Kind of a pain in the butt to do laundry here. Dryers are not super hot so expect that part of the process to cost you more.

This place is horrible. To begin it's expensive. Most machines are out of service and most eat your quarters up with no credit. The bathroom is "closed for health reasons" and if you do your laundry on a Sunday there is no office hours. read more

I used to love this laundry location. The machines are almost all out of service! The few machines that do work leave the clothes 80% wet the spin cycle on the machines is horrible. It took 3 hours to do laundry. Either somehow they lowered the temperature on the dryers or they are all failing. It took me 2 hours to partially dry my cloths. After $60 I gave up. I could continue putting time over and over and over on the dryers I even split the cloths in different dryers to try and dry it faster nothing worked. Took home all my damped clothing to hang dry. Please improve because today was a nightmare!! read more

So many washers have been out of service for a while but they are VERY quick to increase the price for each washer and dryer. Why can't they be serviced so more washers can be used so that people are not waiting on others to finish? Some washers are also full of dog or cat hair so I'm constantly looking into each one before loading in and I have to carry Clorox wipes just in case. Some dryers are also not the best at drying even after 30 minutes of dry time with a small load. Drying quality is very low. This should be looked into as well. Overall it's hard to match the value of what you're putting in to what you're getting at the end. read more

The laundromat smelled like sewage. I asked the man who was working there how long that had been going on he said for over a year. The large front loaders out front cost $11 and I use two and my clothes came out smelling like mold and mildew. After 1 hour in the dryer the smell did not improve. Very clean laundry mat open until 10pm. I did not bring soap. It was closed to buy any and does not have a dispenser. It does have a coin machine for customers. It has a giant giant drier for blankets! Pro tip: Head down to the barria taco spot while you are waiting or go to grab a pitcher the pizza shop. Mountain Mike's pizza didn't have wings when I went, so I skipped there and grabbed just beer. The taco place Aquino's, had an hour wait for food but it was worth it. We came into town for a couple of nights after traveling already for a week and desperately needed to do some laundry before our next stop. I searched a few other spots in the area and read some pretty terrible reviews. The Grove had good reviews and I now know why. We stopped by and were happy to see there was an attendant on duty. He was super helpful and kind and we were able to buy some detergent from him and dryer sheets for a very good price. They didn't try and inflate their prices or anything. We had good food options on both sides of the place while our clothes were washing, so that was a plus! Also, the machines were all clean and we saw the attendant working on/cleaning them throughout our time there. I highly recommend doing laundry here. read more

At first, I really thought this laundromat was worth 5 stars, yet over the years it has gone progressively gone down hill! Washers are dirty and smell like mildew. More and more of them are out of order when you arrive. Now they are charging more money for less quality service. The people who work here are absolutely wonderful, friendly, caring, thoughtful --they have nothing to do with what's going on Either management or ownership that has really changed for the worse!! I think this new laundry facility should be classified as a boutique laundromat. This place is under new management and has undergone a complete transformation and looks great. They have all brand new eco-friendly machines with a new sleek design. There are a couple little sitting areas to relax, read and rest your feet. There's a new beige couch, coffee table, new vending machines, fresh faux marble floors, a large flatscreen and beautiful large orchids everywhere. The walls sport a nice fresh earthy beige paint with cute wall quotes and even a chic full length mirror. It's a pretty good-sized place unlike some of the other cramped facilities around the area. There is always an attendant on site and free delivery to the New Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel and Pacific Grove areas. Alteration and dry cleaning services are also offered here. I tried out the oversized washers and they performed great. Only $6.50 to wash my down comforter; dry cleaning charges $30-$35 to clean. Great newly launched laundry site in Pacific Grove. This is a top-notch laundry mat & I feel fortunate that it's in my neighborhood. The owner keeps the facility neat & clean and most importantly, he maintains his state-of-the-art machines which produce (truly) clean laundry. The proprietor is often on location and I find, very helpful and friendly. Note: I stress the words "truly clean" because I've used OTHER laundromats in the area and at one, just after washing a load of clothes, I was pulling them out to put them in the dryer but they smelled so bad, I wound up having to re-wash them! In addition, AFTER washing, my light- colored towels in a separate load, they wound up with some dingy dirt marks all over them. I've never had any type of bad experiences like the aforementioned occur at The Grove Laundry, only positive experiences. read more

