firstly, I would like to say that this has nothing to do with the service provided by Pam & Brian at the Superstore Optical, I quite enjoy going into see them. They are kind, understanding and great at what they do!! That being said, I went in today to get my glasses adjusted, and while there inquired about getting new lenses put into my current frames as I really like them and there is nothing wrong with them. Brian quickly found my info, and told me the price which was around $100.00, which is reasonable. It is, however, corporate policy to charge $40.00+ taxes extra for a customer that just wants to use their current frames!!! What kind of money hungry, BS is that? Considering that I am a current customer and take my entire family there for their optical needs as well, this seems like a quick cash grab just because the corporation can get away with it!! THIS IS A DISGRACEFUL TACTIC!!! ATLANTIC SUPERSTORE OPTICAL DIVISION NEEDS TO REVISE THESE INSIDIOUS POLICIES !!! read more

The store is not as clean as Sobeys and service is deplorable however, about 35% cheaper than Sobeys and you get points. It's worth the pain. read more

Atlantic superstore is a very large super market. Think Vons Pavillion or Target Greatland size wise. The outside of this monstrosity looks more like a weird government building orange logo and glass. Its right to Walmart. I hate that there is NO landscaping or plants on the outside. Actually most businesses here are like Zero Frills with making their business visually appealing and attractive on the outside. It's depressing. Anyway , visuals aside, I do like that the store carries some essentials like ready made green chille sauce and Ramen. They have a nice selection of crockery too when you realize you can't have a dinner party with paper plates and dixie cups. They also carry an assortment of small appliances, household goods etc. They dont seem to carry Nori , seaweed wrappers for sushi though. ( Sobeys does but has them by the deli section by their sushi, not in the ethnic food aisle) I am glad that they have self check out but their machines are as slow as their checkers and they are pretty slow here. There are always long lines like the DMV. I just wish that they carried more Organic veggies and put them all together in a logical way but I am grateful they carry other products I cannot do without and that their prices seem a little better than Sobey's. read more

We had rented a cabin on Prince Edward Island so needed groceries for a vacation. This store had great produce and lots of quality prepared food items that made our food preparation easy and in keeping with our holiday experience. This is a large and well stocked market that gets high marks read more

Sobey's corp actually just bought out Safeway ( gasp). Anyway. They have a decent health food section which I was happy to find , a decent veggie section, mediocre deli section, sad bread area. However they have a nice little bakery area with eclairs , cupcakes etc. But whenever I go there and am being helped by very friendly bakery staff , there is always some pumpkinhead who thinks that they needed to be waited on first just because they may have placed a cake order ahead of time. What is up with that? This one woman actually went behind the counter to get another employee to help her since the male employee was busy getting my order. The male employee: " I will help you in a second ma'am as soon as I am done with these folks" Woman: " I have an order to pick up!" Then she looked at me like Cleopatra, perfectly justified for trying to bump in line in front of me. Her shrill tone brought out another employee to get the Queen's order. The bakery staff handled that potentially irate woman like a boss. Great customer service and team work. They do carry more organic veggies ( which sadly is still not enough) then say Atlantic Superstore BUT they are not in one section together. I try to eat mostly organic veggies but apparently this island is stuck in the dark ages still( look up GMOs , Franken Food etc) So I literally have to hunt around the veggie section since they dont have a logical way of placing their organic produce . Say for instance you can put the regular carrots here , then right by it , put the Organic carrots. Or make a little section with ALL your organic offerings IN ONE PLACE. Because that would make sense and not waste my time. My last nit picky thing is they have the slowest cashiers on the planet but maybe I do need to slow down and not be so uptight since I am on the island to relax and slow down.

Do not be put off by the rows of candy in barrels, they do have some healthy food in here. Egg replacer, quinoa , organic spelt flour , spouted options , nuts, pumpkin seeds , ready made granola etc. A true gem for people who like to bake , cook and be healthy.

I had Acadian style Cajun Gumbo with shrimp, chicken and sausage served on a bed of rice pilaf. Hominy corn soup with chicken in a broth. Killer Seafood Chowder seasoned perfectly. Chicken Fricot is shredded chicken and potato soup. For dessert Acadian Poutine a Trou a bread filled with apples, raisins and cinnamon covered in a cinnamon, butter and brown sugar sauce. Was the best food on the island other than the typical seafood, which is also great!! A truly unique and delicious dining experience. I would recommend to anyone coming to PEI. Very affordable!
