My son had a 7 foot put and as it rolled it hit a weed and shot in a 45 degree.. pretty ridiculous. But I get it I guess it's Louisiana. However , the grounds keeper while we are starting to chip on to the green decided it was the perfect time to "aerate" the greens. So as we are trying to get over there he starts up his machine and starts going back and forth.. at this point I say muck it and chip on ..we all do. He dosnt care. Just keep going. He gets to where our love are and just waits... okay what a polite thing todo. I'm putting while this machine is going BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Just overall lovely . Almost made par. Ended that hole with bogey. Skill issue. 2 stars because the warden wants to snap at my son like he's daddy, and tell him he can't drive because he's not 20 but yet their cart girl is 16. Psh get out of here.

I tried to continue on my day by going to play on her sandy goat ranch of a golf course. But as I was leaving she started yelling and filming me for leaving trash in the cart(I was in the middle of cleaning it out) she called me about every name in the book. If this is how she treats her customers I can only imagine what her poor husband and employees go through god bless them, hopefully she'll get the medication she needs and hires a greens keeper worth something because I've honestly never played on a course so expensive yet such a goat ranch.

The most revealing second in my golf life was the first time I saw Slicefixer's video dissecting…read morethe differences between the releases back in 2010. Which led down the path to the 9-3, a lot of chats with Russc, and finally the trip to see Geoff Jones. Geoff Jones as a person is a cocktail created by a stern upbringing of a southern lawmen father, and a strong distaste for not winning it all in competitive golf. This blend of Hogan like work ethic mixed with a curiosity to seek out the secret, he looked for the truth through video study much like the X and O's in present day NFL, Jon Gruden style. But be careful about bringing up unsubstantiated golf theories, as you will be met by a cold glare that can cut down forests faster than any chainsaw crew. While his personality might be a bit brash for the commentating styles on the Golf Channel, but the truth is what distinguish the Slicefixer from any others in Golf instruction. And he will back it up, in visual evidence and on the range. Slicefixer golf facility is a utilitarian driven teaching bay where the golf instruction ticks more reliable than an atomic watch. Rain or shine this place echoes with the thumps of ball striking. While some of his training methods are thrown together more like Larry the Cable Guy than the surgical refinement of a Mercedes Benz, they are highly functional, and they have 1 singular focused goal in mind. You will learn what the correct golf swing looks and feels, if you put in the effort. Slicefixer's instructions starts with a step by step of checklist forged through years of teaching and revelations from visual stimulation. First he will film your swings from several angles, then on to the Grip, posture, back swing. Each with a purpose, laid out on the surgical table and scrutinized to within 1/2 a degree of angles. Then its on to a film study session and explanations of why certain things appear the way they do but in reality it's the polar opposite. Followed by range session where he explains each lesson by illustrating feel and drills to ingrain it. But it does not feel like a system, this is the part that is difficult to explain, lets just say the knowledge you walk away with enforces the Slicefixer ideas with a clarity like no other classroom. This is the Slicefixer way, you will learn the road map to get there. And it will take a tremendous amount of work, which he will draw out in a military training style regiment. Conclusion, walking away from this place brings a empty sadness. It's like leaving the golf meca after the pilgrimage, while you have experienced it, it's hard to be without. Like stopping at just one strip of thick crunchy slice of country bacon. The mechanics, work ethic, mental approach enforced at every bullet point with his trademark terms(Scrape and rake, Busting it). The only focus the Slicefixer will out line for you is brutally simple, Your body will be honed in to a Hardcore Golf Machine if you can follow the way. Albert Einstein once said "Information in not knowledge", and that's the secret of the Slicefixer method. Intelligent and focused workout along with the knowledge is the key to becoming a great golfer. This is the accelerated course in golf, skipping all the local golf instructor BS and regurgitated decade old golf digest article tips. After the 3 day golf buffet with Geoff Jones, I am focused, armed and now ready to start my own golf journey.

This was my first visit to "The Carthage Country Club" unfortunately it was only for a business…read moreluncheon and not a round of golf at this seasoned golf course that was built in 1965. If you've been to any of these smaller golf courses which are typically operated out of some aging building that could hardly be called a club house with a small pro shop to sign in and purchase a few of the bare necessities that you forget to buy at the local sporting goods store or in this case maybe it's a Walmart you're in for a big surprise as you approach the clubhouse from the highway. This newer modern club house that replaced what I would assume to be the original accommodations that burnt down in the recent past is nothing short of a dream come true for the new owners. Although I didn't take the full tour I was impressed with the parking lot, front entrance and restaurant. I must tell those of you who aren't very observant check out the legs on the dining room tables, the legs are actual rifles, my first thought after seeing this was "how fitting", this rural course I'm sure has an abundance of wildlife that is native to the area and during my few trips through the area camouflage seems to be the most popular dress in these parts. The restaurant features a simple menu for lunch consisting of hamburgers, salads and sandwiches. Steak and seafood are available Friday and Saturday evenings and after sampling a few of their homemade offerings for lunch I am sure it's definitely a wait on the weekend for dinner. The service was equal to the food quality which I found to be refreshingly simply but full of favor using quality ingredients. You definitely need to try this place out, the food preparation yelps passion and is priced very reasonable. I hope to return soon.

As soon as my group walked into the pro-shop, we were scoffed at. The guy behind the desk (older…read moreguy, a younger one showed up later who was much nicer) yelled at us that there were temporary greens. I'm serious, this wasn't a simple spoken instruction, it was a command loudly given that must've come from a place of insecurity. We were on a bachelor party trip (everyone was well-behaved and sober, it was 8:45 a.m), so one of our group requested that the six of us play together. The man in the pro shop replied in utter disbelief that we even asked the question that we could not do that because it was "against the rules." Normally we wouldn't have asked, but there was basically no one playing this day, so what could it hurt? He proceeded to get very angry when asked why we couldn't play in a six-some, and again yelled "It's the rules!" I'm all for rules when there's a reason behind them, alas, he could not give us one. To add to that, the greens fees were discounted 40% because of the temporary greens. I checked out first and was charged the correct price. My buddy checked out immediately afterward as he was next in line, and was charged full price. Now this was the same buddy that asked about us all playing together, so I can only infer that the worker needed some sort of retaliation. My friend got his refund, and the rest were charged accordingly. We met a worker on the first tee box who was very kind. We told him our troubles and he said that was a normal occurrence. Because we were on a bachelor trip, he said that we could play together if we broke up on the holes visible from the tee shop so Mr. Insecurity couldn't see us. We were excited for the newfound levity and started our round. About 6 holes thru, another worker pulled up and said that we could not actually play as a group of six because it was AGAINST THE RULES, so we divided our party into two groups. To add onto this, there were temporary greens because of the massive rainfall that occurred recently. We understood this, but we could not understand that ALL OF THE SPRINKLERS were running the entire time we played, further adding to the muddy bayou that we played in. On several holes we were even hit by the running sprinklers. Normally I wouldn't complain about sprinklers, but I just cannot understand why they were still running and why they were making holes more difficult to maneuver. Needless to say, I will not be back. Aside from the previous few men that were kind, the experience was awful. I don't care what age a person is, they should be treated with respect as paying customers. We are all in our 20's, and it felt as though we were being treated as trespassing vagrants. The guy at the pro-shop sure seemed to be bosom-buddies with the older man that entered before us, but we were not treated with the same amiability. I don't care how cheap it is, skip out on Querbes. To the guys that were actually cordial... I'd find somewhere else to work if I were you. And to the guy who works behind the pro shop desk, get some professional help. No need to be a dismissive jerk.
