I felt that the elevated nature was more performative, whereas the actual flavor delivery was a bit average for the price point. Now I have almost the opposite opinion. The flavors are explosive and well-defined. A great example is the udon soup. The first time I ordered it years ago, it was good as a value purchase, but totally unremarkable. They've since replaced it with the "Sukiyaki Udon", which is probably the best udon I've ever had in my life. And I order beef udon literally everywhere. Their ramen is another good example. It straight up dominates Tamashii, Goro, and all the lesser ramen places in the city. Every bite and ingredient basically melts your face off. What stands out about those two ridiculously good items is it completely dissolves the concerns I had in my initial review, that it was elevated and performative and expensive for the sake of it. But the two items I just mentioned are both relatively cheap and extremely good value. So you can both splurge and spend $300 or feed two people for $40. It's a great balance depending on mood/occasion. I chose this for my last birthday. Hopefully it continues to impress.

Creative and refreshing, but too wet from the cucumber. The Smokin' Salmon Aburi was good, but had too many competing flavors. The most interesting item was the Baked King of Crab. I wasn't impressed at first, but after deconstructing it and eating the components separately, I discovered multiple types of crab, including a crab leg. That turned it into a 5/5.

I notified the waitress and she was very apologetic. She brought me a new bottle of soy sauce. I continued eating and things were going okay until the manager came to my table. She apologized for the fly and I told her that I understand that things happen sometimes. She proceeded to tell me that employees are instructed to strain the soy sauce prior to pouring it into the individual containers on the table. She walked off before I could fully consider that she meant strain for bugs or wonder why the soy sauce would need to be strained if it was fresh or sealed. No mention was made of giving me any kind of discount or replacing the piece of sushi that I lost to the fly incident.
