Aside from having a healthy supply of ice cold Lone Star beer, they have some delicious food. I got their mushroom Swiss burger with seasoned fries. It was amazing! This is a hidden gem in this area. So do yourself a favor and stop on by. You'll not be disappointed!

I'm sure theres more to this area, but when my wife and I came, this place was already closed. It does appear to have tickets for perhaps an event or small exhibition. Not sure, but the trail and parking lot is open. There are of course, nicer parks, but this is pretty peaceful. It doesn't have a basketball court or anything like that, just a playground for kids, lots of field, and building structures. Lots of trees and along a stream. There are restrooms available, but it might be closed depending on the hours. Lots of parking

We dove right in and decided to stop by without lots of context. First of all, I love this place. It's chill, lots of good beer, and has some good open seating. It's an ice house, folks. The beer selection was pretty good with a mix of local/regional craft beers in cans alongside national micro-craft beers from CO, OR, and NM. Great atmosphere if you're just looking to get out of the house. It seemed like they had a few snacks but didn't have too much In terms of food selection. With this place on our list of go-to's, I can safely say Bryan is growing on us!

For a local theater, it's absolutely worth a visit if you're looking for quality entertainment at a very reasonable price. The theater itself is older, which adds a lot of charm and character to the experience, though it does come with a few drawbacks. The biggest challenge is the restroom situation--there are only two small restrooms, so a little strategic planning during intermission is helpful if you want to avoid long lines. One thing I really appreciated was the concession pricing. The drinks were very reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise compared to many larger venues. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back to enjoy another show in the future.

I want to give a full-throated endorsement of this business, especially as a Downtown Bryan…read moreresident, yet I have serious reservations. 1.) This historic venue deserves better historic interior decor. I recognize the current owners didn't make the renovations to the space, but as a single screen venue...it should feel special, distinct and one-of-a-kind experience from front door to lobby to theatre. It doesn't. 2.) The online website and programming of what's on screen is not extra special. First run films are better left to the cineplexes. This space would suit a well-curated art house, classic cinema, and rarely seen films for a large swath of audiences in the Brazos Valley. I live right around the corner and the 50th Anniversary screening of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon was the first film since their launch (in current iteration)...it was fun to experience on a large screen. 3.) What is unclear from the online presence is that food can be served to your seat. I looked extensively in the sight but this was not evident to me until we arrived. The menu is very pedestrian, burgers, greasy fries and more fried things, and standard salads. Again, nothing special or unique. 4.). Why are tickets for future screenings unavailable since they are already advertised? Also, there was a lot of noise in the lobby during the film and the house lights did not come up after the film concluded. I WANT to support a local one-screen experience Downtown, but how I miss the reopening days of this place when it was diversely curated and a human being sat in the ticket booth to welcome you into the Experience of The Queen. Her uniqueness is not being capitalized upon, regrettably.

My Northgate District memories go back to the 1978-1980 timeframe, when I was a TAMU graduate…read morestudent and lived just down the street on College Main. I remember Loupot's Bookstore which closed in 2012 after 80 years in Business. Also there was Holick's, the shop for Corp of Cadets Senior Boots, since moved to Bryan. Then there was the movie theatre and a dive burger place called "Dead Solid Perfect". With the yellow brick architecture in places, I enjoyed the fun and funky vibe of the neighborhood, plus a few drinks at the Dixie Chicken thrown in. Northgate is now mostly an entertainment district, and in my opinion a bit run down in spots. I'm sure this area is on some developer's list, but I hope that some of the architecture and of course the Chicken survive. I had a decent enough walkthrough, including Lunch at the Dixie Chicken and another one at the Freebirds Burritos, shopping at the TXAG bookstore, and a long walk down into Bryan to find the apartment that lived in. Thanks for the memories.

This is the home of the Dixie Chicken! It's within easy staggering distance from the dorms on campus, as well as lots of off-campus living. Ya, it's a bit sketch throughout here, but I didn't get stabbed, so it's all good. None of the bars in here are chain bars, which is nice. They're all locally owned and operated, which makes for a cool vibe over some of these corporate ones. Be sure to check out all the whiskey you can drink if you spend enough time here.
