So first time at "The Hideaway" in collins, ga. Amazing place. Definitely a must do campground. Entire grounds were immaculate. FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST IVE EXPERIENCED AT A CAMPGROUNDS. The staff are super friendly and go way out of their way to welcome you and make you feel accepted and catered to (even giving new people rides around the campgrounds in their golf cart to show you where everything is located. They escort you to your cabin when you check in so your not searching for your spot all day. Residents were super friendly and the club/bar run by resident volunteers was amazing. Every time I come back, I forget how much I like it here. The thing that stands out the most is how friendly everyone is here. The staff, the owners, the residents. It's like you have known them forever. Once I mentioned I hadn't ate yet, and a resident came over with a tray of enchiladas. Someone gave me a handmade Hideaway figurine. My own family isn't this nice to me! You come here not knowing anyone, next thing you know, you're on the back of a golf cart in an RV crawl. Just wonderful guys- all of them. The friendliness is everywhere. I have not met one pretentious person in all the times I've gone. Everybody interacts with everybody. Not only that but the drive there is gorgeous. I particularly recommend RT 121. Green fields, pine trees, hardly any other cars. Just keep your eye on your speed ; ) There's something in every budget for accommodations. Access is tightly controlled so recommend having everything you need on coming in. It's to keep the riff-raff out, (but yet here I am?). You can still come in and out, but most people stay on property. I've left my stuff out many times and never give it a thought. Nobody is here that shouldn't be (they keep letting me come back?). It's easier getting everything settled online before arrival, including signing the online waiver, and booking your cabin, or camping space. There is a nominal $15/yr fee as well. The cabin's have a one time cleaning fee per stay. Even with the fees and the paperwork, the price is still reasonable. Knowing this up front made more sense. They do a lot of pot-lucks- bring something nice, they love that stuff. A lot of these guys can cook. ("Who made this and is he single?") They also have a take-out cafe by the pool. They usually have specials and everything I have ordered has been top notch. Keep an eye on the cafe hours, the cook wears a lot of hats on the grounds, so plan accordingly. They open and close a few times a day. They do not sell alcohol. It's BYOB, everyone often just contributes to someone's cooler. It's the perfect mix of quiet and serene and get out on the dancefloor when the sun goes down. As a staple of the larger campgrounds, I found that the Hideaway more than makes up for being toned down by the attributes I've mentioned. It doesn't hit you immediately your first time; just about the time you start thinking that it's scaled down, you realize that's the point, and that its just as much of a blast as the loud crazy campgrounds, if not better. It's not the size of the crowd or the volume of the music that makes a great weekend, it's who is invited to the party. And in all the times I have been here, even when the weather didn't want to cooperate, The Hideaway hits the mark every single time. An absolutely wonderful bunch of people. I recently spent a weekend here. The staff is great, the facilities are nice and clean, the food was good. Permanent residents are helpful and very friendly to the campers. I'd definitely go back here for a weekend. The only con that and making a recommendation is that the "birdhouse" cabin needs to be temperature controlled better. You can't stay in there longer than 30 minutes, and you are totally wet from sweating. Maybe put another one or two air conditioners in so the visitors can enjoy the space. This was my first visit and I was very pleased with my stay. I stayed in the stables and I'm not usually the camping type. I was worried there would be tons of bugs lol. Well considering you're out in the middle of no where I only saw one bug in there and it was in the hallways so they must have a good extermination program in place. I often so them working and keeping up the grounds which is nice. The permanent residents here are so friendly. The fries and burger are the market are delicious. We couldn't have had a better experience during our time at The Hideaway. From the moment we arrived, we could feel the warm and love radiating from the grounds. The property is vast and provides the perfect escape from the outside world. It is evident that the team works tirelessly to create a welcoming environment to all who stay here. The campground is immaculate and it is noticeable that they care deeply about the health and well-being of the LGBTQ community. The team goes above and beyond to clean, disinfect and sanitize all areas of the campground constantly. Their diligence in doing their part to stop the spread of COVID is commendable. The amenities at The Hideaway are the icing on the cake. Our favorites included the walking trails that meander around the 30+ acres and 6 fresh water ponds dotting the campground, the heated/chilled pool, sun tanning lounge, hot tub and of course the family of goats that welcome you into the campground. In addition, Eduardo's Cafe is always cooking up some amazing food that will definitely not disappoint. Make sure to try their breakfast and for sure their constantly changing Taco Sunday's menu! The residents here a special group of guys, they all go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. A great way to meet others would be to attend one of the residents hosted social events. They are always a great time and an easy way meet and share with everyone at the campground. The Corral hosts their evening dance parties and special events and is equipped with laser lights, fog and foam machines, giant disco ball and a nightclub level sound system that can't help but get your body moving. If you are in looking to escape the real world for a brief moment or have a long weekend of dancing and sharing you will find it here. This was our first trip and we weren't really sure what to expect. From the moment we arrived the staff made sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. They staff and residents go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and having a good time. Every time you see one of them they wave or say hello. The pool area is clean and well maintained. The music being played was a mix of anything you might want to hear. The bar was clean, and the staff friendly. The camp ground itself is peaceful and secluded. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway and to make some new friends. We will definitely be back! read more

Horrible experience at this place. The location is poorly marked, sand roads, less than desirable accommodations. After a five hour drive, I arrived and then left after four hours on the property. I understand this is camping but most of us do have standards in regard to cleanliness. The people and guest are nice so I give them credit for that. I would go to other campgrounds that are much nicer. Use the $699.56 that I essentially gave you to improve rooms. read more

He is a disgruntled maintenance employee who misrepresented his experience and ability as a maintenance person. He moved here from Palm Springs and after being fired from the Hideaway after 60 days, moved to St. Petersburg. Nothing that he posted is true. Roy's is the nicest gay campground in the southeast -- we know, we've been to them all. It is clean, professional, very well maintained, beautiful grounds, and friendly people. We went for Memorial Day weekend and had a GREAT time. Weekend was packed with cool events including a drag show, stripper contest, camper crawl (which was really fun), and a great dance club (it snows in the dance club). The crowd is a perfect mix of ages, body types, and looks: wolves, twinks, bears, and generally nice people. read more

What an amazing visit. We were at a different campground and it was awful. We came here by accident, but we will be back. Roy is incredibly warm and welcoming as are the rest of the guys there. We felt instantly welcomed and part of the group. The facilities are beautiful. Roy has put a ton of time and effort and thought into making this a wonderful destination. We brought our RV and had easy in and out and the hookups were easy. The site was level (a pet peeve of mine) and had great views. Loved the trails and the thoughtful touches everywhere. We didn't get to try the outdoor rain shower but it looked amazing. Something to look forward to on the next vist... and there will be a next visit! read more

A beautiful place and a nice surprise. We booked in for 2 days and stayed for 5. Roy & Eduardo make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The staff and seasonal campers also go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The grounds are amazing, full of lakes and beautiful scenery. The salt water pool area and spa is so welcoming and clean. There's lot to do in the area as well. We visited a cute local winery just 30 minutes down the road and Savannah is just a quick hour away.
