I purchased a Living Social deal for a 60 minute massage & facial at The Healing Rose after reading all of her positive Yelp reviews. I had my appointment yesterday afternoon and really enjoyed my service! I asked Rose if it was possible to get a longer massage instead of the massage/facial combo (I have a regular skin esthetician that I see for facials) and she had no problem accomodating my request. She ended up giving me a wonderful 85 minute massage! She really concentrated on the area that needed it most, my upper back & shoulders, and I felt very relaxed and more supple afterwards. I also slept much better last night than I have the past few nights. Her studio is small and is located in an office complex. It's not a posh, elegant spa, but rather a more quaint, comfortable studio. I didn't mind that at all, but it's good to know in case you have other expectations. Her prices are very fair, especially when you purchase her deals through Living Social! I would definitely recommend Rose for massage and will look forward to seeing her again. read more

I woke up this morning with an urge to have a "treat yo self" day after work. I originally heard about this place from a coworker, and The Healing Rose just happened to have a deal on Groupon! Rose was able to schedule me a same-day appointment for later on in the afternoon. If you are looking for a massage place with a bougie, super luxurious atmosphere, this is not it. The Healing Rose has a quaint yet no-frills feel to it. With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and facial. With the Groupon, I paid $74.50 for a 55 minute aromatherapy message PLUS a facial. For the massage, she has a selection of different aromas to choose from. I chose the lavender. I also chose to add hot stones ($10). I HIGHLY recommend adding the hot stones. So soothing and I feel that the stones helped my muscles relax and loosen up even more. The facial and massage were so relaxing, I fell asleep right there on the table, lol. Overall I had a good experience and would return to try some of her other services. Ps don't forget to tip! Groupon deals do not include tip, and good service surely deserves it. read more

My guess is that massage and facial are not her forte; her other services that I didn't try, may be better. I felt the massage barely did anything to loosen my muscles though I did ask her to go deeper and she did. The facial does not include extractions-just a scrub and massage type ritual. The aroma therapy was from a lotion with a choice of mild scents. The head massage didn't use pressure points. It was a general rub. The office is quaint and sweet. Ample parking. read more

I came to see Rose for a 55 minute massage and a facial. Although she is generally busy when I call, she's very responsive and always gives me a call back. Parking is very available. She's in building A, behind building C, so you would need to drive through the side alley for closer parking. Rose was very nice throughout the treatment. She had me fill out some new patient forms. I love how her bed is heated, and the area to poke your face through is also very comfortable. She has a variety of scents to choose from for an aromatherapy massage. I chose eucalyptus to open up my nasal passages, and lavender for relaxation. The massage was relaxing, and the facial made a noticeable difference to my skin. I would recommend keeping eyes closed since the services are provided in a pretty well-lit room (especially on a sunny day). I'm not sure if it's more a part of the facial or massage, but she gives a nice lengthy scalp massage compared to other places. I didn't see anything on her site, but she does advertise specials on her voicemail. She also has a quaint collection of products that she sells in her studio - ranging from mini lavender bags to different types of tea, as well as other goodies. read more

I bought a Groupon last week for this place, I needed a last minute massage. Before I came here I was never 100% with my massage anywhere I went. I went in not expecting much again but I was pleasantly surprised. Rose was very sweet and helpful. I used my Groupon for the massage and I also got a facial for myself. It was such a pleasant and relaxing experience. She really knows what she's doing and I was very happy with the service. My job causes me to have a lot of tension stored in my back from sitting all the time and she really helped me get rid of all that tension. I went home feeling like a million bucks! I purchased a Groupon for a massage and facial to try out the Healing Rose. I don't feel she treated me any differently being there on a discount. The office is in the bigger one-story building right at the corner, she's about halfway down on your right if you're coming from the parking lot. It's dated but quaint enough. Think English Garden with rose designs, mauve linen and ceramic tea cups, not sleek and modern by any means. I didn't speak up but eventually the room became too warm for me and I got a bit sweaty. You'll be the only person in the office with Rose. Rose was very professional and nice. I got the hot stone massage and facial. I expected the stones to be hotter and directly applied on my skin to help release muscles. I couldn't quite see but I imagine there was some kind of napkin or cloth placed in between. The pressure of my massage varied. I felt she could go deeper on my legs, barely massaged my feet and neck area, and went HARD on my shoulder blades. I asked for "medium" and I guess she was in the general vicinity sometimes? You lay on your back for the facial and instead of a soft pillow, she gives you a heated rice pillow for just your neck. It was ok enough for the first 10 minutes but eventually became very uncomfortable. I should have thought twice about getting the facial because I'm particular about exfoliators (I prefer chemical over physical) and whatever she used had a similar consistency to St Ives Apricot Scrub. Facials don't include extractions. The "scalp" massage left a lot to be desired. I was imagining it'd be something like getting your hair shampoo'd minus the shampoo - a deeper, pressure point kind of experience. My hair ended up being a big rat's nest because it felt she was just moving her fingers about my head. Between the warmer temperature, awkward rice neck pillow, hair-tangling scalp massage and the slightly coconut-smell of the lotions, my lower back hurt and I was over it. I'm not writing off the entire establishment as I am curious about her other services. We'll see. read more

