Stones throw away, very convenient and have been frequenting this pub in its various guises since arriving on these shores at the age of 2!
The historic building has been skilfully restored and is now one of the nicest pubs in South London, the only problem with the vast area is that if it isn't packed (as it is during a major sporting event or sunny weekend) it can lack atmosphere.
Wide selection of drinks including new beers and wines, have found the bar staff and owners keen to meet demand so if there are any requests rest assured an effort will be made to accomodate. Standard pub fare on the menu but cooked to a high standard (perhaps a bit pricier than expected), the highlight is the indian meu with various sizzling hot plates of chicken and lamb with samosas and kebabs to start - delicious and very reaosnable. Summertime bbqs also worth checking out.
There is a club downstairs with a foot print almost as large as the bar upstairs, this can be hired out and is a good venue if throwing a party - i think you can even bring your own dj.
Other activities include salsa classes, quiz night and occasional showcases of local wares - there were some old courtly costumes being sold for theatre production companies a few weeks ago.
Friendly staff and a good local support from regulars, make sure you pop in if you are in the area! read more
