I'd never been there before or even heard of it for that matter. The inside was a bit dark and I'd say it appears smaller from the inside than it does the outside. After queing for about 5 minutes, we ordered a couple of ciders and took them outside. I was surprised there weren't more benches and seating options than there were as there seemed to be a lot of people there. There wasn't much of an atmosphere as there was a complete mix of people, both young and old, but the venue was OK and perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to go and enjoy a drink.

Yes, this is one of my favourite times of the year - The Raven's Bonfire Extravaganza! I came here every year as a child and I continue to keep The Raven torch alive now with my friends. Once a year we get together, meeting on the train, transferring to a bus and ending the journey in a taxi. It's worth it, believe me! We start off the afternoon by grabbing a bite to eat from the vast menu, then we watch the late football game in the side bar. As the evening draws closer we go out into the huge garden for the spectacular fireworks display and enjoy a jacket potato, a burger or a hot dog from one of the food stands. The night ends with us putting our final coins into the jukebox and we dance the night away. The pub got refurbished last October so I popped in to have a nose around. It looks amazing. The menus have been updated, the garden has been spruced up and the layout of the pub is more open and welcoming. The only downside is that they have taken out the jukebox but...they've replaced it with a quiz machine, so I was kept happy. I can't wait to go back this October to enjoy another great night out.

Our table was dirty so…read morewe kindly asked if she would mind getting a cloth as all the other tables were taken and she ignored us, huffed and walked off. We ended up having to clear the table ourselves! We ordered a couple of drinks but as the atmosphere was frosty after that, we decided to go else where to dine and buy a full bottle of wine. Overall, the venue was pretty shabby and the staff need some training in customer service skills.

Previously this little number resembled a lonely divorcee in the middle of a midlife crisis. Being taken advantage of by the local men and in need of some TLC after an unsuccessful sting at being a "reflex" bar. The new and improved Hungry Horse Castle Bromwich is near unrecognisable. The previously worn outside bench area has been replaced by a lavish seating space with furnishings and plants to help welcome potential visitors but this is just the start. Once through the glass doors you are amidst the clutches of a wonderful new restaurant. With the cosy bar to your right and seating areas for dining to your left, the element of pub and grub is put into perfect practise. Brand new American style booths, accompanied by a small TV screen help to create a real family feel. The conventional round family tables occupy up to 8 comfortably as well as the traditional table for a small family of four or five. But less of the table and more of what's on it. The food. WOW. Unlike many pubs turned restaurants, this Hungry Horse provide a snazzy list of delights as well as many family favourites. The array of meat dishes, sides and salads have you drooling as you read, and it doesn't disappoint. The young waiters and waitresses can't seem to do enough for you and ensure your every need is catered for. They say you can't put lipstick on a pig. Scary Canary is a cool little bar / venue at the top of Stourbridge High Street, housed in the…read moreformer McDonalds building. On entering through a fairly plain black door you walk upstairs to find yourself in a lovely room filled with quirky lighting, mis-matched chairs, tables and sofas and with loads of art by local artists on the walls, (most of it for sale). The venue regularly hosts gigs, film nights and quizzes with a different theme each week. Last time I did a film quiz there, one of the rounds was 'who can draw the best picture of Steve Buscemi'! The bar is well stocked with a good range of beers, wine and spirits and also sells snacks like crisps and nuts. It also has a really great sound system and a small area that serves as a stage and dance floor. I went to Scary Canary last night for a birthday party and had a great evening, I would really recommend it as an alternative to all of the chain / old man pubs that are in Stourbridge.