clean, nice, safe place to do your laundry it's not a great "value" because all the machines are expensive it's not a "responsive" business because no one was working there when i was there (on a Sunday afternoon) even though it looks like there's a little nook/office thingee where presumably someone is at other times. the coin machine had ample quarters, which was nice. it wasn't too crowded, which was nice. you can park close to both entrances, which is nice. it's clean and airy. i recommend it. read more

3 years ago I would have given Grove Laundry 5 stars but over the years there are more "out of order" signs and the cleanliness has declined. Note: I only do laundry at night when it is slower, which appears to be after the attendant leaves for the day. So I cannot speak on how clean it is during the morning or early afternoon. read more

I truly wish such a simple task could have been an easy good review but... Our machine broke so I packed damp laundry into the van, drove it from Marina to this place ,based upon the reviews, and at first, the unsmiling, unhappy man was a real drag as he doesn't like you, doing work, or something.. (?) Then he helped keep his door open ( the shop is on a steep hill so the rolling carts are in serious risk to dent a car) as I got about eight baskets worth of damp smelly laundry into the store, he didn't weigh anything- he just said 150$ and he was going on vacation. We had no choice. So I agreed. Especially as they advertise free delivery. I had no way of knowing that he meant to leave the wet stuff mildewing while he was on vacation!!! Why?!? I choose the place that delivers and had to call four times leaving messages to get delivery at all. He told me at door never again (!) 150$ not to Marina ( oh just what.ever. specify it on the website if the mileage is an issue.right??) I opened the first bag - plastic tied off and a horrible stench of dog pee because the rug was unwashed!! No soap!! Still wet!!! Now with black permanent mildew stains that are the size of apples, and so forth- each bag RUINED. Why??? Tablecloth and matching napkins white- now have black speckles.cannot set a table with these. The only stuff not destroyed are towels. Oh, some socks.yay. So gee, he credited back half. Half doesn't buy new rugs (2) or tablecloth and matching napkins. Plus I still had to literally wash everything. A full detergent large. At least I use SOAP !!!!!!! They didn't!!! How could the bags be wet and stink not of any soap but of well, yuck? They just bagged up all but the lightest easiest socks which are clean and lol folded, but all the heavy stuff are permanently destroyed for choosing the Grove Laundry. So.... I'm out the gas to drive to him and have to buy new everything except some socks and towels... Five bags. If you are interested in a service to do your laundry- go ANYWHERE else, this place is not happy to be doing laundry, and the entire episode leaves you worse off. The owner of this laundry establishment has a bad attitude I know how to pour soap into a machine this dude is picky beyond words he's not happy he' throws a attitude if you asked him for quarters. We used The Grove Laundry wash and fold service twice. The first time, the clothing came folded neatly but smelled of cheap detergent or fabric softener. We were waiting for our new home to be finished and were in a pinch. I dropped off a second load of clothes when I picked up the first and had not yet opened the bag, otherwise I probably would have gone elsewhere. When I picked the second load of clothes today, we had someone else's underwear in with ours and several items had very obviously not been laundered, only folded. The large washer is nine dollars, which I thought was a little expensive. This is my favorite laundromat ever. Do I miss the old school arcade game? Yes. But I will live. Finally: a clean, safe, dare I say comfortable laundromat that's affordable and doesn't try to be fake eco-friendly (ahem Sudz) and the attendant does not bother you (huge, throat-clearing AHEM, SUDZ). This is apparently owned and/or managed by the same folks who own/operate the Bagel Bakery next door. I'm just assuming this based on the WiFi and a sign on the vending machine. Free wi-fi and tv. Overall, this place makes laundry a pleasure, not a pain. Prices: $3.75 for a double load, $5.25 for quad, $6.50 for sextuplet. They also do wash & fold with free local delivery (no word on whether you can request bagels with your clean clothes) and alterations. Bonus: Michael's Taqueria next door. They also were offering dry cleaning and tailoring service as well....essentially a one stop shop for all your clothes maintenance. WTF else would you need? As laundromats go, it's a pretty good one. I hate doing laundry almost as much as I hate disposing of dead bodies and cleaning up the elephant pen, but it has to be done at some point. Sometimes I do it at my apartment bldg, but the manager here can't find her way out of a paper bag, let alone maintain washers & dryers. So today it was off to Grove Laundry. I used to like its predecessor, which was open 24 hours, so I could go there in the middle of the night, have the whole place to myself, and dance to the oldies without people looking at me as some kind of weirdo freak. Here's the good, bad & ugly: Good: * Newish energy- & water-efficient, fast-working machines *Different sizes for different folks; they have giant dryers that can fit a family of six and all of their luggage. * Good food nearby--right next door, in fact (Mexican from Michael's Taqueria, Bagel Bakery, and down the strip mall, pizza, Chinese, & sushi) * Attendants there most if not all the time; the guy was helpful when I had trouble with the quarter slots on the single load washer; see below for more on that. * It's clean (even the restroom looked almost clean enough to eat out of) * Adequate, even comfortable seating for those waiting, eating, etc. * Good selection of reading material On the down side: * No oldies to listen to * TV with sound turned almost all the way down; can't hear over the hum of the washers & dryers; can't tell what the heck Steve Harvey question the Family Feud contestants are answering (makes it kind of interesting, in a way) * Some of the machines are hard to figure out for first timers (esp. the single load washers; see pic) * Parking can be tight, though I found a space right out front * Aisles are narrow; leads to some awkward and not necessarily wanted closeness among customers. * You only get 3 minutes per quarter when you use the giant dryers mentioned above, and they don't seem to get as hot as the smaller dryers (six minutes per quarter). *And then there are the usual problems associated with laundromats--the other customers. Most of the people in there were nice, but people in general are pigs. Leaving trash lying around; leaving their unruly kids unattended (I was almost sure one two-year old had wandered off or been kidnapped); smoking just outside the door (Fairway Shopping Center management ought to implement a building-wide ban on smoking within 20 feet of the bldg, like other civilized businesses and agencies; no one who's eating or doing laundry wants to be bombarded by tobacco smoke). read more

