My wife and I loved going here on Wednesdays for curry night. However, they have changed the menu for cheap options but with a price increase. They no longer do the lamb rogan josh or the beef madras, the options now are a couple of chicken dishes, a mince and a chickpea dish. None are particularly appetising. Out with the old and in with the new. The Hunters Moon pub, was recently acquired by Pub Grub specialist, Hungry Horse Co. Previously this little number resembled a lonely divorcee in the middle of a midlife crisis. Being taken advantage of by the local men and in need of some TLC after an unsuccessful sting at being a "reflex" bar. The new and improved Hungry Horse Castle Bromwich is near unrecognisable. The previously worn outside bench area has been replaced by a lavish seating space with furnishings and plants to help welcome potential visitors but this is just the start. Once through the glass doors you are amidst the clutches of a wonderful new restaurant. With the cosy bar to your right and seating areas for dining to your left, the element of pub and grub is put into perfect practise. Brand new American style booths, accompanied by a small TV screen help to create a real family feel. The conventional round family tables occupy up to 8 comfortably as well as the traditional table for a small family of four or five. But less of the table and more of what's on it. The food. WOW. Unlike many pubs turned restaurants, this Hungry Horse provide a snazzy list of delights as well as many family favourites. The array of meat dishes, sides and salads have you drooling as you read, and it doesn't disappoint. The young waiters and waitresses can't seem to do enough for you and ensure your every need is catered for. They say you can't put lipstick on a pig. But if that pig becomes a Hungry Horse, a lavish bar and delicious food, you can put 4 stars on it! Well worth a visit! * * * * read more

I visited the Hunters Moon for the 1st time last week. Food was good and well priced as it usually is at a Hungry Horse restaurant. It's not as good as some of the other Hungry Horse's I've been to, but all in all it was ok. I personally think that the place could do with a bit of renovation as it seemed a bit dark and dingy and in need of decoration. Other than that I would recommend going. read more

Saturday nite was my first visit to the club part of the Hunters Moon. On my previous visit it was too full! My feet stuck to the floor as I walked towards the bar. £3 entry wasn't bad for a Saturday nite, but I don't think I got my money's worth. The DJ played a mixture of songs - some well known and some that hardly anyone seemed to know. There was very little modern music played, and I don't think I actually heard the end of a song before it was cut off. There were some very young people allowed in (maybe 15/16 year old). The bar service was unfair - usually aimed at the more visually interesting ladies. Entertainment was found in the two guys dancing on stage - who apparently spend their free time there every Friday and Saturday nite busting some moves! I have only been to The Hunters Moon twice - albeit in the last fortnight because it is fairly close to my dear friend Ally. There is a large car park to the front & side so there is never a parking problem especially on a Tuesday Night! All of the Staff have been well trained always smiling and always attentive which is down to the Boss, Laurence. The Hunters Moon is part of the Hungry Horse brand which in turn is part of The Greene King Empire which means there are always 2 Real Ales available a passion of mine & Ally. When I first met her many moons ago she drank Lager & Lime & wondered why she had a hangover afterwards too many chemicals! Ally was consistent having the Smothered 9oz Steak Sizzler on both occasions which were both cooked medium to perfection at £9.39p. I like variation so on my first visit I had The Slow-Cooked Lamb Shank at £8.59p. The meat literally fell off the bone a superb meal with quality service. On visit number 2 (Feb 12th 2013) I had the Mild or Wild Chicken Skewer with Jalapeno sauce. Wow! Wow! Wow! At £8.69p it was superb value for money and cooked to perfection. Sometimes chicken skewers are cooked without a glaze and have all the flavour & texture of cardboard not these they were sublime & so tender & tasty. Ally & I shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was well chilled & well below £10. We concluded with 2 Irish Liqueor Coffees superb. If you live anywhere in the viciinity try The Hunters Moon you will not be disappointed. read more