I hadn't had a massage in a long time and a facial (no idea) which means time to take care of myself for a change (plus I had a bunch of Spafinder gift cards!). So I went as I saw all the wonderful Yelp reviews (thank you Yelpers!). And Rose was fabulous! I did the Swedish massage which was magical. It was relaxing as well as therapy for the soul. I was sore after but in the good way as a realized how I was not taking care of myself and need to remember that. As for the facial it was a treat but when I got home I saw the difference. Whatever Rose did, my face just glowed with radiance so it was such a treat. It felt so good to look at myself and feel great! Rose creates a very comfortable and peaceful space for you. She checks in with you appropriately timed and asks what kind of pressure you would like. She's very professional with you. Rose was good, although I think she should spruce up her place a little bit. It's very "quaint" and simple. I think she should invest in some nicer table linens and interior decoration. The waiting room was a little awkward when someone else was waiting for their appointment. The massage itself was good, although she didn't ask me if I had any areas that were bothering me. Rose has been great helping me deal with a knee injury since May of this year. An untreated torn meniscus for a year left me barely able to walk. As a result of my weekly massage with Rose, I was able to deal with the constant pain and lack of full motion of my leg prior to surgery. Finally in July my orthopedic doctors decided to go in and see if they could make any repairs on my knee. The MRI did not show the torn meniscus. Three weeks after surgery I returned to having weekly massage with Rose. I believe the combination of surgery, following my doctor's orders, physical therapy and my weekly massages with Rose have all worked together to bring my knee and leg closer to normal than it's been since May of 2011. read more

I called The Healing Rose to get more information and make an appointment but didn't leave a message when no one answered. Rose called me back! I made a next-day appointment for an 85 minute massage and added additional services when I got there: hot stones, aromatherapy and a chakra reading. It was a cold, rainy day when I went, so it was a good thing I added hot stones! Rose also made the room more comfortable by turning on the heat (and the heated blanket helped too!). It's always a little uncomfortable initially with the cold hands and cold lotions but overall I had a good experience. Rose worked out the kinks in my neck and shoulders, and I personally love the scalp massage. She also worked through my tendinitis which felt wonderful. Her location is very comfy and cozy. So today I tried the reiki session for an hour and all I can say is wow. My back was feeling tight so I was originally going to get a massage but I thought I'd try something different. The session was real simple and I went with the hour long. It felt different and I do start to doze off and at one point my neck started moving on it's own which kinda scared me but also good to know it's working. I left feeling no stress and no pain I really feel like she unblocked my energy. I have to say I am so so impressed with Rose , she took her time and it didn't feel rushed , she made sure she paid extra attention to my neck because I told her I was having neck pain , and you could tell she cares because she would check in with me if "everything was ok so far. " I told her this was probably the best decision I could have made to treat myself for my birthday . I keep thinking "I wonder if her hands get tired doing all these massages " but by her 5 plus star massage you would never know if they did ! My husband found Rose and gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. She has wonderful calming and relaxing energy. Her space is intimate and personal, I always feel like I get her full attention. When I arrived I was excited to see she also does reiki, chakra balancing and Angel card readings! She is genuine and warm. Since my first massage, I have returned multiple times for all of different treatments and each was healing and rejuvenating. I highly recommend the chakra balance. Rose is a delight! She makes me want to come back for more. I've tried pretty much all of her services now and they all have been exceptional compared to previous experiences at more well known establishments around the Bay Area. She definitely wants to help you relieve your tension spots and not in a rush to do it. Facials are organic which is great for sensitive skin. She is super skilled, has been doing massage for years and is a great healer. After my usual 90 minute massage, my body feels amazing and very rejuvenated. I found this place using SpaFinder and decided to get a massage and facial. I first liked the atmosphere when I walked in. Everything is so cute, the decorations are all pink and it just looks relaxing. The massage was first. I've been looking forward to it for a long time and it was amazing. I told her my problem area and she spent a lot of time on it and made sure all the tension was gone before moving on to other things. Then I got my facial.