Let's start with the positives. This place is very very clean. The staff takes great care of the overall look of the place. When you need something, they can probably help. But here is the negative. I don't have a ton of clothes to wash. One light load and one dark load. 95% of the time I'm there, 7 of the 9 small washing machines are broken. There have been times when both the working single load machines are in use, and I have to use bigger machines, more expensive machines, because the management won't properly maintain their equipment. About 3mi away is another laundromat, cheaper, a little more dirty, but that always works. That's where I started to take my business and never have the same problems. read more

I've seen many people complaining about washing machines not using hot water. First of all, it's not safe to have machine heat up just because it's using hot water. Since the washing machines are insulated, people can't feel the temperature of the water and that's why people are complaining. Also, if you put more detergent than you should be, your clothes won't come out clean. It's just so funny how people complain. Every time I come to Monterey to visit my family I always bring my bedsheet and pillow covers just to get them washed here. I've done wash and fold for my bed sheet, pillow covers three times already. They came out soooo clean and white, smells great too! and they fold it, iron them too. I also really like the fact that they clean their washing machines every night when they close. I've gone to other coin laundries in Pacific Grove and most of the washing machines have dog hairs and mold / mildew built up. It's so gross to wash your clothes in those machines. I love this place. This place is always kept clean unlike other coin laundries in L.A and Monterey County. I would only come here if I were you. Price is a little cheaper than other ones in Pacific Grove, not that different but definitely cleaner and newer machines that are ECO Friendly!! read more

