i purchased a hair piece from Frank at the hair studio. frank cut the piece to "match" my style. he did a terrible job. i called to discuss how we could fix it. I NEVER ASKED FOR MY MONEY BACK ($700.00). he attempted on fix, put in extensions that fell out. when i came back he added 2 more. the problem was the bangs, he put the extensions on the side of the hair piece. i called again, he was verbally abusive. told me i was too difficult to work with, told and he was done with me. this is how he a shop owner speaks to customers?? AGAIN, I NEVER ASKED FOR A REFUND. i now have to go someplace else, spend more money to have it fixed. read more

Okay, so I got a couple of customers mad at me, saying I'm a liar or my mom was crazy to think she could get her hair done without an appointment, so here is the story to set it straight: my mom did not set an appointment; she drove down the street and saw the signage that said "walk-ins welcome"; my mom parked at the library and saw the sign again: "walk-ins welcome"; she walked in; she wasn't welcome. This Frank takes the time to do facial structure and is a maestro and does highlights and yes walk-ins were welcome that day, but when my mom went in, he told her that he didn't have time for her, that there aren't enough employees, that highlights are a waste of time on her (even though that's what she wanted), and for her to go away and come back another time. He only had one customer, not five. He didn't offer to let her set an appointment, just for her to go away and come back another time. Simply put: he didn't want to do HER hair. I see plenty of other women getting their hair done, but she was shoed away. My mother came home crying because that's how we were treated in Alabama. Didn't come to Pittsfield, MA to be treated with discrimination by Frank, or have to put up with false advertising. Which is what happened. So please don't call me a liar or say my mom was crazy. She got mistreated, and I got mad, so I wrote the review, which is pretty restrained as far as reactions go after hearing a family member getting discriminated against so badly like that. He never apologized or anything. But whatever. Enjoy your experience at Frank's, because some people aren't treated there as well as you get to be. read more

I've been going to The Hair Studio for about a year and a half for regular hair cuts, highlights, and brow waxing. While Frank and Tony seem to be the favorites here, Bianca is my stylist and does a great job. I get SO many compliments on my highlights and cut. Right now I'm growing my hair out, which many curlies like myself dread because it always seems to grow OUT instead of DOWN! Bianca is a master with my layers though, so for the first time ever my hair has a fabulous non-triangle shape while growing out beautifully! The only issue I have is she usually can't get my hair as defined and curly as I normally can, but I have very difficult hair and no stylist has ever been able to get it right. Prices are about on par with a high end salon, but worth it in my opinion. I've had many cheap cuts and colors that came out looking cheap, so I would rather put in the investment. Overall, The Hair Studio is well worth the price and I look forward to being pampered every 6-8 weeks :) read more

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I needed help in terms of picking a wig and how to handle her remaining hair. Frank was wonderful. He immediately put us both at ease for such an uncomfortable situation. He made us feel very welcome and handled the whole situation. A true professional. He removed the remaining hair and found an absolutely beautiful wig. She looked perfect in it. He truly made my mother smile after such an emotional moment. I would recommend this salon to everyone. Andrea gave me a wonderful change from the "too gold" blonde I walked in the door of the salon with to a "soft subdued " blonde with some nice "painted" highlites plus a nice shaping trim. The salon is filled with light and a calming pleasure. I thought the services were a little pricey but worth it because I will definitely be back. read more

The best haircut I have gotten since I moved to Pittsfield. Frank is a creative genius. I have spent some much time not liking my hair. Frank takes the time to study face structure, hair strength and texture, and then creates a miracle, which includes your input. He is also a master colorist. He doesn't mess around.
