Just moved to the area. I walked in today for a quick trim. The studio was very busy so I wasn't expecting to be seen right away. The first stylist who helped me was about to schedule me for an appointment next week. But then a different stylist stopped her and tried to find a way for me to get my trim within 15 minutes. Both stylists offered me a beverage while i waited! I was so impressed and surprised at how helpful, kind, and eager they were to help me and make my wait enjoyable! Thanks ladies! We just moved to Palm Desert in December. I had my long time hair stylist do my hair just before our move. I have had two bad experiences getting my hair done here at two different salons- one for a cut and one for a color ( that place ripped me off at the cost of $275 !!!) While I admit, I didn't take a photo in the moment, I have to RAVE about this salon (specifically Sephany)! It took a *minute* to get ahold of anyone there, as I had called two separate occasions prior to this visit, with nothing but voicemail.....BUT I am a local girl (essentially all my life), and as of late, I have been doing my best to be super true to MY local businesses-especially those close to home and work which are about a 5 mile radius all said and done. I have driven by The Hair Studio for several years now (ergo the multiple calls to get an appointment) and have just always thought...."maybe some day....when I have time"....well I finally had a little bit of time, AND I did not get voicemail this time....lol Needless to say, it was one of the most honest, and BEST experiences I have had. The stylist that I had my original appointment with was not comfortable with doing my hair and expressed just as much (which I appreciate after my last EPIC fail with a stylist from Groupon who fried my super thin/fine hair). Bear with me-I am trying to make a long story short-The Stylist I was referred to at that point was Sephany. She took me right in (she had time in the exact perfect moment I needed it) and I swear, it was magical..... I explained all that had happened in the last six months to Sephany and she "Got Me"....she got "It"....I don't know how to explain it, but it just REALLY worked. As I told Sephany (who was very concerned and highly interested in MY style, both cut as well as MY being able to recreate what she could do) my husband could care less about my hair. I could shave my head bald and he wouldn't care (and has said as much), nor would he likely notice (sound familiar ladies.....?)....he never has unless its been a drastic change like blonde to jet black..... Short of it is-Sephany is great! I have another appointment for color (which I wish I would have had time for in the moment).....AND the last two best parts? I LOVE my new 'do and the HUBBY finally noticed that I did something with my hair, HE loved it! If you have a *minute* give this place a shot-check out their website (which is awesome-you can see-literally-the stylist with which you are paired). The website will give you a taste of Jenny's impeccable style as well as her apparent judgement ( I have yet to meet this amazing woman). My wife has very fine hair. Every stylist she has tried so far over the last eleven years in Portland, which is our primary residence, and in Palm Springs, where we spend much of the winter, as well as in cities like New York and San Francisco, where we have traveled, has been unable satisfactorily to cut and style it. Only during her annual visits to Ukraine has she been able to find someone who does an adequate job. That has changed with her discovery of Sephany at the Hair Studio. Sephany did a marvelous job, thrilling my wife and greatly pleasing me. And my wife found her also to be very congenial. For us, the Hair Studio well deserves a five-star rating. read more

