I first found Payge through my Maid of Honor's recommendation as she was also planning her own wedding and found and hired Payge for her wedding. I had very specific ideas of what I wanted from my engagement and wedding photos. I wanted the emotions of the day captured, not cheesy posed photos and I am very particular about editing styles/colors and how pictures will look hung with my interior décor. I researched a ton of photographers and interviewed a ton of photographers from all over the US because we wanted the best. When my MOH showed me Payge's Instagram and forwarded me some of her example albums I freaked out! SHE IS AMAZING! How does this girl capture a tear fallen on a groom's suit from the bride during a first look as they hug?! She captures raw moments with such a clear and focused lens! You see the tears, the smiles, the laughs, the dancing, the kisses, all the moments you want to remember. Her editing stays true to the original colors and she just enhances each image. For our engagement photos she flew out to AZ, where we live and we all drove to Glamis, CA for a sand dune photo shoot and we also did some casual in-home photos with our dog. My first experience with Allen Tsai was when he photographed my sister's wedding. My sister…read moreherself, is a photographer. The second time I heard his name was at my best friend's wedding. HER photographer had also used Allen Tsai for her wedding. I decided to take some time and followed Allen's presence on social media and the internet. Turns out he's VERY decorated and has been featured a lot in publications. His clients are worldwide, and all the photographers I respect want HIM for the THEIR weddings. If he's the professional that all the other professionals use, I knew I was never going to entertain any other photographer. The second I got engaged, I told my wedding planner we had to secure Allen. And that's what we did. THANK GOD because it takes a special photographer to handle everything an everyone that was, My Wedding. I got married in Downtown Dallas and my wedding had very "city" vibes. I didn't want to have every "conventional" wedding party shot, and so I had tasked Allen with the burden of making my wedding photos look like "something off the cover of Vanity Fair." Not typically his route for weddings, and also confined to a VERY tight timeline, somehow, Allen was able to execute my vision. More than that, every shot from the reception is PERFECT. The lighting was consistent in every shot (and let me tell you, the lights from the stage and darkness of the room was all over the place that night). He captured beautiful portraits, but also grabbed very intimate moments between myself and my husband, our friends, and our family - shots that we didn't know anyone was watching. The photos were edited and turned in record time (amazing considering he shoots digitally AND in film) and the gallery of proofs was enormous. This was so important because I've heard HORROR stories from friends whose galleries were pitifully small since the photographer didn't have very good content to return. The gallery is easy to use navigate and he even offers printing services (huge if your local pharmacy does a bad job with prints). Here is my biggest jaw-drop of the experience: Allen worked alone. My wedding had around 225 guests and you would have thought (based on the photos) that he had at least two assistants. Finally, Allen is also just awesome to work with. He's kind and dedicated to his craft, and he is so respectful and polite. He rocked my wedding and I'm so glad we hired him.

I really encourage anyone using Allen's services to listen to his recommendations. For example, our original scheduled date was cloudy and overcast. He recommended that we wait for sun if we truly wanted to be happy with our photos. We are so grateful to have listened to him, because the results were wonderful (see attached). There are other photographers that will say that cloudy weather is actually better, however with Allen's technique and skill set, he can do incredible things with the light. He offered us a discount but his quote was higher than what I had budgeted. I thought I would be receiving good quality work, so I made an exception. I would have been better off hiring anyone else. His customer service is absolutely terrible, his excuses are numerous, and his deadlines and commitments are never kept. The very first warning sign was him cancelling our engagement shoot, a few hours before it was scheduled. Getting the engagement photos from him was an ORDEAL. He missed his "4 to 6 week" delivery promise and ignored texts, calls and emails. When I finally received them, some of the photos were blurry, washed out and did not meet our expectations. His work was mediocre and definitely did not justify his cost. After asking him to fix the engagement photos, he went on radio silence for another month. Several persistent text messages later, I got them a few days before my wedding! He once again promised to hand over the wedding photos in "4 to 6 weeks", which by then, I knew not to believe. The same process of calls, reminders, and voice mails resumed. Once I finally saw the product, I was utterly disappointed. They were washed out, over-processed and over-sharpened. Here's the worst part: he did not capture our first kiss!! Even an amateur photographer would know that it is one of the most important moments in the ceremony and I have NO professional documentation of that moment. I was fortunately able to get the unprocessed raw files from him, since we decided to process them ourselves. He very 'generously' offered to print us a photo to make up for not capturing our first kiss, but I cannot be bothered to deal with him anymore. I would not recommend him to ANYONE. He was an absolute waste of money and caused me an unnecessary amount of stress.
