an incredibly flavorful samosa, an entree of tender and tasty butter chicken, and a plentiful side of garlic naan. While the price was on the high side, I'm not going to deduct anything for that because there is simply no other Indian restaurant who can compete. The best way to describe this place is " an INDIAN restaurant not for the INDIAN palate " . Overhyped , over priced and under flavored . The initial impression was good with the quadruple tandoori platter . But the entrees were disappointing . And what kind of Indian place has no spoons for table cutlery ? The cucumber raita was pathetic and can only be described as buttermilk with shredded carrots . When I asked for plain yogurt , they didn't have any . The portions were small: 2 pieces in a full dish of Malai Kofta . My Lacchha parantha took forever and my food was cold by the time it came ( fyi it was like 60 degrees inside ) . And mind you this is NOT a Nepalese restaurant by any stretch of your imagination . The name is misleading . Positives : the parantha , mango lassi and malai kofta were good .i am hoping this was a one off since we went on a Tuesday at 6 pm. Either way , will not be returning . read more

I just had the best Indian food ever from this place. I've been here 3 times. Once for dine in and twice for carry out. The customer service is always pleasant. The place is clean. Twice the food was pretty good and this last time it was exceptional. Butter chicken, garlic naan and samosas. My only complaint is that a few times I attempted to frequent the restaurant but could not because it was closed in the middle of the afternoon...4:00 pm'ish. I have visited INDIA 28 times in my career and am a bit picky about INDIAN food. Although Himalayan is not exactly the same as South Indian, it is close. I travel weekly to Dearborn for work and am always on the look out for good places to eat. I visited last night and was impressed with the decor and cleanliness. Even more important was the food. Went there on a Friday evening with my adult son, husband, and mom. We tried the Avocado appetizer , the cauliflower appetizer, salmon tikka, butter chicken, lamp chops, and an eggplant dish (don't have the menu in front of me with the names). Plus 4 Mango Lassi, samosa, and naan. Everything was delicious, although I probably wouldn't get the pesto naan again. Service was friendly, although our dishes were brought out two at a time, with about a 5 minute wait before the other two entrees came out. Will definitely go back again!! read more

I love this place! As a vegan it's super easy to eat a lot here. Some of my favorite dishes: Avocado Jhalmuri (favorite), Nepali Veg Chow Mein, Gobi Manchurian, Aloo Gobi. The people are kind, food is wonderful and I've also had good experiences dining in. I think they're fairly priced for their portions. One thing is I wish you could adjust the heat/spiciness in the dishes because some of them are just way too spicy for my taste, but if you can handle heat you wont mind. read more

I have never had any Indian food in the area that compares to NYC, until now. We came to this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was the perfect decision we ever made. After a long stroll in the area, we were starving and were surprised by how quick the service was, even when the restaurant was pretty full. The ambience was nice and peaceful- very Himalayan vibe as the eatery's name suggests. The staff were also very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. I was happy to see so many vegetarian options. My personal favorites were Dahi puri and Kathmandu Chilli Cottage Cheese for starers, Special paneer biryani with cucumber raita for the main dish, and Kheer for dessert (which was exactly like the sweet delight that my mom makes back home). This place nailed it! The butter chicken is phenomenal. Also tried the samosas and another appetizer that was like an inside out Samosa. Every thing was so good! The tandoori chicken was amazing. I can go on and on about their menu items. Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed! The only trouble you'll have is finding the place. There is no entrance from the front. You have to go from the back and enter through the doors that say 222 then you'll find multiple stores inside, just keep walking to the end. read more

This place has always had great food. It is now open for dine in but during Covid shut down, it followed rules, staff kept a distance when handing over your pickup order. They always took your secret and theirs seriously. Makes me love this place even more. read more

Wow! Delicious! 5 stars for the quality of the food. During the pandemic my husband and I ordered from here and picked up the food by the entrance. The staff is very polite. This will now be our go to Indian restaurant. We had the samosa (2 pieces), tandoori chicken (8 piece), 1 chicken curry, 1 lamb korma and 2 garlic naan (both entrees came with rice) and everything was excellent. I will say though that it was very pricey. The total cost was ~$65. That didn't include delivery (we picked it up). I think if the cost was a little better they may get more business. However we understand during this time they need our help. Since we haven't been spending money on other things/shopping we didn't mind especially if it meant supporting local restaurants. This was great! Order was spot on, service was solid (can't gauge much because it was takeout), and food was all very tasty! Chicken 65, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and an order of gulab jamun split among 3 (nice little dessert for the palate, as there are only 3 of the little dough balls in the order) were all delicious and reasonably portioned. Was disappointed that the restaurant closed an hour early. By the time I arrived their doors were locked.

So I tried Himalayan Flames for the 1st time today. We came during lunch. I will start with the negative: The service is severely slow. Came in around 11:20am, left at 12:45pm. It took about 20 mins for anyone to come to our table after being seated. The drinks came out quickly. My daughter and I ordered samosas and mango chutney as appetizers, and for our entrees the butter chicken and Andorra chicken. We got the butter chicken with a small bowl of rice 1st after about 20 minutes. No appetizer or the other entree. We ate the butter chicken, and after about another 15 mins, the samosas came out, the last entree came out after another 20/25 mins. Never got a refill, had to bother a different waiter to get us boxes and the bill. Brought the bill, no pen to sign the receipt. Having said all this, I'd still come back and hope this was an off day. It was packed. The food? The best Indian food I've ever had. We both walked out and said it was worth the wait. It's a new restaurant so I feel if they can tighten up the service, they will be very successful! I'm thinking about that butter chicken 5 hours later! So good! read more

I just tried this for the first time and have mixed emotions regarding my experience. While the flavor was excellent and clearly prepared fresh, the quantities were EXTREMELY small and disproportionate to the price. The decor and cleanliness of the restaurant itself was on point but servers (while nice and helpful) seemed inexperienced...nothing that can't be improved. I ordered the Palak Chaat, which was excellent and the malai shrimp curry. The curry had around 4-5 small shrimps but cost $14! I will probably try this place again, but need to be more selective in my choices so that I don't leave hungry like I did this time (filled up on water). Lastly, We had a group of 6 and asked to split the bill...the waiter didn't know how to enter it into the system (or was probably too lazy) so he told us that the system didn't accept that type of payment. One of the members of our party had to run everything in the system for him...these guys had better work to get their service and protein quantities up to the same level of the flavor of their food. read more
