They provided all the information we needed about the ferry ride, the trams needed to move luggage, the food and dining choices on the island, and more. The cottage was clean and bright. I wish that they told you to bring your own supplies such as toilet paper, paper towel, dish soap, tablets, sponge, trash bags, laundry soap, and bath towels. They have a washer and dryer however the dryer is not funtional when you turn it on the lint catcher that seperates the cloths from the heating element comes off. The dishwasher's top rack is broken and hangs down on oneside making it hard to use. The sink has no garbage disposal and backs up easy. And the place is not very clean as a matter of fact it boarders on unsanitary, the kitchen floors look like they have never been cleaned, sticky stuff on the light switches, moldings and baseboards, the screens are broken and I think the last time the windows were cleaned may have been the last century. The mattress on the beds are horrible unless you dont mind rolling downhill to the middle of the mattress, very uncomfortable to sleep on. The more we write the lower the rating goes, the only thing keeping this from being a one is the beautiful view and easy access to the ocean. The owners need to do a better job of maintaining the property and should consider hiring another cleaning company if they have one at all. The property management company has been accomodating and did send a maintenace person out when we called because of the shower was backing up, they also brought us some baking sheets upon request.

Just got back from a trip at Bald Head Island. I was extremely unsatisfied with the rental. When we…read moregot there the golf carts did not have the plastic covers as it is cold in December that should've been done by the management team. There was no power in the garage so you had to manually lift the garage doors, and there was no light in the garage which is dangerous. It was disturbing to find wood next to the cooking surface covering a very large hole with duct tape and OSB board. The ocean front view was obstructed in one of the bedrooms by plywood on the window. With no blind in that bedroom the light came directly in in the mornings. The electrical panel could not be found it was locked in the owners closet. That is clearly a violation to not be able to turn the electric off in the house. We also could not get in that room to try to fix the wiring and get the lights working in the garage and the garage door opener's. I reached out to the staff and Gloria didn't want to hear any complaints, didn't like my directness, I didn't like paying $4700 for a weeks vacation with things that simply are broken and not ready for tenants. The name of the house was Carolina Dreaming. It's great when they take pictures of the front of the house so that you can't see all of the flaws that are truly in the home. The maintenance staff when called did come and repair all of the lights that were out and electricity not working in the garage. It did not take away my unhappiness about a unit that should never have been rented to the public and certainly the Property Management by their own admission, said she was never in the property. You would think that they would check the unit before renting it. Meanwhile I spent my own time on vacation putting plastic on golf carts and cleaning them up so that you could go around the island. The bicycle that was there has nothing but rusty chains and would not be able to go anywhere. Very disappointed in this company and the rental. 226 W Bald Wynd

The Middle Island property (See Urchins on 7 Cape Creek Road) was clean and well maintained and offered a great view of the ocean from the deck and screened in porch. Things I liked: * I loved the responsiveness of the staff to any problems were encountered (an infestation of ants in the kitchen and a wi-fi outage). Within forty minutes of our call, they had staff at the house addressing the problem. * Great wi-fi signal * Loved having two sets of washers and dryers * Appreciated the complimentary membership to Bald Head Island Country Club * The house had plenty of beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. * The pool table offered a pleasant diversion during inclement weather. Things I didn't: * The kitchen was out and out dreadful. There are few decent dining establishments on the island so we cooked most of our meals during our stay, but it was an ordeal. The cookware and utensils looked like they came from the discard dumpster behind the local Goodwill store. The heating elements on the small electric range went from barely warm to incinerate with the smallest adjustment. Anything put in the back of the refrigerator froze solid after a couple of hours. The tiny footprint of the kitchen had it near impossible for than two people to work at the same time. We have vacationed in North Carolina several times and this was hands down the worst kitchen arrangement we have ever encountered. * While the bed was comfortable on the lower level bedroom, its proximity to the air conditioners was problematic. It took a couple of nights to get used to sleeping with the roar of the AC units. * While I liked the quiet setting of the house, its remote location meant the golf carts got a lot of use. With four sets of adults, having only two four-seat carts was problematic and we ended up renting a third golf cart for an additional fee.

We didn't care or complain. They then blamed me for it and said since the people after me noticed it right away and called I must have broke it. They also misled about the location of the house saying it was across the street from the beach when it was considerably further. The blamed us for scratches on the golf cart that were already there. All in all very dissatisfied and will use VRBO or another realtor in the future

Renting through Bald Head Island Limited resulted in alot of frustration because of transportation…read moreblunders and several careless accounting mistakes on their part... ranging from an overcharge, an erroneous charge sent to us the night we arrived and an unauthorized charge posted to our bank account. It was also difficult to get a response from them. Took 2 attempts to get a reply from the erroneous charge sent to us the night we arrived. Took 3 phone calls when transportation did not pick us up the day of departure after being told we were confirmed and on the list to be picked up at a specified time and took 3 attempts to receive a response after contacting CEO, CFO, Head of Transportation and Assistant General Manager with a summary of our experience. This was our 3rd year at Bald Head Island (the first year renting through Bald Head Island Limited) and the most frustrating in all our 40 years of renting houses.

First off, after having paid ~$5000 for the week, we were amazed how CHEAP the property was stocked and the attitude of the property management company. The house supposedly sleeps 10 or more people and yet they provided 3 rolls of toilet paper for the entire house. Similarly, there were only 6 small individual pouches of laundry detergent and 6 individual packets of dishwasher detergent. Someone actually took the time to put these way under-supplied amounts into small ziplock bags. And there was one roll of paper towels. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU SKIMP AND PUT AN IMMEDIATE BURDEN ON THE RENTER TO HAVE TO BUY MORE SUPPLIES WHEN SUCH SUPPLIES ARE CHEAP AND EASY TO SUPPLY IN THE FIRST PLACE?! Just plain cheap way of doing things. The dryer did not work properly and had to be serviced to work which only happened halfway through our stay. Also, the cooking non-stick pans were horrible and scratched ... probably unsafe/unhealthy in that condition ... and again, you can buy nice new ones for $15 each. There was also not enough silverware ... probably a total of 7 forks ... and 3 of them were tiny salad forks ... agan why undersupply such an inexpensive item that ruins an experience ... particularly when you don't have enough dishwasher detergent to rewash easily? Only one bike worked ... they had to put together new bikes that only happened partway though our stay and all of the beach chairs were broken. There was also ZERO cleaning supplies in the entire house ... nothing to even clean the kitchen counter ... just odd & cheap. This was the type of situation you might expect to see at a cheap college beach rental in Myrtle Beach but not at a high-end island resort town like Bald Head ... and certainly not for the rental rate. VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. Would AVOID!