Then I met Jenny. We met socially and instantly became friends. From my very first visit to her salon, I was met with a warm and friendly atmosphere. My consolation was thorough and professional. I enjoy my time in her chair; chatting with the other stylists and clients and ALWAYS loving the results. This is a top notch establishment! I've recommended it to my equally discerning friends and they are also pleased to have found such skilled and talented stylists is such a lovely, warm salon. Sephany is amazing, she is an artist. My daughter and I both went in for our hair today. My daughter got a Baliyage and I did some Redken shades EQ gloss. My mom is a retired hairdresser and is the only one who has ever done our hair, kind of scary to try something new. They really listen to you and give you what you want. The salon is so welcoming and beautiful. Jenny the owner is such a sweetheart and they all take pride in what they do. We won't be going anywhere else. This is a very low 2 stars. I never write reviews, but I am so distraught about my hair I can't believe a stylist would let me leave a hair salon the way my hair was. Maybe this is geared to the older clientele because they don't care or can't see as well and don't have long hair?.... I got my hair colored yesterday and the woman who did my hair, Mary, but she did not by any means do what I wanted. My hair originally had a TON of highlights and lowlights, different shades of blonde but a lot of cool tones to them. It has taken me years trying to get red out of my hair and it's finally cool tones. I told her I wanted my hair to be darker to an ashy tone but ABSOLUTELY NO RED OR BRASS. She said she can do it, so I trusted her. She mixed my color, slapped it on within 10 min and I waited 45. We decided to go with one color because the picture I showed her was 'too much of a process' as she stated. At that point I should of just left because it was exactly what I wanted especially with my hair color being the way it was. Well, I didn't and we did my hair to cover up the blonde.....She did my hair while in between another client, so it was absolutely rushed. There was color all over my neck, my forehead, and some on my cheek. Another stylist came over and wiped it off for me while I was processing. For that alone, I gave this place an extra star because someone else cared..When I was done processing the stylist rinsed it out and took me back to the chair. She began to blow dry my hair and literally ripping the brush through my hair. I can see actual clumps of hair being pulled out of my head! She didn't put any extra conditioning in my hair nor did she use heat protectant spray. I didn't even get a style and my hair was still damp when she was 'done'. My hair is so dark, there was absolutely no ashe tone to it. All I can see is black in the mirror. I was thinking maybe this isn't that bad because I've had dark hair before and it was still damp....so then I left, which I should not have because when I got to my car to examine it in natural lighting my hair was frizzy, my ends felt like the end of a broom stick, and worst of all that bright red/ brassy color! When I got home, already upset, my husband noticed patches of hair in the back of my head which weren't even colored and look like spots. At that point I lost it. I have a military ball to go to next week and this is completely unacceptable. At that point, I personally texted this stylist letting her know how distraught I was and I wanted my money back. She offered to do my hair again, but after feeling like I was taken advantage of because I'm younger than her regular clients and how my hair was treated and felt after there was no way I was going back. I said I rather not and she has not and probably won't responded as to regards to a refund. Very upsetting for how high the ratings were! read more

It's unfortunate when a person has such high expectations of a business, especially after reading such great reviews on here, and are let down from the moment you step in. I'll make it clear that I never got to the point of becoming a customer/client. I live very close by and decided to give this place a try. I didn't have an appointment and was happy to see that they accepted walk-ins. However, when I walked in and stood by the front counter for about a minute to be acknowledged, a stylist (the older lady with the first booth/chair at the salon) turned around, looked at me and then turned back around to continue chatting with a customer. I felt so awkward just standing there but decided to stay since I needed a haircut...badly. So I walked over to the couch and sat down hoping that someone would at least greet me and let me know that they'd get to me once they had a chance. But it didn't happen...for 7 minutes (I timed it haha). In those 7 minutes various stylists turned around or glanced at me but never said a thing. I didn't feel like my business was needed so I got up and proceeded to walk out. As I was walking out, a stylist finally came up to ask, "Are you waiting for someone?" in which I replied, "I'm a walk-in but never mind." Ironically there was a chalkboard outside that read, "Walk-ins Welcome." Anyway, I took the time to write this review so no one would have to feel the same awkwardness (or a sense of discrimination) that I felt that day. 7 minutes waiting on someone is nothing. But 7 minutes of waiting to be acknowledged is something else. read more

I just had the best color correction ever! Thanks to Jenny (owner), who is sweet, friendly and completely knowledgeable about every aspect of hair. I'd trust her with my firstborn child (if I had kids) after the way she fixed the horrible mess my last stylist left. This salon feels bright, clean and welcoming when you walk in. My stylist, Sephany, is extremely meticulous and very attentive to my requests. I've gotten my hair highlighted at many other salons in the past but no one has ever come close to the amount of work Sephany puts in. I have very fine hair and she made sure every strand was highlighted properly. She also has given me great trims and recently did a gorgeous updo for a photoshoot. She really can do it all.