I used this for wash & fold service. Dropped off on Saturday & was told it would not be ready until Monday. While there I was surprised to see the cost of the machines for self service - $3.75. Seemed pricey to me. I returned on Monday a little after 5 to pick up and office was closed . No hours are listed for this service. A man there wanting to do laundry was a little annoyed he couldn't get change from the office so we commiserated about that. I finally picked it up Tuesday morning. On all three visits there were only one or two people in there using the self service. I'm assuming it's because it's a little pricey. I am unlikely to return. read more

I learned about The Grove Laundry through a friend and I couldn't agree more with what she said... It's comfortable. Bright, clean and they have a tv on playing regular evening television shows, plenty of local newspapers and of course some magazines. When I had a question, the man informed me politely that they didn't have any small single load washers currently available. This was one downside because I had to pay a lot for an undersized load. $3.75 for a "double load," which really seemed to be more of a 1.5 load. It adds up quick here but the new machines are all really nice. I drive about 10 minutes and pass 3 other places to come here because of how clean, open and welcoming this place is. When I have a decent amount of laundry to do, this place is worth the drive... still trying to convince myself it's worth the price too :) read more

Not a good experience. I have been going here off and on for about 2 years and I only use their dry cleaning services. Nothing special about the service but it is close to work. Last week I picked up my 4 laundered shirts and I noticed that I was charged the regular price ($2.75) for two and the other two were $6.75. When I asked what the reason was for the difference the owner said because the shirts needed to be "hand pressed because of the thickness of the buttons". I told him that I had been getting these shirts laundered here for two years and was never charged this. The owner told me that I should buy shirts with thinner buttons if I wanted to have my shirts laundered here. He eventually took the additional charges off but I will never go back. read more

We spent a week in Monterey for our kids' spring break and needed fresh, clean clothes mid-week. We tried this place and it was worth it - other places were closer to our hotel, but we drove here and dropped off our clothes one day and picked up the next day. He (presumably the owner/operator) would have gotten the clothes done same day but we dropped off too late in the day. When we picked up, I was so pleasantly surprised - it was worth the next day wait. Each item was folded perfectly and the clothes were organized and stacked per person/kid (we have three kids, so this was super helpful), and no color bleeding. We also tried a place closer to our hotel the next day as we ran out of time and clothes and needed a closer place without driving... I regret that. The Grove Laundry is way better for wash and fold - I highly recommend it. read more

The grove laundry is an awesome place to do laundry, ever since the new owners have taken over. It has great hours of operation, as well as all brand new state of the art equipment and a super friendly and helpful staff. The place is always spotless and they always have someone on hand to help. They offer wash and dry and folding services as well as dry cleaning and press if your in a hurry. This is definitely the best place to take your clothes on the peninsula. read more

And they have a tv to watch also I go next door to get bagels and I just sit down on their couch and use their wifi while waiting for my laundry to finish! Clean Machines, average prices. I only walsh my comforter and pillows at laundromats because the machines at my apartment are too small and I am afraid they will be damaged. Well damage can't always be avoided, my pillows tore open in the wash. Stuff happends, I was not upset about my pillow but I was a bit annoyed at the attent at first. He told me to be careful, with an annoyed and worried tone, when he saw what happend. I get that he takes good care of his machines but how was that my fault? He was the one that told me to use the bigger (more expensive) machines, which I did. In the end I threw away my pillow and the attendant asked if everything was ok when he saw that the machine was fine. Not the best first experience, but would come back here just because its soo clean. read more

Very pleased w how our laundry turned out. Saw another place before coming here that was slightly more expensive. This place was extremely clean and fresh- new machines. Our clothes look and smell clean. We paid $3.75 to wash and 25 cents / 6 minutes of drying (we paid $1.25 and our fairly large load was super dry). Can't complain much about anything. read more

I tend to launder at night and every time I watch them clean EVERY machine. I never have to worry about dirty machines that end up ruining clothing. This was a great find. My family has been driving through California on a 2 week vacation. I needed a place to wash our clothes and was lucky to find The Grove Laundry. I came in about 10 minutes after the cut off for last load, but was allowed to start anyway. By the time all was said and done she stayed 25 minutes past closing time for me.
