What a random and delightful spot to pop into! There lots of good food on this island and we hit this spot in the way outta town. It's cute!maybe a few spots to sit outside but really it's a take and go situation. Love that you can see their production kitchen. The service was friendly. When I heard my total $ for the order I was like what!! But then when I picked one up and realized the gravity of the situation and took a bite, I totally understood the prices. This place is awesome! It was busy with a steady flow of both tourists and locals around 11am on a Monday. The service was fast and the people were friendly and helpful. There were many options, all of which sounded great. I also appreciated the sign listing all their products with center-cut pictures showing the inside of each of the handpies as well as descriptions. Ultimately, we selected three: the PEI Pasty, the chicken pot pie, and the cheesy potato. My favorite was definitely the cheesy potato (which had a filling very similar to a traditional polish perogie, which perfectly showcased the PEI potatoes) but all were delicious! In addition to the scrumptious fillings, the pie dough was great. It had a buttery flavor and had the perfect consistency to have some flakiness without falling apart when eating the handpies. Outside, there were a few picnic tables but all were in the sun, so we sat on our blanket in the shade of a tree to enjoy our pies and hang out with our dogs. We were so happy to have stumbled upon this place because it was a perfect way to end our trip to PEI! read more

Probably a 3.5*, maybe even a 4*, but there's no inside seating (with or without service); and they don't ship to Ontario :-(. These hand pies are indeed hand made, and the biggest part of this building is dedicated to manufacturing them. You can buy hot pies and eat them outside on the picnic table, but the day we were there was sunny but windy and cool. There are a few tasty variations from breakfast to dinner and dessert. The ones I tasted were good. You can buy them frozen, and heat them up at home for 40-45 minutes. They offer a special price when you buy quantities. I look forward to going back! I just don't know when that will be. read more

We stopped at The Handpie Company, and while the bumbleberry pie was definitely the highlight of our visit, the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. We tried four other pies, but none of them stood out as memorable. Unfortunately, the warmed bacon cheeseburger pie I had was dried out, and a few hours later it left me feeling nauseous, which ruined the rest of my evening. Another major concern: the business serves food but does not provide bathrooms for customers. I can't help but question how this meets provincial health and food safety requirements. On top of that, the customer service felt uninspiring and did not improve the overall experience. Plus there is just seating outside with no shelter from the weather. The bumbleberry pie alone deserves recognition, but everything else needs significant improvement before I could recommend returning. read more

This place was recommended by à friend who took à trip out to PEI and it did not disappoint. We tried three different varieties; pork and apple, spicy black bean and chicken pot pie. They were all good but the pork and Apple was our stand out favorite. The pastry was supremely buttery and flaky. We also appreciated the open kitchen We could observe through the glass. If you're driving through PEI, make sure to make a stop at The Handpie Company. We went for the PEI Pasty and the Chicken Pot Pie. They were hot and fresh and ready to eat. The PEI pasty was my favourite one of the two. I loved the flaky crust and the generous stewed beef and potatoes. Super friendly staff as well. You can tell they put lots of love and care into making these pies. Can't wait until we can have them in Ontario. Until then, we will have to make a trip back here again. read more

We came here several times to pickup Handpies or pasties, because they were so fresh and delicious. You can literally see the factory kitchen when you walk in. We ate them so fast that we didn't even get a picture! Great product! Hopefully this product will spread further into the mainland. read more

This is an absolutely fantastic spot to grab something to eat. The pies are very tasty and quite reasonably priced considering the quality of the ingredients. There are hot pies ready to eat, or you can buy frozen pies to cook at home. There is nowhere to sit inside, but there are picnic tables out front. I believe this place is actually called Handpie, Co. It was delicious! If you enjoy comfort food and pot pies this is perfect for you. I had the chicken pot pie and my brother had the BBQ pulled pork. Very good! You can even take some frozen ones home to cook yourself. I believe they had other ones such as curry and cheesy potato onion. There were more but I can't remember. Keep in mind they close at 6 PM so you don't miss it! read more

Could I give this place more stars? We ordered the lobster roll and the fish cakes with green salad. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The lobster roll was large with big pieces of choice lobster meat and although I usually skip the bread, it was so good that I ate much of it. It came with lettuce, tomato, a small side of potato salad (other thing I never eat, but gobbled) and even a lovely edible nasturtium flower. The fish cakes were tasty and potato based and the salad just came from the farm. Our server was just the sweetest, most soft-spoken young lady. They have tables outside and we had a lovely day to enjoy our meal. read more

These are the best handpies I have ever had and one of the top things I miss when not on island! The spicy black bean, the curried chickpea, the all day breakfast, the taco - they are all incredible! In town for a hockey tournament and drove by this spot enroute to our daughter's early morning game and commented we must try that on the way back to our hotel. On our way back, we drove right by it, but decided to u-turn and try it out. So glad we did! Pies were delicious!! Hubbie had the PEI pasty (beef stew), kids each had the birthday one and I had the traditional apple pie. All were delicious, the birthday cake was surprisingly good for us as parents to sample. Definitely a good quick meal option for those on the go. The clerk who served us was delightful and the atmosphere was very cool with the cooking area on full display. I saw some great reviews on Google so decided to make this my lunch stop before crossing the bridge. Only to discover THIS PLACE IS NOT A RESTAURANT. Food: 2 stars. Mine (chicken pot pie) was average. Kids (pulled pork BBQ) was "good". Wife's (some cranberry cheese combo) she characterized as the most disgusting thing she ever tasted. So food was mixed/poor. Service: 2 stars. The people working here had good intentions and were nice. But the service from a customer's perspective was poor because there were only a small number of pot pies ready to eat in the case. We could have ordered a frozen pie and asked them to heat it up (only 45 minutes!?!?) or taken it home and heated it ourselves (ok...but if I wanted to go grocery shopping I'd hit a grocery store). Now, some hot ones were just coming out and the employees were very helpful about that. Decor: 1 Star. It is a factory with a small vending area in the front. NO TABLES EXCEPT PICNIC TABLES OUTSIDE. I would give this little gem of a restaurant 10 stars if I could! The food is incredibly fresh, locally sourced, flavourful and delicious! The owner is charming and obviously passionate about providing fantastic home made food. My husband had the fish cakes and beans (absolutely scrumptious), I had a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and tomato which was by far the best grilled cheese I've ever had (and it wasn't even on the menu!)...we also had a family sized salad with home made balsamic dressing (OMG it was so good!) and the kiddies had delicious grilled cheese with tomato too. Nice picnic tables to eat on and the owner is bursting with positive energy. They even gave us a little pint of blueberries to snack on while we waited. Great spot. I wish our cottage was closer but it is somewhere we will go every time we are on the island. read more
