Although Dr. Halpern is my 10 year old's main doctor and Dr. Bookner is my 7 year old's, but they see Dr. Lee and Dr. Menco as well whenever we need to make a same day (emergency) appointment and the other two doctors are not in that day. We used quite a few on call service when kids were little - we were inexperienced parents at the time. And we can't always find and trust the info we search online. There's always a doctor is on call during off hours there. Last December when we took kids to visit their Grandpa, my 10 year old had an asthma attack and I didn't pack his inhaler. I called the service agent and asked to have the doctor to contact my husband directly while he was on his way to a local pharmacy with our son. Dr. Halpern happened to be the one on call that day. After she spoke with the pharmacist over the phone, my husband was able to get the prescribed inhaler and a spacer. We're so thankful! After all these years, we know the office is closed from 1 to 2 pm for an hour lunch break. Luckily, we haven't had any emergency situation that my kids need to see a doctor happened to be that lunch break. I think if it does happen, I would just take my kids to the ER at White Plains Hospital. Hey, doctors need a break, too! It's 9 o'clock, gotta go schedule an annual checkup...

I called Riverside Pediatrics and they were able to get us an appointment that afternoon. The staff was efficient and courteous. The office utilizes easy to use online tools for scheduling and paperwork. And, they accepted our insurance, which was a big relief because we only started it a few days earlier. Once in the office I hardly had time to sit down before the doctor was attending to us. (Amazing!) As for treatment: Dr. Bansilal's bedside manner was absolutely superb! She was gentle, firm, and professional. In less than a minute my 2-year-old daughter, who has appropriate stranger danger, was totally comfortable with her and was following her instructions. Dr. Bansilal listened attentively and asked lots of questions before forming a diagnosis. She clearly explained to me what she thought was wrong, how she arrived at that conclusion, what we were going to do about it, what to expect, and what to be vigilant against. The nurses and administrative staff are fabulous and keep that small office/individual personal attention feel for the patients. The care used when selecting medical and administrative staff is superb. I was a patient in the practice Dr. Juan joined when he came to Greenwich. When he opened Valley Pediatrics of Greenwich, we followed him for my son, now 15yo. As a healthcare provider myself, so long as the child is conscious, breathing and not bleeding, I can handle pretty much anything. My husband, not so much, yet we are both ALWAYS at ease and feel confident that our child is getting the best care possible. We have had a few scares, most recently a serious snowboarding accident which rattled even me when my son, on the drive home, started making comments without a lick of sense and exhibiting possible trauma to his brain. With a rapid return call from Dr. Rasheed, a rough assessment of the situation and discussion of options for care; we set a plan in motion. A year later we have happy and almost completely recovered 15yo. Despite the cognitive effects and noise concerns affiliated with a severe concussion, he not only joined the HS Marching Band but changed instruments with little difficulty and traveled with the band to perform in the Citrus and Disney New Years Parade. All of this would not have been possible without the care, guidance and support of the entire team at Valley Pediatrics.

He's hands on and always says to call if there's a problem no matter what time it is-- he will be there. They were caring and considerate when my children were ill, and they kindly posted security at the door when my ex boyfriend was drunk and being verbally abusive when my children were ill. They were great with my kids. When it is somebody other than me who is sick I enjoy eating in the cafeteria and going to the gift shop, and the piano makes everything feel elegant as I bring my gifts to the people I am visiting. I cannot express enough my gratitude with how great they were with my children on several occasions. However- I can't shake this memory from my teenage years of having extreme food poisoning and laying on the floor amid a packed waiting room vomiting in front of everybody and I was totally ignored. Then they referred me to a doctors office next to the hospital and when I got there they said they weren't accepting new patients, then my throat closed up and I collapsed in the driveway of this medical center. The guy who took me to the hospital was a guy I had just been dating at the time - but had recently broken up with. He banged on my chest and had a very hot coffee and he held my face over it until the steam got through to me. I was ignored by the medical people and my estranged boyfriend MacGyvered my breathing passages open as I lay in a driveway. Then he carried me into the ER and basically blocked a doctor trying to walk by until he helped me. I can't help but wonder how that story might have ended had the guy I'd just broken up with been less caring.. Also the doctor did pause what he was doing long enough to get me a bed & a nurse to start trearment My ex boyfriend could have dumped me off in the waiting room and driven off. But he stayed and insisted someone fix me. I have to this day never been so sick in all my life. I remember the panic of not being able to breathe. Eventually they gave me an IV and pumped me full of anti nausea medicine. But I was young then, and did not have medical insurance. Subsequent visits fully insured I was entirely satisfied with my care. But that food poisoning incident was such a horrible experience I opted to drive 45 min in the snow to deliver at Bridgeport hospital when I had my baby. I had wonderful care, but so did some friends of mine who had their baby at Greenwich hospital, and they give you a special meal after you have a baby. Bridgeport Hospital delivered my baby with complications and everything , but left me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on Graham crackers. But at least my baby came out ok! I have also had then take great care of family members in the ICU who were so ill but made full recoveries. Its amazing how much collapsing in a driveway unable to breathe after being sent away one time can color your perception even after so many other great experiences.
