Santosha - One of my favorite places to practice yoga in Indianapolis!

Yoga! My wife has been a member here for several months. Today, I had the chance to join her and…read moretry out the level 2 heated (85 degrees F) yoga. The location is very easy to get to near college and 86th. The free parking is right out front. When you walk in, you enter into a relaxing, peaceful, welcoming environment. Yoga was amazing. It was my first practice in 6-7 years. The yoga instructor talked to me beforehand to get to know me. She also talked after. And during, I was able to follow her. I loved it. I went there feeling blah and came home feeling strong! I'll be back.

This place. This is the place. I don't even know where or how or when I first heard of Santosha…read more But somehow I found out about it, then Instagram stalked them for several months. Then, I was in the neighborhood (they're located in Nora) and stopped by Santosha in person, and talked to the friendly and chill guy who was there. He gave me a tour of the studio, which is more like a small community center. They have a full kitchen, which is where they teach classes on Ayurvedic cooking and hold potluck dinners. They have an upstairs studio and a downstairs studio, where they teach yoga classes for all levels, plus other classes like breathwork and meditation. There's a salon on site where you can get your hair cut and styled. And there's a gift shop area with lots of really cool things to buy, like Manduka yoga mats, essential oils, books, and lots of other great things. I took the plunge and signed up for one of their $5 community yoga classes. They offer $5 classes almost every day of the week, so you can drop in and try a yoga class or meditation class without commitment. I dropped in on a Saturday morning, and was welcomed and felt right at home. Santosha is a warm and welcoming place in a totally authentic kind of way. I get the feeling that the people who work here are invested in helping people feel their physical and spiritual best. Anyway, the yoga class I took was small: It was our instructor, me and three other people who I'm pretty sure were regulars. The people in the class were older than me by at least 15 years, which I appreciated because I love practicing yoga with older people and people who have been practicing longer than I have. It's inspiring! The $5 classes are taught by student teachers. My teacher that day was very good and seemed to intuit what we needed. It was me and three people who were all over the age of 65, so our class was mellow and gentle and slow, which was just what I was looking for. I loved my yoga class at Santosha, just like I knew I would when I started following them on social media. I'm already planning my next visit -- I'd like to try their Level 1 yoga classes as a legit member, and possibly even their Ayurvedic classes. I love that this place exists!
